Good video and detective work! Even if someone isn't gonna do the work, they can check that beltless pulley, to see if what the shop says is really the case.

Thanks for the help it's positive the pully shouldn't give so much play

Is there away to jump the AC compressor so it stays on? Need to refill with one of those shit cans but the low pressure side has to high of pressure

Outback 13. Exactly the same problem (Symptom: no cold. low-side pressure very high. compressor pulley free spinning even when sending voltage). Fixed by changing the compressor. Note: the power supplied to the compressor is likely PWM as controlled by the car's AC controller. So if you use a multimeter to measure the voltage supplied to the compressor, it's likely to be the average voltage of the PWM signal. In my case it's ~3v. It does not necessarily mean the AC controller is bad.

The A/C in My 06 outback just failed. It has the 3.0R 6 cylinder boxer. Do you have any video to diagnose that?

I don't have a probe can you tell me an easier way,? Like turn the AC on and see if the wheel intermittently turns in and off?

The sensor you pointed to on the compressor is a rotary speed sensor for the computer

No ac in my 2016 crosstrek. Compressor made noise. Turned out it was a bad O ring. Leaked coolant Made noise when low. Replaced O ring. Now fine. O rings deteriorated. Common for. Subarus. Just one possibility also for compressor noise
