What's the point of BoG at this point? Like what was Beerus even impressed with? With every arc past BoG that fight becomes a bigger and bigger joke since Goku gets all of those seemingly big power jumps but the gap between him and Beerus seemingly doesn't shrink at all. Like Beerus could fold MUI the same way he folded BoG SSJ3.
One thing I want to mention about the Gods battle royal is that they're threatened with eraser if they didn’t go all out by the Grand priest.

I would say Beerus is training in secrecy, maybe inside Whis staff to not have his godly ki detected, just to not be surpassed by Goku or Vegeta, because as you said what was really the point of Battle of Gods and Super Saiyan God transformation if Beerus is really that strong? SSG Goku wouldn't even give him a pleasurable fight if that was the case.

But you could make the argument that not all destroyers are equal in power. As a matter of fact we even see beerus handle all the other destroyers at once pretty well. It's made pretty clear throughout the series that beerus is on another level even compared to other Gods so when it's said that someone is close to a destroyer it doesn't mean they're close to beerus per say.

The only thing that I can see fore shadowed this was Vegeta post Moro arc getting beat, and Granolah's wish had the stipulations of being the strongest outside of Gods and Angels. Meaning people were speculating that Beerus is implied still stronger.
I think a lot of the issue is due to SSG back then was landing hits and despite the increases, and all the statements being "possibly" stronger than Beerus over the years, Beerus is still some benchmark that is still unreached.
Another foreshadow I think is when Whis compared Goku and Vegeta to Beerus as a tree compared to his castle.

Now that I think back, Beerus being this strong would screw over the anime continuity in monumental fashion. Goku developing Blue Kaioken specifically to fight Beerus later? Pointless. Even at x20, he'd be nowhere remotely close. Vegeta defeating God Of Destruction Toppo in a straight up fight? Toppo was a joke compared to Beerus apparently, so who cares? Goku attaining an elite divine state that took years of training and several life or death battles against God level characters? Nah chief, Beerus is totally still 10 times stronger than Goku, Vegeta and Beast Gohan combined. It devalues the whole idea of these characters getting stronger because they seem to be *exactly* where we were a decade ago when this new era began:
"Pretty strong, but not on Beerus' level."

Hell, using the Gods of Destruction doesn't even make sense from a marketing standpoint. Jiren and Broly hold a lot of power name-wise. They were so insanely impactful that people are still saying that Jiren or Broly can hang with current characters. Why won't they use *them* as the benchmark from here on? They already compared Cell Max to Broly directly, so why not commit fully? We'd actually have some stakes in the story then. Beerus, who's been their last resort all this time, isn't enough anymore. The tension writes itself! Lol

Beerus the moving goal post actively takes away enjoyment from the series for me, he keeps being used as a measuring stick to hype up new characters just for them to retcon Beerus to being stronger after and its ridiculous.
How am i supposed to care about a threat when Beerus is chilling off on the sidelines eating cake and is way stronger than everyone.
Imagine the Frieza or Cell Saga with Beerus chilling on the sidelines, kills all the tension right?
Frieza should have definitively surpassed Beerus, and that would actively make him a real threat.
Even if he surpassed Beerus, there would still be angels. You will tell me angles can't intervene, but Beerus doesn't intervene either in their fights. So if Beerus kills any tension for you, the presence of the angels should too.

I feel like both statements about characters being stronger than Beerus and Ultra Ego giving him limitless strength can both be true if we take all of the Beerus scaling as him in base. These characters can still be stronger than his base, but dont compare to him in GoD mode because we haven't seen him go all out using Ultra Ego.
Moro and goku both surpassed beerus and was stated by meerus, then granola comes along and stronger than that then goku and vegeta surpass that then frieza on shots both of them so he should be above beerus now they retcon it.

I don't even understand why it is so important to push his power above and beyond in every single arc... Why even bothering to use him as a goal post or making statements about percentages, when they don't want him to be surpassed?
And it makes every single character, that spoke about this, DUMB, like beyond reasoning, including Beers and Whis themselves, because in the first movie they said he was fighting at 70%, and the next movie was stated that Goku and Vegeta together can win against him, and it's fine, to me, because it still proves that they are not at his level, and they need to team up and give it all, to win. And it also makes sense that someone like Broly, who's stronger, can only be defeated with a fusion, because teaming up is not enough, which also confirms Shin statement about Vegetto.
Back in the day, people were spot on, gaging battle powers, some people even could do it for people that were holding back a great deal, now everybody is wrong about Beers, why? What's the point? It's like an unexperienced game-master that doesn't want the players to outsmart the boss. It's not amusing, it's irritating and childish.
Either they keep him in place where he is, or they have him training to stay relevant.
He won't be surpassed until his rematch against Goku. It should have been obvious from the beginning. You can't tease a rematch and then have Goku become stronger before the rematch. There would be no point for a rematch in that case.

I agree 100%, the entire power scaling thing has been confusing & contradicting right throughout. If they were to be consistent & stick to the outcomes & statements from previous arcs then black Frieza should be way stronger than beerus. I think they're continuously making this up & keeps changing it as they go along. Full of contradictions.
It just gets to a point now where I just watch DBZ just to enjoy the action, not to focus too much on the story line or the arcs matching each other like a perfect series. Just to enjoy the action, to not get confused.

I specifically remember there being an interview where it was stated that if Beerus is a 10 then Super Saiyan God Goku is a 6, and this is somewhat stated in the Battle of Gods movie where Whis says Beerus used "nearly 70%" of his full power. In the anime Whis just points out that Beerus lied about going full power but that's it.
But still, even if we use 70% that's still not THAT far off, so considering Beerus is never seen training at all it would make sense that he wouldn't get any stronger. But Goku unlocks Super Saiyan Blue, and if the logic follows the normal Super Saiyan then it's Super Saiyan God X 50, then he also stacks Kaio Ken X 10 on top of that, so (Super Saiyan God X 50) X 10 should more than cover the difference between Goku and Beerus if he was already within 70% of his maximum power with Super Saiyan God alone.

How is Beerus a moving goalpost when we’ve never seen his full power? He is a goalpost but to say he’s continually moving is just objectively incorrect. It would be different if we saw his full power but he was still stronger than everyone despite reaching that level but he’s been holding back the entire series, apart from his fight with the other gods. You can have an issue with it but he’s not a moving goalpost.

Beerus is the "Ceiling" and Whis is the "Clouds" for power level at the moment. Everyone who isn't above them naturally, like Grand Priest and Zeno respectively being another planet and the sun itself, are inside the house of powerscaling and aren't allowed to leave unless they can break through the ceiling.
Really though, they should have a short couple of episodes of Beerus having to fight an enemy that's absurdly powerful and disrespects Beerus, after having shown that said character shits on Goku and Vegeta, or even Gohan/Frieza. This would cement Beerus current strength, approximately.
I think the biggest problem is toyotaro has different plans and ideas of power scaling to the anime.

The only time we actually saw beerus try is the fight with the other gods and he didn’t seem that much stronger than the rest of them. He was damaged and tired before the grand priest stopped the fight. I’m willing to bet beerus real power is some sort of a transformation or something.

This was my concern with introducing Beerus in the first place. Introducing the pinnacle of power in universe 7 in Beerus. Sets the roof of his far you can go with characters.
So you've given these two options where you can either have the power scale go completely off the rails where the villains are stronger than gods & angels. Thus you have Goku and Vegeta break that ceiling in a few arcs. Making it virtually impossible to write other characters like Gohan, Trunks etc in crisis situations because the gap between them and the villain isn't even close.
Or you just keep retroactively going back and making Beerus seem stronger than they said he was even a few arcs ago. To keep some semblance of control over the power limits and narrative.
But you're seeing this with Ultra Instinct. This is supposedly a technique of the angels. A level above the gods. They said Goku has a mastered form of that. But to not completely have him blitz beerus and break that ceiling, there's levels of mastery to it.
Well the thing is, we never ever got a true confirmation on how strong Beerus is. Him using 70% against SSG Goku was really just the movie thing (correct me if i am wrong) and Belmod trapping Destroyers in his card seal technique doesn't really matter since it was just a sneak attack, not like he faced Beerus directly, so we don't even know how well Beerus can stand against Belmod, which makes Jiren > Belmod kind of irrelevant. So Beerus isn't really a "moving" goalpost, his power was never truly established at the first place anyway

Fucking Vegito Blue in the Goku Black arc should've surpassed Beerus, yet Toriyama keeps moving the goalpost and most people are too stupid to notice.

Gods in dragonball are just bench marks for characters ( Saiyans really) to jump over. Toriyama doesn’t know what to do with the God hierarchy other than use them for gags and make characters ( Saiyans really) strong. They’re plot devices , nothing more.

All of those statements have a context behind them though. Starting with Supreme Kai comparing Vegito to Beerus, the last time Supreme Kai saw Beerus fight prior to Vegito vs Zamasu was against Goku, and remember, When Beerus fought Goku, he lied about using 100%. So Supreme Kai's word isn't the best to go by.
Later, When Goku watches the gods fight each other, mere minutes later he tells Toppo how he can't sense Toppo's energy, just like the gods. So even when Goku saw Beerus go all out with his own eyes, he couldn't actually sense Beerus. And when you look at the wording for when Goku compares Broly to Beerus, he says "probably". Goku doesn't know this for sure and is actually just guessing. He couldn't sense Beerus power during the exposition and he hasn't fought Beerus himself. So when he says this about Broly its not going to be an accurate statement.
The biggest remedy to this would’ve been to introduce Jiren as a G.O.D candidate, not as stronger than Belmod. This will still get the point across without creating problems. Something else can be done with Top I suppose. The Granolah arc should’ve also been a lot lower stakes than it ended up being.
The biggest cope answer I’ve seen that Toriyama or Toyotaro might actually make legit is that statement regarding Beerus on helping Vegeta unlock UE that his power is limitless because his mind is always on destruction explains his strength always being higher than everyone else

If you go back and watch super From the beginning and pay attention to detail it will be clear that goku and vegeta was never remotely close to beerus whis stated this when he compared goku and vegeta power to a tree stump while the other gods where like a giant tree whis said in terms of god power that’s where they stand.. Even with the power ups that followed after that scene don’t seem to be that much of a gain even vegeta said they don’t gain much from training because they are at they limits. But now they both broke they limits so now they have a whole new world of power to explore

Has nobody paid attention to the plot? It’s complete nonsense. Just because goku and vegeta are learning new god techniques, they have A LONGGGG way to go to even mastering it. Heck, even Beerus hasn’t mastered the Ultra techniques and he’s been in existence for billions of years.
One thing I do sorta agree with is rhe “ X character is on pair of a God of Destruction “ does this mean that this character is on pair with the weakest GoD? The strongest? Over the strongest? Are all of GoD on the same level? Soo many unanswered questions, but regardless, I don’t think thAt statement is enough proof to put any character above the God of Destruction. How I interpret the statement is “ those who wield the powers of the gods are on pair with them”

Beerus will remain the stronger until Frieza and/or Gohan need plot armor to rise to the occasion. Goku and Vegeta will train with dieties and legitimately earn massive power buffs but as soon as they do, Gohan will get angry after not training and Frieza will concentrate or train by himself or maybe someone weaker and eclipse both with a fraction of the effort or insight in how to become stronger. The writing is becoming lazy and predictable. Moro wasn't my favorite arc but the tournament, Moro, Granola and Gas were at least new characters and challenges. Then what happens? We get Frieza arc 2.0 and Cell saga revisited at the same time. Getting back on topic, Beerus will continue to be the strongest for several reasons... He's millions of years old, even though he's a bit lazy, he does train so his power is not static. He is a fighting prodigy from the most powerful race in the multiverse (which other race produced two Gods of Destruction?) and his pride won't allow any mortal to eclipse his power no matter how hungry he is for a challenge. Beerus will be remain the GOAT until they write themselves in a corner and have to start a multiple existences storyline.

Beerus was a character stated to remain stronger than both Vegeta and Goku through the entirety of Dragon Ball Super: his role as a character is being the neutral, intimidating deity who doesn't immediately fall from grace due to powerscaling ruining (both in dragon ball and in general) yet another story.
Powerscaling does not matter to Toei, Toriyama or the fans' wallets; it is a western community of people obsessed with fiction so much they add real life numbers they don't even understand (because i have seen real physicists and chemist react to your "calculations", believe me) to explain the capabilities of a *CHARACTER* in a *FICTIONAL* story.
Your calculations are not relevant; money and the story itself come first, and the role Beerus has as an invincible obstacle (until the time comes to PROPERLY remove him from that title, with proper events everyone can understand and not just vague statements), will remain as such.
