Very well done My take on heated gear is the 7v battery powered jacket . That way I can use for other things like Sking , winter hiking and still use for riding . If the Mosko were battery powered I would buy be cause their quality is out standing . Keep up the good work.
I have ridden in all weathers literally hundreds of thousands of miles. The single biggest best thing that I have done by a huge margin over my 40 year riding "career" was to start using heated gear about 20 years ago. It instantly negates being cold, uncomfortable and therefore unsafe on your motorcycle. Winter weather simply becomes irrelevant (apart from icy roads, obvs) Those that state it's not for them or not manly enough are frankly either deluded, in denial of more likely a bit stupid. It's a total no brainer.
Totally agree with you, worth every penny. I feel like people doesn't talk enough of these heated gear 😄, it has been a massive improvement for me and, as you said, i feel way more comfortable and SAFE.
You just need to be sure your bike's stator is rated for the load. Pushing a bike with a dead battery will also keep you warm! Not really an issue on a 1000cc street bike, more so for the small thumper dual sport crowd.
I personally have a Macna heated jacket wich is the most common brand in Europe and I have to say it is a game changer when riding in cold weather. I recommend to all the riders who ride in sub 10° C to get one and start enjoying riding all year round in total comfort, and if needed, adding a pair of heated gloves and pants.
@@ostell Yes, Macna Centre, and yes, it has some insulation even with electrical heating off, I removed the mid layer of the motorcycle jacket (mine is Rev'it) and I replaced it with the Macna, and it does the job pretty well, but when you turn on the heating ohhh boy ohh boy it is WARM 🤤
@@ostell Macna has a new jacket like the Ectotherm, it's called Ascent. It even has real down filling. I have the Macna Centre jacket as well and would take the new one. The centre jacket is like a soft shell jacket and not very comfortable to wear underneat a motorcycle jacket in my opinion.
I have a battery powered vest and it’s one of the best investments I’ve made. I carry two batteries and what I really like is using it as additional warmth in my sleeping bag if I get cold as well as I can use it for almost any activity.
Thanks for your review! The one thing I look for if I’m going to replace my heated mid-layer is if it has connectors at the end of the sleeves for heated gloves, it doesn’t look like this has them.
Originally from the pacific MW, I’ve had gerbings gear since the 90’s. It extended the riding season to nearly year round. Don’t need it so much in SoCal, but never leave on a long trip without it.
Thanks Ian! After years of being miserable and and grudging over the weather from December through March, I just bought this heated jacket to add to my heated gloves and socks collection. So glad you reviewed this jacket!
It's impossible to overstate the value of heated gear for extended travel. Though I don't use mine very often, each time I do I feel as if the cost was insignificant when compared to the ability to ride comfortably on a day I otherwise may not have been able to ride at all. Last fall, I rode in SW Wyoming for several hours with the temps hovering in the mid 20's (F) and did so in complete comfort. Without the heated gear, there's no way I would have even set out. I've owned Gerbings for many years, but the product you show looks great and should certainly be considered by potential buyers.
Heated jackets are the best! Here is a tip…. I soldered the ends of a coax to my trickle charger so now I can quickly charge any of my bikes and they also all have the receiving coax coming from the bike for when I need to plug the jacket or vest into them. Just means you don’t need any adaptor cables.
Nice review, heated gear is a necessity to extend your riding season. Although Mosko makes great quality stuff it’s quite expensive. I’ve had Gerbings gear for many years, good quality. The current Gerbings heated jacket is about $100 less than the Mosko unit. You do have to buy a controller for a nominal cost, but the advantage to the Gerbings is the controller can be worn outside the jacket making adjustment easier than the Mosko unit on the inside. You don’t want to have to open the jacket or stop to change the temperature.
Big Mosko Moto fan … I have an embarrassing amount of their soft luggage … somehow, this thing flew under my radar and I’ve been wanting to pick something up for camping and this thing is perfect. Insta-buy. Great timing for this review, thanks ;)
My wife has it too she loves it, had to get it modified to get a better fit for her , but she loves it. I just hope in the future they come up with a small battery pack you can use while not on the bike .
It’s a great jacket and I love mine but the hips are too snug and I can see you have the same issue. It’s more of a vanity issue and It doesn’t prevent me from wearing it but Mosko admitted they need to fix that issue. Not sure why they didn’t use a draw string method to allow for customized fitting. So many good ideas with Mosko gear with minor execution issues and sizing problems.
Interesting point, the battery plug on these and the Dango Design Quickfire helmet light batteries are the same. So you can run this for about an hour or so while off the bike using the helmet light battery.
I fought using heated gear for decades. When I finally gave in and bought first gloves, then a jacket liner... I kicked myself(multiple times ;) ) for being so stubborn for so long 🤨 Its really the only way to stay riding for extended periods in cold temps.

Damn this is really quite genius. This way you always have the safety net of a heated jacket with you and don't have to bring seperature stuff or leave it at home when you are not sure how the temperatures will be. It would have been interesting to know which zones are getting heated on the jacket.
Thx for the review. I was in the camp of “I don’t need that crap”. But what people don’t realize, once you get cold on the bike it takes a very long time to get warmed up. Ruins the evening after a long day of riding.
Wish you’d talked through fit and sizing on this video a bit. I’m short and stocky and worry about the fit-enough so that I reached out Mosko about it last year. To their credit, they forewarned me that they had some sizing issues in the first year’s run (last year) and that the initial run fit super slim. They said they intended to correct that for this current model year.
Absolutely love my Ectotherm! This thing works awesome for motorcycle riding, around camp, or just as a jacket in town. I also plug this into an antigravity xp-1 for a heated jacket for non-motorcycle use.
Nice Review! But I prefer thin heated base layers like “warm&safe”, which gives me more freedom on my bike. And for campsite I carry an cheap puffy jacket with me. 😉
I would be too concerned about breaking the tiny little heating elements to wear it daily and pack it down tight. Please keep us updated on the reliability.
My worry about this jacket is that it's ~43watts and draws at 3.4 when the other 'top of the line' heated jackets are almost double that. I want to be able to ride down into temps around zero or lower so I just don't think this jacket would make me happy for the money. That's a shame because I do like the style. I just wish it was more closer to what the other stuff out there is pushing. I'm looking at a Keis premium heated jacket for example.

cool. I have one for skiing, but it comes with a chunky battery (obviously). Do the different heating levels activate different areas? Any control of "zones"? More importantly, how long did it take to master the quick change lol!?
Another great video Ian. I'm a big Mosko Moto fan myself. Wonderful people, great quality products and phenomenal customer service. Quick question... A Battery Tender typically has a 7.5 amp fuse. Over the years I've melted/blown a couple 7.5 amp fuses with the initial high draw my portable air compressor pulls at start up. I typically replace the 7.5 amp fuse with either a 10 amp or 15 amp fuse, and have had no problems since. Of course, Battery Tenders are fused at 7.5 amps for a reason. If your battery has a bad cell and/or cell issue, you do not want to feed it more than a specified amount of amperage. When using the Battery Tender SAE lead, in conjunction with the COAX adapter you've listed, (great idea, by the way) have you had any issues blowing/melting the standard 7.5 amp Battery Tender fuse when selecting the warmest setting on the Mosko Moto Ectotherm Jacket? Thanks again for the great job you do.
Yes, we are all pussies and I was fighting a long time with the purchase of the Mosko Ectoterm. Shame on you, as you pushed me over the edge and I had to order it now 😀
The biggest lie in motorcycling is that everything has to be proprietary. Meaning if it isn't "moto" gear it's crap. After hundreds of thousands of miles at age 60 in all types of bikes... I wear an Adventure Spec Super Shirt and whatever the hell I want over the top of it. Everyone is more concerned about what they wear how they look then the ride these days and gets all wrapped up in the marketing Magic.
@@BigRockMoto Yup. I've use Gerbing stuff on sleds and very rarely on bikes for 20 years. If I had to buy one thing on the bike that is heated it would be a vest only.

there are already i think check on the site
I'm sure the gear Mosko Moto is making is of outstanding quality. But for me their gear is simply too expensive.
Everyone is more concerned about what they wear how they look then the ride these days and gets all wrapped up in the marketing Magic.
i get your point but heated gear is amazing
@@BigRockMoto Yup. I've use Gerbing stuff on sleds and very rarely on bikes for 20 years. If I had to buy one thing on the bike that is heated it would be a vest only.
@Eric Judish If you can get one... Been sold out for months.
Non-moto battery powered heated gear is available. Venture Heat is one company that makes both.
Currently $349

Enjoying a motorcycle cannot happen without some misery. Don't use heated gear or you'll lose the joy of riding
the heated gear , "Hot Wired" from Cycle Gear is just as good and much more affordable....as in over $100 LESS for the inner jacket
The hot wired is also bluetooth controllable from your phone and has 10 steps of heat.
@@MotoXplor yeah with motorcycle gear almost every time you can tell the difference in quality
@@nonsononessunooko4066 In your opinion, is the Cycle Gear jacket as good of quality as this Moscow moto ?
@@slalomking problably will be fine anyway 250$ its good quality anyway but if you have the money go for the moscow
hotwired stuff is fine but the mosko works way better as a standalone jacket
