Love thoes outlets never has an issue. Some people think having to break the top plastic parts are a pain but I just do it as I go along only adds seconds to each install. Me and a coworker tried to pull a 12 and 14g wire out of the back to test them and yea they took our body weight tugging. Can't expect more than that and your not wrong there silly easy. They don't cost more in my area and the thought of no exposed metal to short is genius. The being face mounted like that didn't help the depth of the faceplate. They really do shine in drywall situations that the box is sunken or the it's "damaged " and missing chunks. I load tested 20amps in one early on on 15amp for 10ish minutes and didn't melt or fail any worse than a red spec comerical grade outlet. I call that safe in my book 👍.
Yes I definitely do love them, just got my butt kicked like usual lol 😆 I will change all my outlets and switches on my other property that hasn't been changed to these. Love them
Glad you like them. I have places have me replace 1 or 2 outlets here and there or turns fix what's nessary. My secret weapon is to offer a slightly discounted price to replace them all in the place. Knowing that these outlets go way faster I actually make more money on my time and property management feels better they got a discount. It's rare I give a discount prices ussaly are what they are. One complex we have 1/2 the units with all new recipticles and switches and guess what they are getting less calls for work orders. It only cements them calling me for work 👍.
On a metal old work box, I always break off those "mickey mouse ears" on the strap of a switch or receptacle. This allows the device strap to fit in the center of the ears on the old work box, and makes the device flush
Yeppers I usually forget to take the ears off and screw the outlet to the box and realize the outlet will actually fit in there nice if I break those off. With this outlet, I wonder if these could be cut?
Those metal boxes are sure kinda rough to work with especially with 12 gauge wire and gfi or rectangular outlets. I always use the 20 cubic plastic boxes even for just a light switch or outlet. Makes it easier for this old guy.
That’s another reason why I feel use the bigger recept boxes all around. Never know when going to add wires and many 12 gauge wires kicks at least my tail. 😁
I don't know how many cubic inches that little metal boxes are but there smaller than a standard plastic remodel or nail on box. I rarely see metal boxes these days unless it's on a outside wall and it's a old property. I think this is why alot of metal boxes are 4squares with mud rings. Sometimes it's a square peg round hole situation 😆.
probably just enough for a #12 wire to dead end or splice through with a blank plate, forget adding any devices 🤣 each #12 conductor is 2.25 cu in volume, all grounds count as one conductor of the largest size in box and a device counts as "two" of whatever size wire is in there. then there's wire/cable clamps the protrude into the box or integrated NM holder which take away more cubes yet. lol *edited to remove stupid auto-link generation.
When you use a mulberry cover those outlets are the worst and barley able to use them as far as that but overall there very easy you really can’t mess it up
Question, wouldn’t it been easier to put that 2oz outlet into your tool bag than taking out tools from tool bag put in a bucket with your 2oz outlet and then oh I need more tools from tool bag 🤔 “strip gauge oh right here, but we’ll guess”😁love your sense of humor. You know some pro electrician is going to kick your ass on everything you did wrong 😂……great vid 👍
My bag is super heavy lol 😆 how ever I have to do to avoid bringing it in. But it everything is in that bag tho. But yea would have made more sense to bring the bag in. Thanks!!!!
Speed of installation. Alignment, no risk of arcing. Waiting to install in a twenty unit building with seventies recepticals.probably as good of a connection as wago's. PS always check the neutral for voltage.
Saw another guy installing some of those new decora receptacles, that plastic edge was helpful when doing the mud ring covers on a double gang box. It aligned both plugs up for the metal cover to fit over it. Think that was the only benefit he saw in them, just for future reference...they might come in handy in a metal box with a mud ring.

Nice video Brian!
Thanks dude!@
i always use plastic old work if possible , and #14 in a bedroom is allowable unless of course your tying into a 20 amp circuit
Good idea! But around here we have to use metal boxes
Have to have your truck like Steve Lav's
Dude has a fed ex truck lol 🤣

Especially when there are six wires and some big maretts.
Yea these boxes aren't too much fun

Sperry is actually a great brand used in UK
I did my friends entire house with these outlets and switches, 0 issues with them
Gotta love them!!
Cool. I saw your 3 way decora switches and realized I ran out and need 2 for tomorrow, almost forgot. I always like them perfect, sometimes it's pain🫠

Yea it's a cut in box, there a little tight but definitely a life saver!

I would use a drop cloth over a carpet to keep the trimmed wire pieces from disappearing and being left behind.
Definitely a good idea but it's my bro he could find the pieces lol
@2:13 All you have to do is stick it in. Where have I heard that before....😂
Lol 😆 🤣 😂
