Have you ever listened to the podcast What Should I Read Next? The concept is that the host invites a very diverse set of guests and they tell her three books they love, one book they don't, and what they're reading now. Then she gives them three suggestions to try next and sometimes we hear back from previous guests about what they think. Very fun and helpful. 😊❤📚
I understand what you mean about it being hard to plan when fostering. I foster too, but in the US. It's challenging anytime I feel like I'm in limbo either waiting or with the kids' case. Hang in there, you never know what will come your way!
Your videos are so real and comforting, thank you💛
It took my body about 6 months after the pill to re-regulate my mind after getting off of it. But for me it was worth dealing with a period, the pill made me feel horribly depressed and it kept getting worse the longer I was on it
I know a lady who fostered a 2 month baby long term. She worked in early childhood/crèche in the infants room. So when she went back to work she just took him with her!
I do miss the period vlogs. They actually helped me to change the way I viewed my periods because I always just saw them as this hassle, but seeing other peoples experiences, it kind of made mine feel like a mini adventure lol Like I started journalling them (I started that when I began using Magnesium to help the agonising pain..again something I learned from you) and it helped me to learn more about me and my body. I was happy for you to not be going through the pain, but a little sad to lose those vlogs. I hope that when your period does come back, it is more bearable.xx
You could always grab yourself a roll of that countertop vinyl and have a go at covering the doors/countertops!
L shaped couch… ours takes up waaay too much room. One half has a high arm like a chaise (?) but I never want to lean back on that either. Much prefer a poof/ottoman for feet.
Bryony I have an L shaped couch from South Shore! What’s cool about it is that the other two seats can also open up to make a bed, or like a really large full width long sofa if that makes sense! It’s also fairly affordable. I use it so often especially with the whole «giant couch» situation setup.
I'm never hungry when I wake up, it usually takes 2-3 hours before I get hungry. If I eat too soon after waking up I actually get nauseous. Lunch is usually my first meal of the day.
L shape sofas are great, we have one that pulls out to be a bed if needed and it's probably the best piece of furniture we bought for our flat.👍
Have one as well, IKEA,though we had to put it together, the pull out part is really great. It also easily came apart when we moved, in a smaller space, and still fits nicely.
Re L shaped sofas unless you get one that can easily change from right to left hand I have found them really restrictive and space hogging.
I would look for a large square storage pouffe that way you can use either side of sofa, use with chair, as, a extra seat, coffee table plus storage and get coloured throws to bring together colours.
Re breakfast I can not face food until 11 ish neither can my daughter we now make something like porridge or chopped fruit and yogurt night before and take with us so can eat when we need and if folk like your social worker coming round just say I need to eat once you have done it once you find folk do not mind... Many a time I have had to munch while waiting for appointment better that than feeling yuck as over hungry or throwing up as ate to early.
Jenny Colgan novels are always my go to when I need an in between book. Her books are always fun.
I have quick Carbs, Protein, and Fat for the times I am not hungry but I don't have time to eat when I am hungry.
Carbs/Fiber: Carrots, Celery, Grapes, Apple, Crackers, Crisps, etc
Protein/Fat: Portioned Out Foods to Grab quickly: 1oz cheese cut and wrapped, 2tbsp peanut butter in a container the fridge, handful of nuts, etx
I can stomach these quick things even when I am not hungry. Something to tie me over.
A recliner sofa could be an option! I've found it so comfortable, and obviously you can just pop it back in when you're not using it :)
We've got a recliner sofa, its very comfy but, its fake leather and its cream... It looks filthy now lol and its kinda broken and falling apart! But we've had it for years and years so that's why lol but it is definitely a good idea!
If you don't know what to read, ask a librarian. We go through graduate level course work specifically about reader's advisory based on an individual's particular reading tastes.
I call the pill depression pills. Super common to get low mood on the pill!!
Bryony, how about making yourself some energyballs. Thats a small thing you can eat. I really like them, but you need a good blender for it.
It might be worth, as others have said, getting a footstool to see if that helps. I have an L- shaped sofa and love it, but it is true to say they are less versatile. I’ve a coffee table in front of mine I often prop my feet on! :)
I’m not sure if you’ve tried it before but I find cbd oil helps with pain and mental health in general 💗
I don't find our lshaped sofa totally solved the issue tbh. If i did it over i would get a deep sofa and an ottoman. It's an ikea one and tbh it's just hard to get out of.
There is a great cozy mystery series called tea Shoppe mystery..laura childs..so great!
I'm in my mid 30s and remember donkey years ago telling my g.p about the achy pain midcycle who then told me it was ovulation pain and only 10% of women get it. But listening to other women today it's actually really common!
When my regular periods went of wack after a failed ivf cycle my app was trying calculat my next period and according to the date I should have been bleeding. I ovulated very late that month and counted 14 days from that day and behold! That is exactly when I bled. My cycles went back to normal after but my point is from that achy ovulation - I can count the two weeks mark until the next bleed which is pretty handy if you're having a whacky month lol
While our interior design choices are completely opposite (I have a red and black living room) I do love seeing all your choices and plans!
I'd super recommend the ikea Friheten couch - it's super cheap, L-shaped, but also has a huge section you can pull out to make the entire couch flat, like a bed 😁 sooo comfy, almost too comfy 👀 (oh it also has storage under the L bit 😊)
Love my L-shape sofa, i used to sit on the bed all the time as well but not i curl in the corner of the L, only regret is not buying a better quality as the cushion sank deeply where i sit and i'm not a heavy person, happened after a few months so now have a memory foam cushion to sit on, but when i buy again i will go middle range rather then cheaper.
I would highly recommend all of Liane Moriarty’s books. I barely read last year (even though I love reading, I just fell out the habit) and was gifted her newest book Apples Never Fall for my birthday in mid-August. It got me so back in the habit I read 9 other books since then! You mentioned you love characters and she is excellent at creating and observing really complex characters.
Thanks for the video x any chance of a video comparing the difference between working for local authorities or agency
I absolutely love my corner sofa! I always have my legs up. We got a 3 piece set with the corner sofa, pouffe and sofa for 1000 and it was the best decision we ever made!!! I hate not being able to put my feet up and with the pouffe it makes it into a bed almost and is great for a movie fest :)
your not the only i have been feel low too and these periods really bad i love watch your vlogs your the one that got me on cloth pads nearly 6 years ago periods are now short but the pain is so bad your the first person i told this lol
I have a question about fostering the UK. As a foster carer, are you supported financially during times when you don't have a placement? I have been looking into fostering recently, and from my understanding, you get an allowance depending on the placement, and they prefer people not to be working as fostering is a full time job pretty much. So yeah, just wondering what support is given during periods of no placement. Thanks for the vlog!
Hey, some local authorities and agencies do pay a small retainer fee but very few. Most only pay you an allowance when you have a child. This can be very difficult to navigate financially as you have no idea how long you have between placements. If you take a wider age range you are less likely to have breaks in between, but its still no guarantee. You'll need to be able to put some money aside whenever you are fostering to save up for the times you don't have anyone. Also bare in mind you won't get any pension contributions, holiday pay or sick pay. x
I’m also not hungry in the morning wake up at 5.45 and don’t often eat til 10.30/11. Sometimes I get hungry at about 8.30
I read "The Housemaid" by Sarah Denzil recently, really enjoyed it. I listen to a lot of non-fiction too, like auto-biographies, a lot of doctors ones, one I really loved was "The Shift" by Theresa Brown RN, its in America though, but its really good. Obviously tho depends if you like that kind of thing! Really love your videos Bryony, they're so comforting, and i love watching them when im having bad anxiety, and like at night sometimes if i cant sleep cos of anxiety and insomnia. So, thank you!!
I'm the same. I'm not a breakfast any ore before I'm not hungry at all. I usually have a mocha once a day in the morning as my "brekkie" then have something to eat at lunch.
What about a recliner? I have a 3 seater recliner and it’s so comfy and you can push the recliner bit in to save space
I prefer reading non-fiction on paper as well--I read fiction in whatever format, but lately ebooks more often. So you're not alone!
Thank you for your video. It was very soothing to me. Just what I needed.
I too suffer from the 'not hungry for at least an hour' issue, such a pain, lol! My trick is to have a single Brevita breakfast biscuit with a tea first if I need to do something, but would get hungry 'during' if I eat nothing.
So books.
I'm really into Beth O'Leary books right now. I love the way she writes. The Flatshare is a good start.
I also read Rainbow Rowell books but their age range is a bit younger than I am, so I know its not for everyone. Still really good!
I an not a morning person and I never want much to eat. Basically I eat some fruit like a banana or dates and coffee. That's it for breakfast
L shaped sofas seem like a good idea, and they are lovely, but they are awkward to get on and off. I personally would use a footstool which has all of the advantages and fewer disadvantages.
Pill definitely affected me mentally when I came off it it was like everything just lifted, now I have the implant in my arm and I need to change it soon 😬 also love my L shaped sofa corner remindes me of caravan holidays 😂
I have the implant, and I've had it for over 9 years! Last year i had it changed, I did some research about whether its harmful to me to have the implant this long, but its not! I learned some really interesting info about it so i fully understood. So yeah, this year will be my 10th year with the implant! Sounds so crazy that does haha
Eat anytime you feel hungry. It's a myth that you have to eat breakfast in the morning.
Books - try the night huntress series by Jeaniene Frost
Have you thought about painting the cupboards with cabinet paint?
I'm the same! I can't stomach food when I first wake up!
I love reading!! I read a few interesting books last year if you want to look them up: "The Secret Keeper" by Kate Morton, "Pachinko" by Min Jin Lee and a book series that I completed and I found it very exciting was "The red queen" by Victoria Aveyard.
I've just recently got an l shaped sofa and I've never sat on the sofa more! I love it
Read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It's amazing. It's a series too. 9 books out right now. There will be 10 total.
I think a L sofa would work well in that space. If you hate the kitchen cupboards have you thought about covering them in vinyl sticker? The cupboard doors look flat so would be easy to do yourself and only a few pounds a roll. Just a suggestion! Really enjoy your vlog style videos💛
My husband cannot eat first thing in the morning at all, it makes him feel nauseous! He eats fine at other times, though he did have IBS when he was younger which has calmed now he's older.
Really enjoy your channel
Have you read educated by Tara Westover? Great book !
I've gone through this since my endometriosis diagnosis and my apptiet is affected
If you're not hungry, don't eat :) that's part of intuitive eating!
I got the marina and I'm having ajustmen issues with my hormones and emotions and feeling low to but my gyno assured me I'll be fine In 6months
This is awesome! :)
The Thursday murder club by Richard Osman is good, and a tiny bit marvelous by dawn french is really good.
Ugh I’m the same way with books. What kind of genres do you enjoy?
I'm in the same moment of not being hungry now, but won't be able to eat for a few hours if I don't do it now! Going to try to force down some oatmeal!
Yes missing the period vlogs 😊☺️
L shape sofas are a pain to move around especially if you want to change your room around. That's what I find.
Love your videos Bryony! Are you still considering doing some ASMR videos? I really enjoyed the one you did in vlogmas x
I'm not hungry in the morning either.
Try the goosebumps books or the twilight series books
Outlander book series if u haven’t already read it.
Check out Lawana Blackwell, she writes Christian historical fiction and has a few series that are really good.
Haha I literally had the same thing on Sunday
Have you read any of the Merilly Watkins series by Phil Rickman?
Lots of plans. 🙂
Have u tried the lo lo estrin. Low does bc
Losing* (not being snarky; just thought you may want to change the title)
Poirot!! 😍
Maybe train yourself for a week or so and eat a breakfast when you wake up. It may become a habit that works for you!
I have to eat breakfast right away
Home bargains always seems to have maggi noodles!
Hey, it's possible that I'm well out of date with your videos but I thought you have a plant based diet?
@@CountryChloDoh grow up
@@yennefer440 Haha, don't worry about that big baby. He's just mad at me that I called him out in a different video for bashing single mothers and this lady's pregnancy 😂
#1!
