    I've been binging on all the Siskel and Ebert reviews over the past few days.....Strangely, I am beginning to "hear" Roger Ebert in my head, as I go about my day, doing whatever mundane things I have to do. But he describes my day like he is introducing the next film on the show: .. ""He's trying to get the perfect picture of a field of flowers before that field becomes the site of new condominiums; She's the new girl on the block with a passion for the flowers but just a little trouble communicating. Here, we see them getting to know each other." (Cue film clip). Does this happen to anyone else?

      @mania4270 6 лет назад +3

      UxCANxDOxIT why? he said jurasic park 3 was the best of the series. he said mummy 3 is the best of the series. who cares? all ppl see movies differently, but losing respect because he doesnt agree with you? fans are idiots

    • @jp3813
      @jp3813 5 лет назад

      @@UxCANxDOxIT Ebert may like or hate a movie more as time goes on, but he never flipped his thumb. In fact, Siskel suggested an episode where they admit that their initial reviews were wrong for certain films, but Ebert said that he has never been wrong about his critiques. When Siskel brought up A Clockwork Orange, Ebert even weaseled his way out of it by saying that he had yet to see it again.

    • @jp3813
      @jp3813 5 лет назад +1

      @@mania4270 If no one cared, critics wouldn't have a job in the first place. Everyone has their own opinions, but not everybody utilizes those opinions to influence the public. At one point, Siskel actually flipped his thumb while reviewing Broken Arrow b/c he knew that it's their responsibility to inform people about which movies they think are worthy/unworthy of seeing. They gained respect b/c they were generally good at it. Hell, Ebert didn't actually enjoy watching Aliens, but recommended it anyway b/c its craftsmanship deserves an audience. A critic who would recommend Speed 2 instead of Die Hard would definitely lose some respect regarding his analytical skills to determine quality entertainment. No one is perfect, but the key is building & maintaining trust.

Instead of just walking out of the theater and going your own merry way, why not encourage people to be sociable and express their opinions with each other on what they just saw.
