Many mothers have to travel for work. This shaming has to stop. Life does not end once you have a baby. If you have family who can and are very willing to care for the little one....take the opportunity! It helps nourish the relationship between you and your partner too. Besides, whenever my brother and sister-in-law have gone away for a few days, we LOVED having my nephew to ourselves and I know HE loved it too!
Just because you go for a weekend away together or you go to Chicago to support your husband as he runs a marathon doesn’t make you a bad parent!! Please do not feel bad for taking some time for yourselves!! I have every confidence that she had a great time with her grandparents. 😃🌻

Thank you! ❤️ I feel so lame now having said about this at the beginning of the video, because all of the comments on this video have been so amazing! BUT in the past I’ve had such awful comments about leaving river! One person was saying I was terrible for leaving her for even one night and that she hadn’t left her children overnight till they were 8?! 🤷🏼♀️ I’m not going to drop down to the level of parent shaming myself and criticise that... but everyone has their own way of parenting and as long as riv is safe, happy and being well cared for then I don’t think there’s an issue there. She did have the best time with mikes family! :) xx
Some parents and kids can handle time away and even love it...other kids not so much :) I'm sure River is loving some grandparents time :) if she didnt adjust well I'm sure Mike's parents would let you know. Every kids personality is different, I think some parents forget that and project their child onto other kids.
My youngest nephew TELLS his parents to 'go away' when he knows he is spending the night with us. He actually escorts them to the door! :) Once, after they left, he turned to his grandmother and said, "Time to party!!" BTW, he's 4.
My parents used to leave us at my grandparents many times expecially in summer, and I'm so glad they did those memories are so precious now. So fleur don't feel bad every parent needs there time either for work or a small break and I can tell you grandparents love their children children more so you know that they are in safe, loving hands. Xxx
That's what family is all about. Children getting used and getting to know their immediate and extended family. It's normal behaviour everywhere else in the world except the UK, which is so sad.v

same here! My mom was a single mom and had to work late and during my school breaks so I stayed with my grandparents and I absolutely loved it. Didn't hurt me AT ALL. xx

Not that it’s anyone’s business how you raise your child but it is so so good for, not only River to have some time away from you all and spend some good quality time with her grandparents, but it’s also very healthy for you and Mike to have time away from her. You and Mike still need to have some alone time. That’s needed for a good healthy marriage. Happy Healthy Marriage = Happy Healthy Kids

We often used to looked after our nephew if his parents went away. Spoilt him rotten. He loved it!
He then started to come & stay during the summer holidays (at his request) and at aged 17....he still comes! 😂
It's so healthy for children to have these memories & the reassurance of the love of their whole family. Not just the parents.

Having family support is amazing- they get to build deeper bonds with our kids and there is nothing wrong with parents having a little time away, whether for work or not. You are always going to be the best parents for little River. Much, much love xxxx
This vlog was great. I feel like it's the first time we get to see Fleur cheer Mike on in something that's a dream of his. I'm sure she does this all the time, but we always see it the other way around because this is her channel. Loved it!
Never say you are bad parents or listen to anyone who does. You are allowed to continue with your life after you’ve had a baby. River won’t remember this and would you leave her if you didn’t think she would be loved and cared for by people, NO! I know it hurts to leave them but love is protecting your children, would you rather her on a plane in a different country or at home surrounded by love, not upsetting her routine and knowing she’s completely safe 💞 xx

So lovely to watch you supporting Mike in the marathon.
I know there are already a bunch of comments about it being okay to be away from River but I wanted to add my experience. My kids are 22 and 19 now and we left them with grandparents periodically for date nights and also trips away when they were little. It helped develop a wonderful bond with their grandparents. It also helped nurture the relationship between my husband and I. Once the kids grew up we still had a strong relationship and weren’t “strangers” to one another. My youngest is in the US Air Force now and my oldest is 22 and doesn’t need us as much and my husband and I are having fun traveling, etc. Kids eventually grow up and make their own lives so I feel like it’s important for parents to always work to have that time together while they are raising their children. You are great parents!
I'm a grandma and absolutely treasure time with my granddaughter. She thinks I'm so cool ( which I am) and we have such special time together. I hope these memories last a lifetime for her as for me. Good for you to allow those memories to grow. Tough for a new parent but so important.

Being left at my grandmothers' for a few days is some of my best memories. Don't feel bad leaving your little one with family! It's amazing that she has so many people who love her. It's great for everyone to have some time away.

Yay Mike! So proud of you! You're doing nothing wrong leaving your baby with family. You weren't gone that long. And like you said, it's for the best so she won't get sick.
Enjoy the help and take these trips while you can because when you have multiple kids (we have 3 under 6) its harder to leave and harder for family to take them. they have a schedule and school so its not easy enjoy the trips away and push the guilt aside. Wanting some time away and enjoying that time doesn't make you a bad mother. We all put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect.
Sad I didn’t catch y’all whilst here!! But Congrats to Mike that’s an amazing time! And I’m not a mom yet but personally I think it’s healthy to spend a couple days away and get some time to yourselves plus her grandparents must be ecstatic to have her to themselves for a while!!
A little time away is a good thing. It helps River learn to trust other people and bond with family! Of course, the reunion later is always wonderful!
It’s important for River to bond with her grandparents so you shouldn’t feel bad. Btw, loved the part where you were relocating the bubbles to the sink.
Ever since I remember my parents let me to stay with my grandparents over the summer for 2-3 MONTHS and I loved it. Still love my parents, so don't feel bad Fleur, feel lucky you have such an amazing family instead!

Seriously.. you are ok to be without River for a few days.. I used to stay at my grandparents for a week every so often and seriously loved it! It was a change from the routine plus I had some bonding alone time without my parents being there!
I think it's really important for a child to have time with extended family, especially with grandparents. They'll cherish those moments when their older.
Dee Cee absolutely.. I have a funny memory each time of me going to bed in my grandparents bed and then waking up too & bottom with my brother - was like magic 🤣

River is lucky to be able to stay with family and you are lucky to have them to watch her. My daughter's stayed with mine and my husband family when we had to go away. They have wonderful memories of those times! Most of them have passed now and I don't regret leaving them.

I live in Chicago - thank you for featuring our city! Downtown is always pretty dead on the weekend unless there's something like the Marathon or Lollapalooza going on. Well worth taking the time to explore the neighborhoods outside of downtown - Wicker Park, Lincoln Square, Andersonville and Lakeview are some of my favorites.
You are a working Mum and should be so proud of that - River will be so proud too when she grows up. Lovely video as ever, you are oozing styling and sophistication as always, you are my fav xx

Nice to see you both in Chicago!!! Congrats to mike for running that marathon in the time he did! I’d never be able to do that. My bff volunteered to help out at the marathon. There’s no tourists in October! The time for them is June through August.
Sunday mornings in the Loop are always like that! That part of Chicago is where a lot of the big office buildings are, so it's pretty deserted on the weekends! Try walking around that same area at 8am or 5pm during the work week- you'll be surrounded by people!
This is the first year I wasn’t able to attend or volunteer! Congrats Mike, you make it look so easy! 🏃🏻♂️🏅

Leaving your baby with family for work, a break or to support family and or friends is the best blessing. Know that it does take a village (grandmas, grandpas auties & uncles). Who you are as a woman, entrepreneur, friend, daughter, wife does not end once you have a child. So don't feel guilty about having your village lend their support for you and your immediate family to take a little time to be you...you deserve it!

I spent a lot of time with my grandparents as a very small child, including with my younger brother, when my parents wanted to spend quality exciting time together as a young couple and I do not resent them at all, and neither do they regret it so don't feel sad about leaving your little one with her grandparents, you're only young once!
