In a busking session in coastal town Newquay, Dr Funk covered one of RHCP’s biggest smash hits.
Multi-instrumentalist, live-looper, jazz funk bassist Dr Funk brings busking into the 2020s. He makes the four-string sing. He surfs. His dream is to own a 67 Mustang Fastback. He’s not actually a doctor.

It’s one of the most honest, unfiltered forms of performance you can imagine, and it’s one that the good doctor has known since he was 15. Since moving from Sunderland to Cornwall in search of surf, gigs and good times with his band of schoolmates - south west festival favourites The Big Sets - it’s the only job he’s ever had. Over the years he’s taken his unique style across Europe and, most recently, he’s taken his work across the world as one of the most popular viral street performers online.

Buckethead has been trying for years. He's extremely talented, but makes shite music, let's be honest. It's not the type of stuff the world wants to hear.
@@loganjukes8820 Nonono. It's about muscular perception of the ears and the mental perception to get those sounds perfectly ordered for the brain to process well. In other words, you have to listen to quite a few other things before listening to some Buckethead albums. I understand most of his and I know there are people who do it too... he kind of got so good that he knows how long tempos should last with a fresh riff without falling into monotony and then changing. For example I recommend the albums Colma and Electric Tears which are more quieter.
@@christiancaceres1390 Naaah man, who's been telling you that? 😆 I don't disagree that his melodies and music is complex, that's not the point. So is classical music. But there's good classical music, and bad classical music. I like a lot of Bucketheads music, but he produces hundreds of songs, the vast majority are not great songs. Not inspired, not interesting at all. But that's just my opinion ... my original comment was simply referring to the idea of Buckethead and Dr Funk taking over the world, which could never ever happen. 90% of people just wouldn't understand it. Their music would never sell well.
I believe that great musicians smile when they play.
