If I'm not mistaken, the only thing needed to convert one of these into a Slash, is a Slash body, front and rear bumpers, and a different clipless body mount set that matches the Slash body. Then, depending on running conditions you may want to remove the internal shock limiters and change springs/oil/piston rates. I'm tempted to buy and convert one myself honestly. Would be great fun for my backyard track.

      You have my vote.
Then you can go back and forth between the two and you get the better tires.

Great video I totally agree slash modified is a great setup. I’m a huge drag slash guy can understand why traxxas didn’t install GTR shocks on that platform

Thank you. I have not figured them out. I'm a big fan of those shocks on the Slash platform.

Great video! I wish you did more but I understand this is kinda just a side project for you. I completely agree that the Mud Boss is definitely the way to go. If I were looking for any 2WD slash, regardless of future intent, I’d get the Mud Boss and then just change what I needed from there. Tires and a body are cheaper than all the other upgrades you get with the Mud Boss as opposed to any other Slash. If I’m looking at 2wd only, then personally I still prefer stadium trucks for one simple reason, less dirt/grass/debris in the chassis then a Slash that’s got the tires covered by the body. That said the new Mud Boss no longer has the body covering the front tires, so I’m curious how much that improves on reducing debris intake in to the chassis. I stop my son every few minutes to make sure the cooling fans on my slash ultimate are still running as it was common they’d jam up with dirt, grass, and whatever else. Even went so far as to install one of those Velcro attached nylon mesh chassis guards to cut down on the amount of crap getting into the electronics. Obviously I’m a basher not a racer.

Reminds me of the Tekno SCT 410.3 before they went to the new covered center gear I got the EB body to put under the SCT body. Stones used to get un the gear mesh and chew the spur up. That is a good point of stuff getting in it especially as the front tires turn. I do not recall the fit of buggy bodies in a Slash LCG.
For bashing, you bring up a very good point.

The only one that makes financial sense is the ultimate four-wheel-drive or the 2 Wheel Dr. vxl.
you're welcome to your opinion but the mud boss is definitely one I have no interest in.
Much like the stock cars that's a vehicle you need multiple of for any fun

Since we are talking about opinions, my favorite (no longer produced), was the Slash 4x4 Platinum. It was $400 and came with the VXL, GTR shocks... just needed a Tx and Rx which I already have. I just wish the Slash 4x4 came with the Rally tires.

If traxxas would release a 2wd slash with the same parts as the mudboss it would be the best spec race class out of the box. Period.

The best slash still doesn't compare to tlr or associated products. I have a first gen sc10 amd it's better then any slash I have ever owned. I run my slash oval car with associated shocks. Way better then gtr shocks

    • @telecomandorc
      @telecomandorc  3 месяца назад

      Is that an open class?
What do you like about the AE shocks over the GTR shocks? I like the shaft length and spring options. I am thinking of my old B6 and SCT. But I am curios about your thoughts given that you run them on a Slash platform.

@telecomandorc maybe it's in my head but I feel the dampening is smoother. I had a fellow racer at my local track and he was getting it on lap times so he gave me some tips amd tricks. One if them was ae shocks I switched and it seems that the body roll isn't as twitchy. Yes I have played with weight and pistons lol. I run dirt oval but I prefer associated shocks now. Again could be all in my head 🤣

@telecomandorc it's a open class but tires are limited to de tires

@@jeffbryner5355 The AE shocks are 12mm, I think. The GTR are 13mm. But it could be in the piston of the AE or the lower construction. I never though about it, but AE uses different seals at the bottom where the shaft goes through, and the piston is that white nylon vs the black plastic the GTRs have. Or, I could be wrong. The piston hole options too for AE. I never thought this in depth into them. You might be right.

@telecomandorc yeah the older shocks are 12mm the new ones are 13mm now and they have that coating I can't spell out 🤣🤣
