I really wish Siskel could have been alive to see and review Fellowship of the Ring. The conversation he and Ebert could have had would’ve been infinitely better than Roeper braying like an ass. Anyway, Siskel’s weird thumbs up for Armageddon was hilarious.
you're an ass. Roeper was making solid points, disagree with him or not. Fellowship is my least favorite, but it is a great movie, I still disagree with him, but he's not just talking nonsense. you are an embarrassing fanboy who ruins talking about movies. cause your favorite shiny thing isn't so shiny to other people. get over yourself.
Yep, there are plenty of things to criticize about FOTR, but Roeper's take is shockingly dumb and embarrassing. Siskel isn't my hero or anything, but none of his replacements could fill his shoes.
The Good Son is an intense thriller that was disturbing, but that is reality. While it's not some all time great it is Culkins best acting and being disturbing is what makes it work. These guys never understood horror movies.
FOTR has one of the most emotional and satisfying endings to a blockbuster of all time. Expecting the entire story to end in one film is exactly the type of attitude what would have forced Jackson to make it one film and would have been a disaster.
The two unquestioned GOATS. Everyone thinks that their opinion matters and that people give a shit about what they think nowadays though. Eff any quality standards....Maybe we should have critics to provide their critiques on all of our modern critics and on the state of criticism?
I had forgotten that the first Harry Potter movie came out a month before the first of the Peter Jackson LOTR movies (I went out and saw Fellowship and each of the sequels twice in the theater, but didn't see HP on dvd until the third one was out).
@@delbongo He does come across as condescending when saying "you got your little elven creatures", as if a fantasy world in general is cute and not worth his time.
Roeper has no idea what he's talking about, but thinks that shouting loudly about it will make him more correct. He'd fit right in with today's Fox News. There's a reason that people remember "Siskel and Ebert" and not "Siskel and Ebert and Roeper".

You are so right-Siskel is so much better and more likable than Roeper.
Great to see full length clips of this stuff.

Yeah and then they put seven different endings in ROTK which could have been a fourth movie all by themselves lol
Child's Play 2? Can't even imagine how these two would review House of 1000 Corpses.
Ebert liked The Devil's Rejects
Siskel and Ebert are the kind of critics we should have currently to be honest.

Bruce Willis appears in more than his share of movies in these "funny moments" videos.
I noticed that too lmao

What’s actually curious is the Roeper thought he needed to comment on Sean Astin weight. Weird times lol
Roeper dissing TLOTR no he dienint!!
Roeper should’ve quit reviewing movies after he realized his take on LOTR was so wrong.
He doesn't exactly cream Apollo, he destroys his ass.
Roeper's voice! It's a fell voice on the air!
Roeper was just trying desperately to prove to everyone that he wasn't a "nerd".
Or perhaps he just didn’t like it
I didn't (still don't) like it, and I'm a total nerd 😂

I often wonder how they would have reacted to the over flow of marvel films these days
You don’t have to wonder, you know they’d hate most/all of them.
Ebert used to like a lot of them before he passed. Also, I don't understand the expectation of them to hate Marvel movies.

Wrong title in the chapter. It's Rocky 4, not Rocky Balboa.
Imagine being so wrong about the greatest Trilogy ever put to film.
I didn't see where they reviewed the Back to the Future movies 🏫

Very true.
i agree with roeper on lord of the rings
Harry Potter is not better than LOTR
