I'm surprised you didn't address the dino mode knees in the comparison. NA's knee only bends forward (as the robot elbow) while MS not only has a dedicated knee joint when you extend the legs to bend the correct direction, but you can also rotate the forearms (you have to fold most of the forearm forward at the wrist to access that rotation) to get the robot elbow joint to the back for double jointed dino knees on MS.
Mostly because I prefer the stumpy look, with the legs retracted
@@KatosKollection If it's your preference that is fine, I just feel the knee joint is something of value for a comparison between the two so I brought it up.
@@cameronmoriarty3313 for sure. You're not wrong.
Magic Square definitely hit it out of the park with this Grimlock. Looks like he walked straight out of the cartoon.
Agreed 🤜💥🤛
Man you do a wonderful job as usual. Thank you for all you do kato
You're my hero
Great review! Man that MS Dino mode is undeniably way better !!! I can't wait for my copy to get here! Keep on being amazing!
Thanks, Billy. Look forward to seeing your take on it as well 🤜💥🤛
@@KatosKollection MY MAN! Thank you
Great comparison. You hit all of the main points that I think are important.
Much appreciated, homie
I agree with you on most points. I have both. From the start, I wanted both versions so I can have one in robot mode and one in alt mode. For me, I just love Magic Square robot mode so I will display him as that and leave alt mode for Newage. I just think Newage proportions for robot mode looks a little weird. Cartoon accuracy wise, I think Magic Square wins for both modes. For transformation, paint, and material, Newage wins. Can't wait for your transformation video. Great job.
I don't disagree with any of that
Definitely looks better than NA. I still love all the NA versions offered, but yeah the difference is clearly in favor of Magic Square. The sword isn’t accurate to the character that’s my only complaint.
Both look Awsome!.. Great VS ✨️ 😎🤘
Tbanks, G !
Thanks for the great comparison. Im definitely sticking with NA.
Appreciate you watching. There's no losing option 🤜💥🤛
Sweet! Still have yet to open either of mine lol.
OPEN THE BOX!
I have the NewAge toy version and it's beautiful. But for cartoon look Magic Square is probably better.
Agreed. That NA toy version is fantastic
I feel like it should be noted since it wasn't mentioned, the arms on both extend down for dino mode, but MS is the only one with a proper knee bend in dino mode
See pinned comment
is there any diecast in newage?
Great thoughts. I agree with MS being my preference and with the shortcomings of both. The butterfly joint is a pain and the gap in the body near the legs of the Dino a miss as well. MS transformation will drive you to alcoholism.
Just remember it isn’t always about girth it’s how you play with it lol😂.
Stay awesome!
🤣🤣 yeah, it's a tad over - engineered
My copy is on its way, been looking forward to the MS Dinobots and even more so after this review. NA always does paint and finish top notch but I prefer the size and engineering of MS. Excellent review 👌
Side note, last two purchases I made at TFSafari wouldn't let me use your discount code. Something about limit reached or something to that effect.
Interesting. I'll reach out and let them know. Thanks!
@@KatosKollection I had the same problem with the discount code as well. I actually tried to use it to buy this very figure lol.
Newage Grimlock head can be pulled up and down on the ball joint. It looks like you have it all the way up. That allows the head to look down. If you push down on the head on the ball joint, there will be less of a gap from bottom of the head to the body.
Thanks? I guess.
@@KatosKollection It'll reduce the gangly goofy head look you mentioned in your video.
The New Age Grims looks like he went on a Keto
(Not Kato, Lol) diet. M.S. I think is the winner here for me, glad you review this.
The Kato diet is more fun and centered around ice cream.
Magic square looks better to me, I prefer the larger style, more imposing. But they both look great. Awesome review as you always do, great work.
Thanks, Raz!
Wow. Side by side, the MS one nails that beefiness Grimlock needs, especially in bot mode -- NewAge looks like a teenager by comparison. MS not requiring cover panels for the legs is also a big point in their favor. NA probably wins out if you want the re-decos because they go all in on those.
Completely agree
The plastic on the newage one looks really cheap and shiny, on top of the ugly curvy proportions. The only thing NA did better was the tail articulation, ms definitely for the win
That's interesting. I don't think I've heard anyone say Newage looks cheap. That's why I love options. Everyone can get what they like.
Although the MS looks beefier and aesthetically more pleasing, I prefer the EX version of the NA and other color versions. I can’t justify spending any more money on another legends sized Dinobot.
The EX is a beautiful figure
The MS one is definitely more accurate while the NA one looks like a gender swap Grimlock in comparison with the slimmer proportions
I think i may have 5 different versions of Newage Grimlock...
And they're all fantastic
Mine's on the way! I like both ms and na for their larger bots and i just stopped enjoying the tiny ones idk🤘🤖🤘
The very small bots can be frustrating
@@KatosKollection it was skyfire that got me back on magic square, and that sweet new optimus. But yeah i quit the small bots with the NA seaspray 2 pack
does MS have that same plastic?
Same plastic as?
@@KatosKollection that weird nylon plastic they used in their figures instead of abs plastic
Yeah. The same as ever. Although, recnt figures have felt less gummy
The neck and face on NA are not that great imo. NA is too tall/lanky, it needs beefyness in my eyes. MS Grimlock is better in bot and dinomode imo. Especially being larger in dinomode and better dino arm articulation is great. NA tail articulation is nice, but limited and the tail gets broken up too much because of the segments. MS Grimlock is cleaner and more cartoon accurate. The lack of a nice flame effect is a missed opportunity imo.
Defo Magic square
🤜💥🤛
They both look good, but it’s third-party transformers and I don’t really buy them
Okay
