    Love this. Feel like I sacrificed fun for work in my 20s by working multiple jobs and going to school at night. I’m 29 now and it’s finally starting to pay off. Got a great career, a couple degrees, a nice home at the beach with my wife. My 30s are going to feel like retirement. I’m just going to work and relax.

      B Q who said any of what im doing was easy? Also im from the UK so its no harder for other races. Started off with £500 in my pocket and built a business from nothing, i didnt have any help. So no, race has nothing to do with living your dreams.

    • @conorstechreviews1
      @conorstechreviews1 6 лет назад +6

      B Q Do you mind explaining how? I'm open to change my view on this but in the UK all races have equal oppurtinity, I've never seen systematic racism in UK in my 20 years here, I've never seen or heard of a high amount of racist police that match what the US police are like or even come close. In fact ive never seen a police officer be racist, ever. I'm not saying it doesnt happen in the UK but it's doesn't effect minorities in a way that makes it less possible to them to achieve their dreams. Its like that in America but not over here. I just have it easier that african americans because of the country I'm from, not my skin colour. Besides, colour in general isnt what we think it is, just cause you see a colour doesnt mean its that colour, its just how you brain is designed to percieve it, a snake wont see the same colour, therefore what colour is anything really?

    I’m 42 and I totally agree with what he is saying. Here are my thoughts based on my experience:
    1. Work your ass of in your 20’s. That’s when you have the most energy. In your 20’s you can stay up till 2am focusing on your career.
    2. Also, network as much as possible. Build as many relationships as you can. You’ll need those relationships later in life.
    3. Don’t worry about clubbing. All it does is cause you to spend a shit load of money when you could invest it.
    4. Eat healthy and workout. When you get in your 40’s it’s harder to lose weight and enjoy all the physical stamina you have.
    5. Be careful when it comes to relationships. If the person doesn’t want to stand by you when you’re struggling then you want to let them go. You want someone that is going to support your dreams.
    Bonus tip: Plan if anything were to happen like what happen in 2020.
    By the time you get to your 40’s you should be rolling and be able to enjoy a great life. Just my opinion.

      Mid 30s here. 100% agree.
      People think "I need to get it out of my system" or "life stops when you're 30/40" -- all of that is bs.
      Like with everything in life, "fun" is so much better when you've earned it.

      No bro, if you do it right by the time you’re 30 you should be able to afford the greatest life possible, many people get rich in the span of 5-8 years when they work hard enough, Mark Zuckerberg became a billionaire at age 23 because he is basically a prodigy kid, but if you work, and study hard you should be able to afford the greatest life possible by the age 30 or 35 depends on how hard you work but most importantly on how much do you believe in yourself.

    I am 32 and I am doing well. At 23 I asked myself a big question ‘What do you want?’ I knew that i wanted a good job, travel the world, be financially independent. I knew I had to do something different to realize all that. I went back to school, did my masters and by 28yrs, I was down with 3 degrees. I am now earning a 6 figure salary at 32, have travelled to 16 countries, met a good man, I am in a good place. On my 30th birthday, I looked back at my 20s and was pretty proud of myself. I had set a strong foundation for my 30+.
    My advice to you folks in your 20s, wait to start a family especially under 25, go back and advance your education, stay away from bad relationships as they can distract you from your life goals and finally get used to cutting off people that won’t feed you with the right energy. Good luck!

    I’m 23 and am honestly soooo thankful for people like Steve sharing this information. I was raised by a single mother who struggled to make ends meet. My father was absent, so I never had someone to teach me these values. But I have been following this advice since I was 17 and am on track to pay off all my student loans within 1 year after I graduated. I have my business plan ready and mentors who are invested in me. I’ve accomplished everything I’ve put my mind to, and I can honestly say that I won’t be working a 9 to 5 past 5 years from now. I’ll be living off my investments I’m planting now. So thankful to God, as well as men and women like Steve for BEATING this mentality into my head.

      In my 20’s I was in the Marine Corps and graduated from college. I still accomplished nothing, especially with money and investing.
      The same conventions that applied to young adults in the past don’t apply today. You used to have to stick it out, work overtime, really stretch yourself. People care more about your personal business, your digital footprint, and the older people are no longer leaders because you learn everything on the web.
      There’s no such thing as a proper employer paid pension anymore. They’ll be no SSI soon. They distinction between skilled labor and general labor are no longer objective, mainly because of 3rd party and illegal immigration.
      We should take a few steps back to regain the social structure we had before 2007.

    If anybody reads this, please listen to Steve and follow his advice. I know a lot of men/women that tend to live in the moment when they are in their 20’s and don’t buckle down and get their shit together until their late 20’s early 30’s because they did not have the maturity. I dropped out of high school on Feb 14th, 2007 which was the last day before break at the age of 17. My 18th birthday was on the 25th of Feb. I had my Daughter at 23 and by age 28 I made a goal for myself that by the time I am 30, I was going to have my GED and have completed an EMT course at my local community college to work as an EMT. I completed both of my goals before I turned 31. Now at 33, I still am working as an EMT with a goal of becoming an RN. Knowing that I could have been a DR or a flight nurse at my age now gets to me but knowing that I lacked the maturity to take on that challenge in my early 20’s definitely softens the blow. Knowing what I know now is what makes me a better person and better ready to take on the challenge of taken on higher education!

    Honestly, 20’s is a learning experience and I would never regret what I did. the reason I’m smarter in my 30’s is because of my lessons in my 20’s. it’s never too late to start. you would not know better in your 30’s if you never threw away your 20’s. it’s a life lesson.

    • @DarkButMysterious
      @DarkButMysterious 2 года назад +25

      Exactly. I know people in their 30's who took Steve's advice...they regret it. There is no secret formula to living life "right". It's your life. Deep down we know what we want at a set time. All it takes is done introspection and honesty. It's also important to live life as much as possible, because thats life. A lot of men I know who were or are succesful regret working their life away. One man in particular always said he wished he spent more time living life instead of working all the time. He had the finances but worked a lot. He died leaving a legacy and is remembered for his accomplishments and beautiful soul but it will always resonate with me how much he wanted to enjoy life but never got to do so to the extent he wanted. Deep down he knew what he wanted and needed. There is no formula to life.

    • @DarkButMysterious
      @DarkButMysterious 2 года назад +12

      You don't truly know what you want until you let yourself live life on your terms. If you want to enjoy your twenties do it. Life is short. If you truly feel like working your butt off in your twenties is the way to go then do so. Neither is a good or bad choice. You won't know if it's the right choice until you do it but you'll sleep better at night if you lived a happy and peaceful life when you do what your soul truly wants.

All this happened because I experienced family problems very soon in my life, thats why I realized sooner than everyone in my age, that I will be left with nobody but myself! This is one of the best advise I've ever heard while I'm still in my 20s now. Never had a girlfriend cuz I'm trying to put myself first and chase my dreams to reality, although there were a lot of women chasing me but nah. One of the things I do take seriously is to create your life first before relationship, and I mean by settling yourself for your future life.

    Remember this,
    Everything has its own time!
    Even if you had gotten these advices when you were in your young 20's (you sure did get 'em, but you didn't listen) it wouldn't change a thing, you can only change your life when YOU recognize and WANT that change. I usually say today that I should have studied at university in my early twenties as I'm doing now when I'm 30ish. If I had done that in the past it would have been the wrong decision because I didn't want it back then as I want it now.
    I feel slightly behind in some ways and ahead in others, because I have gotten 10+ years of working experience, some traveling and learned a lot about relationships. Today I'm grateful for all the tools that I have in my toolbox, but if I could change one thing looking back it is that I should have gone through some kind of therapy and prioritize healthy relationships instead of money and my ego.

    I am living proof Steve Harvey is right. Last year September I turned 40 and I wrote, directed, produced, and self-financed my first off Broadway play. My first. And I thought I would have directed my first film or play at 30! But what happened? Life.
    I went through a quarter life crisis when I was 25. 9-11 happened when I was 23. I had a hard time finding work after that. My grandmother died. And then I fell into a depression. And then my parents didn't support my filmmaking dream. My father wanted me to be a nurse. My mother wanted me to be a teacher. When I tried teaching I got laid off. When I tried computers I had a useless degree when employers were looking for Microsoft certifications which are 2 different things. When I finally followed my dream in my late 30s, the right people came and blessings started to come.
    So I just want to add what Steve said - find out what is God's purpose for your life is and get to work as soon as you find out. The sooner you find out what that is - and how you can make a living doing it, the less time you will waste. You are not going to be young forever. I'm going to be 41 and I am working on my 2nd play but I have arthritis in my knee and I'm in pain. So please. Be kind to yourself and don't make that mistake.

      2 years out of college now, I've been working at an advertising agency since then, and I've been doing reasonably well. However, I graduated in one of the worst parts of the pandemic, shit was real, so I knew I either had to figure it out or move back in with my parents. Had to grow up real quick.
      The reason I share that with you is because you don't get to choose the circumstances of when you step out into the "real world." And while I'm not gonna say things are much better now than they were then, if you think taking some time to yourself is what you need to do and you can afford to do it, then that's probably what you should do. But don't take that time to "chill." Take that time to put together a game plan and make sure your head is screwed on straight, and when it's time for you to start making moves, commit to it 100%

    I definitely felt/feel so different to people who are my age. I'm 26 and instead of drinking or partying, I started 3 online businesses, worked on my mindset, physical health. I work for myself, have my own apartment, have my dream life, and continuing to build and scale them. I feel like I have just scratched the surface of my potential! I found it hard to find male partners around my age that compliment my drive, personality and lifestyle, so I mostly date older men. Not to say I didn't have fun in my 20's. I went out dancing, restaurants, travelling, meeting new people (I don't really drink). I didn't have any friends in high school or uni who were entrepreneurial or were ambitious to my level. Instead I listened to podcasts, read books, watched youtube videos and learnt from coaches all over the world. I honestly just had myself and the desire to learn. I spent over 40k of my own money to invest in coaches to teach me how to start my own businesses. I totally think it's possible to still have fun, be social and prioritise creating an empire for yourself. Surrounding yourself with high-level thinkers and performers were life-changing for me. I didn't have that in my physical reality, so I utilised the internet and went ham on podcasts and learning from people through social media.

    Man this is SOLID wisdom. I’m 27 and I deeply regret that I didn’t go to college after high school, and work on my degree and focus on building businesses. But I didn’t have the mindset that I do now. I was sooo focused on men and wanting to be married so bad… and it was all because of my childhood trauma. I never felt loved by my parents. They were both abusive. I didn’t have any guidance or positive influence. I tried to get a decent paying job so that I can move out from the abuse. I was 25 until I was able to find a decent paying job that would cover All of my living expenses. And after I finally moved out, I had a nervous breakdown from all of the abuse and suffering that I had been experiencing. I couldn’t even focus on bettering myself because I was so traumatized. I’m just now really getting my mental health together. It’s game time now.

    Absolutely agree. I'm 34 now. I regret so much wasting my entire youth on bullshyt. This [regret] has been a recurring theme throughout my 30's. In my defense, I didn't have a good foundation growing up and I can't blame my parents for it giving that they themselves weren't properly educated or well founded either. And in the midst of my poor life choices I thank God that I awoke. But for the past 4 years now I've been diligently trying to build my life up. 4 years in and on the outside looking in I'm static. But it couldn't further from the truth. I've grown so much as a person and my dominos are aligned. Soon the domino effect will start and I have faith that my life will only get better. But I do realize that I have a late start in life therefore it's not gonna be an easy journey. But I have faith that in the end it'll all be worth it.

      I feel yah.. I didn't have a good foundation with my parents either. My Dad was always verbally abusive towards everyone in the family ever since i was a kid and maybe even before i was born. He also didn't like my middle sister and I's chosen career paths either via Art and Photography so he decided to yell and not even help us achieve our dream. Now he is in his 80s and i do not really feel like speaking to him about what i do anymore even if he asks i will just give him a general answer. I'm 26 soon to be 27 now and despite being lazy and introverted, I am just trying to better myself by learning new skills for personal development one step at a time.

Also, if you’re in the United States you might has well give up on that… but I do have a suggestion. Why don’t you mic up and have someone film your games ? And post highlights/heated interaction on tiktok ? Kinda like those internet basketball players like ballislife theprofessor. Then you can build a brand around the sport and eventually be in the same space has the pros.

    It’s nothing wrong with living “wild and free” in your 20’s. Life isn’t all about work and trying to live up to society’s version of success. I’ll be 30 this October and look back and see that I lived in my young life. Simply put. Of course if I stayed dedicated to “the American dream” then I’d be “in a better position in life” and I’ll live the same way if I got to do it all over again because I love who I am and what life (including traumas) has made me. Let’s just move on. We lived the way we wanted to. All we can do is what we can now and allow the younger ones to be young as we were.
