Day 1 was nuts. Everyone was so full of fresh energy. Korn comes on and knocks the place on it's ass, and then Bush closes it out in good fashion. It's just a shame the sound engineers didn't have the mix right for Bush's start with Machinehead. Even with that, the crowd still went nuts when we barely heard the opening octave riff.
Seems like it was a lifetime ago already, but still feels like it was yesterday. I'm still glad my friends and I packed up the cats and left in the middle of day 3. We were fucking exausted, hungry, and thirsty. Couldn't do one more night there. We were shocked when we got home the next day and saw the riot that unfolded a few hours after we left.

Shocked??!! Well I wasn't there but at like 14 I remember seeing it on MTV after watching all that was actually on there and anyways. @TJjjjjjjjjjj Год назад +14

Hahah congratulations you just became your parents. The circle of life continues 😂
But this time you might actually be wrong . Because Objectively there has never been a better time for music. Social media and other 😮platforms (just like RUclips & Spotify) have drastically removed the barriers many artist use to face just to be discovered. Now anyone with an iPhone and and internet connection can get their music to the masses. Just because the type of music you like is not currently popular or in the charts doesn’t mean there are no more good musicians / music 🤦‍♂️ it’s just means you haven’t bothered to look.
The other big benefactor to the above is live music ! Now that record companies don’t just hand out big cheques for cd sales a lot of huge bands are now properly touring again to earn their keep. Lol even Gavin has been doing more “paid appearances” for smaller touring bands

I remember my Pops ripping our music in the 70s … he was a musician/truck driver who claimed Skynyrd, Allman Bros, etc. were a bunch of stoned out hippies running scales with no sense of musicianship. So yeah…pretty standard MO for each generation to bastardize the next generation’s music without really even listening to everything out there. Watching this after Trainwreck i think that bush is the only band during the whole event to do their JOB successfully as a rock band. After seeing the energy and anger of the crowd after Korn what these kids needed was to calm down before their rage got out of control but still be entertained. It was a very difficult task even Jonathan Davis didnt know what was gonna happen after he walked off and bush came on, but their style of music played into this and starting out with Machinehead to match the crowds energy and slowly lulling them down little by little you can see by the time they get to The chemicals between us the crowds definitely calmed down and are moving more of their hands rather than moshing. Glycerine essentially locked in this feel and from there all the way to their encore the mood had changed to more of an energetic melancholy rather than rage pain. I think this set is legendary because of this. Korn did what they do and had prob the best performance but immediately could tell that the energy was intimidating and this is something that would reoccur across the 3 days but bush was the only band who actually quelled the crowd a little. If they ended the event on day one it would've been wonderful but sadly things didnt go that way.

What most of younger generations and even Gen-X's boomer parents don't get, is that the reason Gen-X's music, lifestyle and outlook was so amazing is how we were raised (or not raised if you wanna get real). Our music was brutally honest and reflected the self-sufficiency we had to learn because our d-bag hippy parents were too busy finding themselves or morphing into greedy yuppies and politicians.. But we also had musical influences growing up that never existed before or after us. We learned classical in school, jazz- big band, and the blues from our grandparents, 50's and 60's rock from our parents and our earliest "new" music influences began in the early 1970's and went straight thru to our 20's in the 90's. The world could fall into global nuclear conflict and after the fall-out the only things left alive would be roaches, kieth richards and the majority of Generation "X".

Yah, how'd that work out? It's a shame the most famous festival of all time was started and run by the most incompetent promoter of all time lol .

Just bought tickets to their upcoming tour. Will be first time seeing them. Absolutely pumped. Took me long enough to see the Pumpkins, and they blew me away live. Expecting same from Bush. Rock on baby !

To the most beautiful girl at Woodstock 99, the one that was on my shoulders when Bush performed COMEDOWN ......we met during this set, at this show, and hung out during the entire Bush performance. Out of 250,000 ppl , you were HANDS DOWN the ABSOLUTE PRETTIEST girl at the entire weekend show! Unquestionably. And you were soo super sweet! If you happen to see this , please say hi to me. I was devastated when I fell asleep and missed meeting back up with you at the airplane Hangar for the Rave. I looked for you for the next two days but never saw you again. I seriously wanted to cry. If yall would pin this JIC she miraculously happens to see this, that would be amazing. She was so genuinely nice, I always have wondered about her, and hate thinking she may feel I stood her up

Put on " Come Down " {preferably acoustic Version} by Bush . find a pair of JNCO Jeans throw on your favorite flannel button up after that go to the top of the steepest hill possible and look to the east because with the right kinda eyes you can see the high-water mark , that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back on woodstock 99 ...and there you shall find the one you seek .
P.S. Hope You do find Your " woodstock girl "

Em 1999 eu tinha 19 anos. Essas memórias ficam. Hoje estou com 43 e vim ver novamente. Verdadeira viagem no tempo. Nem a fome, sede. Nem os mercenários barracas conseguiram evitar a mágica que aconteceu nesse show.
