When you say primates you also realize that it includes humans? That’s what primates are capable of so, not so shocking considering I’m a primate reply to an other primate on the internet built by primates.
I have a question. How come some people considered Bonobos the fourth great ape when they are basically just another type of Chimpanzee? There are also different types of Gorillas and Orangutans, but they aren't divided into completely different ape species like how Common Chimpanzees and Bononos are. Here's the two species that fall under the "Pan" genus category: Common chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) Bonobos (Pan paniscus) Here's the two species that fall under the "Gorilla" genus category: Western gorillas (Gorilla gorilla) Eastern gorillas (Gorillia beringei) Here's the three species that fall under the "Pongo" genus category: Sumatran orangutans (Pongo abelii) Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) Tapanuli orangutans (Pongo tapanuliensis) So I think it's pretty stupid when Bonobos get treated as the fourth great ape since they are Chimps.
@@searain1573 those other species could have different names as well, they just don't. Bonobos have EXTREMELY different behaviour from chimps, that's why people treat them as so divergent.
His. He is a thinking, breathing being, not an it. I'm not reprimanding you, it's just one of those things in our language. We equate objects and beings and being "it". He is so much more than an object. He understands and feels and thinks.
We do not know what he/it really understands or not. It is a Bonobo in captivity for many years and of course it has adapted many human-like behaviour, because they watch and mimic human behaviour. That is part of their skills to learn what they see. And this ape underwent a lot of training by his caretakers I would assume.
Really. He would be a real star if he was free in the jungle with his own family and not held in a cage having pictures taken and all sorts of abuse from those so called doctors. How horrific for poor kenzi.
@@harpermacenzi9483 He actually has a family; his adoptive mother Matata who was the oldest Bonobo in captivity, there was his sister Panbanisha, and his son Teco. Incredible! I smiled the whole time while watching this video. Would love to see more videos about Kanzi. He'll dazzle and intrigue the public with his intelligence the way Koko the guerilla has.
So glad to see Kanzi has lost weight. He was grossly obese for a while. Hopefully they keep his weight down. He’s too smart to be anything other than his best physical form.
It really was sad seeing how he looked before, but it wasn't surprising when we saw all the things certain caregivers were feeding him: hamburgers, M&Ms, candy, jerky, all kinds of things apes shouldn't eat
I don't know how I don't hear more about bonobos, they're so much more similar looking to humans than the other great apes. I can really see the relatedness
What a remarkable and beautiful video. Credit, of course, to Kanzi the Bonobo, but also to Joel Sartore who's taking the photographs. Joel is just as amazing how he's capturing Kanzi whose many poses can be enjoyed for generations to come. For me, it's when Joel compares this shoot to that of a human (modelling) shoot, and that, well... that brought a tear to my eye knowing how the two had connected in such a short amount of time. Thank y'all for sharing this with us 💜💜💜
