    For those wondering about this footage, if you search out information on Kanzi by name, you'll find he does do things like this regularly, also makes small tools and plays PacMan. He was brought up around humans and has a large vocabulary of pictograms that he uses to communicate. He truly is that amazing.

      Kanzi is cool. I can't stand pan troglodytes but he's a bonobo bonobos are cool as hell. He attacked Sue's boss Sue's boss was yelling at her and berating her and kanzi saw it he told one of the researchers that the researcher needed to bite Sue's boss. The researcher refused. Kanzi then told him that kanzi himself is going to bite her boss. They didn't take it seriously. At the end of the day, kanzi went into her boss's office and bit the shit out of him. Sue had gotten fired later on no one really knows why but I know that kanzi biting her boss didn't help things

      @@EarlSmith2469they handled this so poorly. I was curious about what happened to Teco (Kanzi’s son). A fourth gen bonobo raised in captivity - had a lot of potential. But the one video of him I found on RUclips was depressing. I have a suspicion that things went downhill rapidly after they fired Sue. When pushing boundaries, you really need people with a belief so strong that they seem crazy. Then 10 years later, it becomes common knowledge what they knew back then. It’s how humankind (or apekind) gets pushed forward.

She does eat the marshmallows, drinks some water out of a water bottle afterwards and then pours the rest of the water out on the fire to put it out! She also has a vocabulary of over 500 words (none of which were swear words) and picked out the foods she wanted to take on their picnic that day as well as asking for her son to join them. I could have watched it for hours. Fascinating!

      They would still be dominated by the numerous other non-human hominids who inhabited the earth, such as Neanderthals, I imagine.

    • @4675636b596f755954
      @4675636b596f755954 8 лет назад +79

      Well, technically, neanderthals *are* human. We interbred with them and carry portions of their DNA.

    • @HeadofIbis
      @HeadofIbis 8 лет назад +9

      ***** You could say they are of the same species, but a different race of humans. Actually if other hominids survived, it means higher collaboration between the different races. It could mean 2 things: 1. completely different human traits due to interbreeding; and 2. the monkeys would possibly not stand the competition and become extinct in their place.

  • @hoptoit5910
    @hoptoit5910 Месяц назад +1

    Shows just how intelligent they are. Sadly there are less that 20,000 bonobos left in the wild. For those that don’t know, the bonobos, or Pygmy chimpanzees, are the same size as chimps and actually have longer limbs but are more slender than regular chimps. Not sure where the ‘pygmy’ part fits lol. They are far more gentle than their chimpanzee cousins. They do not engage in infanticide or cannibalism, they don’t hunt monkeys, rather they play with them and groom them.
    Amazing, beautiful animals.

      @Demonic Soul well from the bones you can see where the muscles were and so on, thus, how they looked like (faces are easily reconstructed from the skulls, for example); in fact australopithecines like Lucy - our ancestors 3-4 million years ago - were just like bonobos but more adapted to walking upright than living in the trees

    Now just give them a brush, paint, and canvas, and it will paint a fireplace. Lol but really, how wonderful it would be to someday communicate through complex beyond-verbal ways to another species, it's great to see the bonobo species show its intelligence, and it's great that they are peace loving creatures unlike chimpanzees otherwise we'd be in real trouble.

  • @patrickhlavinka6364

    It would be revolutionary if the bonobo was taught how to effectively create fire. As in with a bowdrill or using stones. Then see if this knowledge would be passed on.

    • @chris200830
      @chris200830 8 лет назад +2
