Something seems off about this. I know the "Ben Hogan Golf" brand has been bought/sold numerous times recently, but this isn't the same branding as the current company. I highly doubt these have anything to do with Ben Hogan Golf. But if it works, it works!
I golfed since I was really young. I played regularly into my 20's, then life got in the way had kids new career etc... Now I'm 50. 2 months ago my daughter picked up a set of clubs, so I went and played 9 with her (rented clubs that day) . I looked for about a week and pulled the trigger on a set of these with the stiffer shafts. (I've always had a heavy shot.) I've hit well over 400 balls with the driver alone and besides normal wear seems really solid. Irons you are spot on with your assessment, coming from a set of Ping eye 2's these Hogans are very forgiving.

I think what you called a 4 & 5 wood is actually a 3 & 4 hybrid. Looks like a pretty decent set though!

Great review Gabe! The clubs are labeled FW-817, for Ft Worth and the Ft Worth area code (817).
I was wondering what all that was about. It was such a strange name. But that makes sense.
For a starter set / high handicap player I would drop the 4 & 5 wood and replace with a 7 & 9 wood and drop the 6 & 8 and give me a head cover for that naked putter. Not bad looking for that price.
Maltby - for me. Build your own package, and have them assemble them. In my view the best value by far.
It’s a great way to do it, but going to be way over the head of beginner golfers.
@LetsPlayThru honestly, it wasn't that way for me. I took maybe a month to educate myself, your channel being one excellent source. There are tons of good online info out there. In the end, it was surprisingly easy. All I had to do was invest my time. Once you understand what makes a good beginner club, it's fairly straightforward.

You should do a review on the new Tour Edge package set next. $800 for a 12 piece set with the bag seems like a good deal. I would love to see how it compares to this set.

My daughter bought a set of the Moda Silk lady's clubs and crushed the driver already, we replaced it with their E522 seems to be better. So if those clubs are similar materials and manufacturers chances are the heads are going to dent very easily.

I just placed an order this morning before this video came out for the complete set of Stix you reviewed earlier this year.....go figure. Been away from Golf 25 years and taking it back up now retired.

How does it compare to the other new hogan golf set? The TX682? I prefer the look of the bag and the putter in that cheaper one but worry that I’ll outgrow it quicker, however this one may last me longer and be better value in the long run?
The 817 has both hybrids and a different putter. Depending on how much power your swing produces I would wait for the 817's with the choice of graphite and stiffness. At $499 is still a good price
I haven't seen a review on the callaway XR complete set or the taylormade rbz speedlite complete set. Would love to see those tested.

Great video and a very good round considering that it’s a set not in your specs.. I like the fang tooth putter as well.. that price is definitely not going to break the bank. I love you walk the course.. good way to get some exercise and can get some fatigue factor which can help review clubs.

Your game is really improved since the early days. The whole set for under $500? Just goes to show what the mark-up is on name brands. I really believe the cost for any club by the company is ever more than a $50 - $75. Great review!

I've hit 400+ with the driver alone and atleast that many in the rest of the set, normal wear and tear. (I drive by a driving range an my daily commute. )

Need a little help with some terminology in this review. He mentioned a few times about pressed loft clubs. What exactly does he mean by that? Clubs that are high lofted as compared to normal? Just never heard that term before.
Stronger lofted clubs have a lower degree of loft and generally go further but have trouble staying on the greens because they don’t stop as quickly. Hope that helps.

This is great for starter golfers. Love this. Most new golfers don’t know crap about hoitty toitty etiquette. Kill ball, swing bad, lose ball. Mungo from Blazing Saddles. A very not funny, never to be made again movie.

Hogan San.......looking down from the top they look horrible. Could they have made the topline any thicker? And seeing the back of the club from the top sucks!
