Linux Mint deserved the point for performance and, undoubtedly, software available: Flatpak is simply the way to go. But the issue in this comparison is the time omission: Mint uses the Ubuntu base, but months afterwards. So the software point would suffer as well.

ubuntu also has cinnamon edition which makes it look exactly like mint cinnamon. Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu LTS. Mint 21 mate, XFCE & cinnamon would crash all the time on my old laptop, which seems to crash less on Linux mint 22 cinnamon. Ubuntu just works out of the box after installation - like wifi works automatically along with audio. This isnt the case with Linux Mint which consistently doesnt recognize wifi after a fresh install - which is problematic.

@@NavatejRatnan Gnome looks more polished to me. Every element of the UI follows a modern, uniform design (I'm the kind of person who loves Mac OS or Windows 11 UI). Cinnamon, on the other hand, looks like something from the 2000s that’s kind of similar to Windows but worse.
Cinnamon is fine if you're used to Windows and primarily use a mouse and keyboard. However, I use trackpad a lot, and the trackpad gestures and animations on Gnome are just way better.

Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS has started to feel as buggy as Windows after recent updates, making my daily workflow challenging. After sleep, the Wi-Fi often fails to reconnect, and shutdowns sometimes stall, forcing a hard shutdown. There are times when I think my laptop is off, only to find it heating up in my bag because it didn't actually power down. Occasionally, the system even freezes on the login screen, where no commands work to revive it. I set up my entire environment on this OS expecting stability, but now I’m regretting that choice deeply.

Snaps are enough for me to unequivocally choose Ubuntu. From my experience Snaps work much faster and more stable than Flatpak, Deb or RPM. Every time I launch a Flatpak on my Debian system first a pop up window appears saying "the application is running in the background", and only after a while the application window appears. While snaps launch like a rocket. And this on the same system. I am a Linux user since 2008. Ubuntu and Snaps are awesome and wish them to become even better.
