    As an owner of a '22 Apollo Ghost, I must start off sulking about the brakes. I see what the industry's up against - these tires & wheels are tiny, so tires wear fast. The discs are "small bicycle" size, but the speeds are closer to motorcycle speeds than bicycle. So of course, brake pads are wearing out very fast for me. I'm thinking of upgrading to a different brake system, but I've also ordered the Phantom V3 a week ago so I can take advantage of regen braking. I'm very pleased to see they're putting some good lumens in the headlight & also (though I haven't used them yet), the signal lights seem really good.
    One thing I'm a bit confused about is, why devote an entire button to iterate through 'gears'? Maybe I'm alone in this, but on the Ghost, I put it into 3rd gear every time I ride.
    What I like most about Apollo is, they're not in the shameless race to make e-scoots faster. Sure, more power, more range, better materials, better water resiliency, bigger tires, better suspension, better storage, more everything - but these things are VERY dangerous. I've been riding motorcycles since I was 16yrs old & the only thing more dangerous than riding a scooter in a busy city is riding a motorcycle on an interstate.
    Note: Most of these e-scoots are "illegal" in your area. The laws are outdated & proper police ignore the good guys, but keep in mind if you're out there scaring people or riding 50km/h + past people who are walking, you're going to lose your scooter & news media & police LOVE to bring up examples like that to serve as a warning & to bring in some kind of fun-smothering, catch-all regulation. Wear a helmet, and if you find an empty sidewalk, STOP PASSING PEDESTRIANS AT HIGH SPEEDS! You'll get us all pinched! Pep talk over!

      And the same pep talk to e-bike riders. Stop riding carelessly, don't give a bad name to e-bikers. There are those who would love to legislate bicyclists e-scooters (esp. e-bikers) out of existence.

    • @NunchucksHabit
      @NunchucksHabit 3 месяца назад +1

      @@coastdaze748 Yes there are - and another angle now is from insurance companies for apartment buildings. I have the 2023 Apollo Phantom now, and its battery is UL Certified, something insurers are asking for to prevent fires. No Nami scooters' batteries are UL Certified & they lead the pack in production scooters in most categories. Legislators want to go after scooters any way they can, so it's still my contention that we all act as ambassadors in a sense when riding around pedestrians & bicyclists. Match their speed as best you can, and safe it for empty roads/trails to put the hammer down. I found that on 10" wheels, 71km/h just isn't smart, lol. But I actually enjoy commuting, something I couldn't say since I was a teenager.

    Considering this is not an apollo sponsored review, I would argue that their needs to be more objectivity when comparing this scooter to the competion. This is a light heavy weight scooter which is priced to compete against Kaabo Mantis King GT, Vsett 10+ and Nami Klima. All these scooters are 60V, have more powerful sinewave controllers(faster of the line acceleration), all have base models are with hydraulic breaks and all have hydraulic suspension. They also all happen to have faster top speed then Apollo phantom v3. Additionally most people would prefer hydraulic shocks for comfort vs spring suspension. Also in case of Vsett 10+ it has been available on the market for over 2 years. Apollo had enough time to iterate their scooter to be more competitive in this aspects. I do not agree this factors are irrelevant and should be neglected when it's compared to other similar priced scooters.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +5

      Apollo is making their scooters in house , the 60v scooters are faster , but most consumers don’t need the fastest of the line , or best top speed. The phantom is unique because it is a original design , fully dedicated regen brakes which makes your physical brakes 97% unneeded , an Apollo app , a newly built controller. The Nami Klima we have not tested yet. The Vsett 10+ and mantis king GT are excellent , however this scooter is innovative and has very unique features.

    • @Alfred171992
      @Alfred171992 Год назад +6

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Apollo phantom v3 design is not that different from Nami Klima, Kaabo Mantis King and Vsett 10+. Apart placing the suspension shocks diagonally vs vertically, it's practically the same design.( And they went with spring shocks vs hydraulic. Strange for in house design.) What I would say has a truly unique and innovative design is something that segway has done with their GT1 and GT2 scooters. To say that most customers dont care about top speed or of the line acceleration when they spend over $2200 on a scooter is not accurate. I think in this category of scooters they do. If they didnt care they would buying something under $1000. Some people use scooters to commute to work and like to have fast acceleration at traffic lights. Additionally fast acceleration (powerful controllers) contribute to better hill climbing, especially if you are a larger rider. The newly built controllers Mach1 are 25A. Nami Klima has 40A controllers and even Vsett is at 35A (and that's with 60 V battery). Mach1 controller under Ludo with 52V battery is likely to be slower then Vsett 10+ or Nami Klima with the more powerful controllers. I am not saying this is bad scooter, but do want to add some objectivity to this discussion.

      @@Alfred171992 : If you want "real" speed then get a motorcycle. It's pointless to keep yammering about the phantom being too slow or poorly equipped. It's good enough for the money. If you want long distance, or true off-roading, then get something that uses gasoline. Oh, and bike paths have speed limits and so do residential roads. Faster escooters can also mean bigger traffic tickets for speeding, assuming it is even legal to ride one in the first place. Cheers 😸

    • @Alfred171992
      @Alfred171992 Год назад +6

      @@urban_phantom7750 Thank you for your response! I didn't realize that I hit a nerve, when I gave my opinion here. Anyway I will respond to your what looks like a ghost account. After watching the review it seems like Apollo Phantom v3 is graded in its own categories that have never been applied to any other scooter (In house design, Mach1 controller, regen breaks, ludo mode), which in my opinion is subjective. All other scooters that ESG reviews (ie Kaabo, Vsett,) are graded on the concrete specifics like battery size, battery cell type, controller amperage, which across the industry have been considered as essential characteristics. With apollo phantom V3, it seems like we do not want to talk about 1216W 18650 battery, or mechanical breaks or the spring shocks. We want to grade it on a different scale because its a very important scooter. We want to talk about ludo mode (the slowest top speed mode of all light heavy weigh scooters), Mach1 controller 25A controller (2 year old vsett has 35A and just released Nami Klima has 40A). Regen breaks are great( but what's the stopping distance?). Anyway, if you like Apollo Phantom V3 definitely get it, but I dont think I have seen ESG be more lenient on a grading scooters characteristics.

      @EScooterGuide I have already done that, and they said they didn't have a manual they also told me that version 3 can not turn off one of the motors. which, in my personal opinion, is a step back when there's times you don't need both Motors and to be able to save on battery power. Also, there's no way to turn down the strength of the regen break. I have it on the lowest setting, and it almost flipped the scooter when pressed it down.😐

    Big credit for finally putting indicators on the front - which is my biggest irritant. Way more important than the back. Hope the switch is easy to use with gloves.
    However …
    Dim display. Honestly. What is the point of a display if you can’t see it properly in direct sunlight - the time when we need it most.
    The other obvious fails. 45km range. Not enough. Tires not tubeless.
    After three versions you can’t get this right? These things are obvious.
    I’m looking for an upgrade. This isn’t it for me.

      Side note: others have reported that the V3 display is brighter than the V2, so it's possible ours is an anomaly, but it's the only one I have to judge by, so I had to call it out. -Paul

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Appreciate that Paul. Thanks. You’d think they’d have tested your supplied model (I know I would if I was allowing you to review!) and called out any known issues. It’s disappointing. Such a basic thing. I rather have the old Dualtron displays that are super clear than a fancy one that I can’t read.

    What’s with the 62mph speed limit?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +1

      You can set an upper bound to wherever you want, but ultimately you're limited by how fast the motors can push you. But if you wanted to set it to 27mph, for example you could do that and never go faster than an indicated 27 mph. 62mph = 100kph which is just a nice roun stopping point. I also might be running the prototype version of the app here, I have both production and proto apps on my phone and am not sure which I was using when filming. -Paul

    I had the NIU KQi3 Max and it's garbage. I was getting so much vibration from it that my right arm became numb so much so that I had to go through therapy to restore the nerves. Scooters with such small tires need suspension. Right now I'm shopping for a replacement which will either be a Gosen Q7 ebike or the Phantom.

    It seems like Apollo is going to focus more on having a line up of scooters for cruising instead of performance with their ̶A̶p̶p̶l̶e̶ ̶M̶1̶ Apollo Mach1 controller. Will Apollo make a sporty performance scooter in the future?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +3

      The focus feels like it's heading towards reliability, ergonomics and being sporty-commuters, more than raw ultimate performance scooters. I'm reviewing the Apollo Pro right now, and getting the same vibe. It will probably pay off for Apollo and their riders in the long run, but it's not as sexy as being able to say something goes 70mph for sure. -Paul

    • @pacochawa2746
      @pacochawa2746 Год назад +2

      Realisticly you cant even ride that fast due to speed limits. Technically dmv states scooters can only go 25mph on bike paths. I am not going to vegas every time I want to floor it lol. Cops dont seem to care 30-40 hope that stays in effect. But when people go 60 on a damn bike path with pedestrians come on? Im not regreting apolos research decisions. Though going fast is fun... Just do it on an abandoned no mans land lol

      The V3 Apollo is more performance for 99% of the market especially with the new controller and Luda mode. Doesn't make sense to go any faster on a scooter. They are smart to focus on improving an already winning formula with added reliability and performance.

  • @alexlittig7927
    @alexlittig7927 Год назад +2

    they need to up there game on performance. 0-30 in over 7 seconds is an epic fail for ludo mode. that's actually quite slow vs the competition. the single motor segway gt1 does 0-30mph much faster. I was honestly expecting the 0-30 time to be about 5 seconds or faster. I get all the other tech but calling this ludo is losing its reputation when you look at the competition.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад

      I was a little surprised myself, that it's only a little faster than the V2. The prototype Ludo we tested a year ago was insane. I feel like Apollo is using a lot of restraint to not just let loose with performance, and my gut feel is that they're doing it for the sake of longevity. I definitely see their engineering going that direction on the Apollo Pro I'm testing now. I'm super curious to see how Apollo scooters are holding up relative to other scooters a few years from now.
      The V3 is still quick, but not as LUDO as I thought it might be. -Paul

    I always see people complaining about the tires. Flats etc.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +1

      I think most of the problems comes from people riding with low tire pressure. Scooter tires have a ton of surface area relative to their volume. Like, almost 10X the ratio that cars have. So all scooter tires typically need a little top up once a week. I think the vast majority of flats are due to hitting a pothole or really any seam in the pavement (like a driveway) at low pressure. Even when the tires don't look low, they can be low enough to cause a pinch flat. Tubeless do a better job handling this situation, but keeping tire pressure up all but eliminates pinch flats too! -Paul
