I don’t understand what is so difficult about the question. There is a difference between controlling music on the watch and playing music on the watch.
If you cannot stream music from various apps without the iPhone, then wtf is the point of the "Cellular" version of this waste of hardware and programming?
I’m beginning to think it’s not possible. I don’t have a music option to follow all the online directions. What happened-!?? I thought this was an evolution of the iPod-!! This thing is worthless-! It’s an overrated stopwatch!!!
So I got cellular Apple Watch. I thought I’d be able to run without my phone. I use pandora don’t judge me. But it doesn’t work. I’ve watched so many RUclips videos and sat through useless hours of how to do it. Plain and simple it doesn’t work. Getting this “cellular watch” was a complete waste of time. It won’t stream. It wont even play “downloaded stations” because it’s downloaded on the phone. Not on the watch. I’ll have to try using Apple Music but right now I’m so frustrated I’m considering taking the watch back all together.

Looks like it’s up to the app developers and only native Apple Music app can currently do that as far as I know. You’re able to either download individual playlists locally onto the watch built-in memory or stream directly using cellular connection. To be honest, I don’t understand why Spotify or RUclips Music wouldn’t allow to stream and listen on the watch itself

Streamlets app lets you use the apple watch speaker for music. So far its the only music app that I've seen use the built-in speaker. Bummer..my old android watch can use it's speaker for spotify, pandora, amazon music, etc.

Bro chill people just go voice memos on your Apple Watch which every single one has, and choose your music on your phone, play the muosc, and record it on the voice memo. Now you can listen to music without wifi and for free(You could also name the voice memo so you know what song you’re listening to

If they don’t allow it I am returning it for that reason alone. The sales rep lied to me then I guess.

You CAN stream Apple Music directly on the cellular or wifi connected Apple Watch without an iphone (such as using the Apple watch as a standalone "phone "). You cannot with Spotify and you May be able to go standalone pn Tidal. I prefer Apple Music (which you can also listen on your Android).

What's happening is I want to play music from my watch because I get the audio text with all the watch metrics charting distance, pace, etc. So what happens is the music automatically toggles to my iPhone and then I don't get the workout alerts.
