You touch the reverse feed knob at 00:21 in the video. it is the knob in the center of the stitch length knob. However the part that is missing from the machine is the internal part connected to the reverse feed knob.
Hello, I am looking for a part for my husqvarna type 21E zigzagger. The machine was my grandmothers and I just received it after my aunt passed away. Oddly it wouldn’t work I took it to a person who repairs this type of machine and he told me the part behind the reverse feed knob was missing. the reverse button freely moves in and out without engaging anything. Do you know where I might find the missing part?

I recently picked up a Husqvarna Classic 21e at a flea marked (didn´t know anything about it at the time) for about $15 (blood price, I know) . It virtually looks like it´s been purchased as a wedding gift, tried and then left in a closet for 60 years (which is probably pretty close to the truth). Finish looks brand new, inside bits and bobs look unused apart from a little lint under the stitch plate and all the woolen oil pad thingies are bone dry. In short, pretty darn close to mint condition. NOW:Lately I´ve tried to find out as much as I can about this little gem. What baffles me is that all the american versions of this machine (the Vikings 21E) seem to be much more powerful than the european versions (Husqvarna Electric 21E). The Vikings seem to come in 1 or 1.5 Amp versions, while all the Husqvarna Electrics say 80W on the backplate. What gives? Why are the Vikings so much more powerful? Or are they. Can they do the same heavy duty tasks? Is it even the same machine? Please help me get my head around this if you can. Thanks in advance. Grunde
Hi 🙂 Yes, it is the so-called "mint" condition, and this copy on the video clip was almost "mint", it had a crack on the plastic on the right side and a broken upper thread guide, it was 9/10. As far as I know in the USA the voltage is 110V, the stated motor power is 80 W, this difference of 0.5 A is probably evident on the speed control pedal due to the difference in input voltage of 110/220 V. The mentioned model of the sewing machine has an additional reduction (plastic gears in the lower part of the machine) which further enhances the penetrating power of the needle and reduces the number of stitches per minute, see: 3:32 I recommend detailed lubrication, access to the plastic gears assembly is from the bottom and lubricate with synthetic grease. www.masinskikutak.com/2017/04/husqvarna-automatic-21.html

I am looking for a old school heavy duty machine to fix my boat canopy and repair other canvas and leather type materials around the shop/house. Locally I can get a pfaff 360/362 or a Husqvarna automatic cl21a for about the same price. I know nothing about them , or sowing machines in general. And it looks like you ave had experience with both. I am a little worried that the husqvarna has a less powerfull motor here in europe (80w) then what I see in your videos (1,5a at 110v?). What is in your opinion the best machine of these two?

"You don't know anything about sewing machines",?
