My wife and I run a 100' by 65' tri-oval in California where we race no-motor rules Salvas etc. Mudboss. We just bought one of these new Traxxas versions and have also several of our racers. Thanks for the in-depth review, we're going to try them out on the track on Friday morning.
Cool Review. Thank you for posting. Traxxas rocks the Mudboss world 2 times this month. Now releasing the builders car with HD parts. The Salva's mudboss class is going to need to make a rule adjustment I suspect. This car being 90 oz. Vs the 76 oz Mudboss makes these things just about on par with each other. 4 tenths of a second slower out of the box than my race prepped Salva's car. I plan on doing some testing this week on both cars. I want to see how these tires work on the old car. I am going to tear apart the new car and prep it for racing. Put a starting set up in it and see how well I can tune it. I also want to say people are too hard on that stock traxxas servo. Mine has 5 years of hard racing on it and never had a problem with it.
I’m wanting to buy one of these and try to run both dirt oval and short course classes with it but trying to figure out what parts would be needed to put the slash body on it. Seems like a good starting point for a short course build already having the Low CG chassis and the upgraded shocks and drivetrain, instead of modifying a slash to low cg chassis.
A salvas when all done out the gate is how much to really be competitive? 400-500 this is 379 out the gate and box stock will bring more people into. I race onroad at Jackson and I'm now looking at these cars also now.
the difference in the shocks is the plastic bodies have progressive springs and the the gtr shocks have linear springs. the linear springs have a more consistent spring rate vs the coil and a half of spring rate you get from the progressive springs. integy linear spring set is a good tuning option for spring rate along with adjustable bodies
Traxxas part 3743A/G/X/T/P will fit. The bell crank spacing is the same 4x4 and 2wd. However I can’t make any promises on the drag link. Maybe reuse the plastic one? Could serve as a mechanical fuse.
I had no idea this class or type racing existed until this was released. I've never seen or heard of it on RUclips before this car. I really don't get it. I'm glad there is a group out there that's excited about it though. More new models are always a good thing, even hideous ones. Lmao!!! Just got to the "no hitting or fighting" rule. The fact that needed to be announced says a lot about the particular market for this car. Sounds like a delightfully sophisticated clientele.
There was one minor isolated incident last year. It was addressed and handled right away. In any public competition there is always that risk. It is not common for physical altercations in Mudboss’s racing since most of the men are older and more mature. I just make it clear before he season that this will not be tolerated as a reminder.
Did you buy one yet? I’m trying to figure out what’s needed to put a slash body on it so I can buy one of these and run both dirt oval and short course classes with it.
@@nickdr169 that’s what the hobby shop thinks also. Honestly I’m considering just converting it to the old adjustable height post mount style then I can just use the slash post mounts for both bodies instead and not use the clip less.
Glad you gave an honest review, lots of people love to hate traxxas!! But hreat review and i can wait to get one tomorrow....My local hobby shop wont sell them till tomorrow 6/21.
Out of curiosity Mark, could I purchase the GT dampeners and HD upgrades and throw them at existing LCG 2 wheel drive Slash and it be anywhere as good as the Mudboss? I'm hyped for whatever content you have planned for the Boss, and how it effects your race series and classes.
Hi. The quick answer is NO. There are too many changes to the car to just cherry pick from . Traxxas threw the kitchen sink at this car. There are so many upgraded parts. Each one has an effect on performance. Tires , Rims , shocks , springs , body with lower cg and better aero , 272 transmission has bigger ball bearings for diff for much less internal drag , aluminum motor plate for better cooling, hd arms are stiffer , alum clutch pads are actually usable and can be used for tuning depending on traction. Stock fiber pads on old car do not work well and needs to be locked. I hope that helps you.

Awsum, thank ya sir. We dropd three more new cars on the track at shaws lastnight, with a little toe and camber tweaks, and set three new lap records🏋♂️💥 awsum video, thnks for you time🏎
Just don't get it or see it ,as a needed thing , just a 2wd slash with a cool body , well unless you happen to have a bunch of guys that have them for a race or something
That’s what there for bunch guys together , it’s called racing 😂 , if I buy one it be more for collecting and when I think about it being waste of money 💰 I remind myself 500 would be one tire 🛞 on the full size car and it be gone in a weekend , I have slashes that over 15 years old

Is going to be is own class 🤔 this is made the right way and looks close to the real thing.

Great review! Hoping this continues to take off and more oval tracks are built...especially here in New England

I don’t see why nobody wants to just make a box stock class for them. I feel like it’s a win win.
Our area is. That's the beauty of this. You can race them box stock. We are even running them on concrete.

NEWS UPDATE can no longer call it the mudboss.
It's a slash with a dirt modified body on it.. gay..
lol. Jay easy now.
Wow... how very inaccurate. All the gay folks I know have way better taste than to be caught dead around anything this ugly.
What does the mudboss have to do with you coming out?
Jayirving6996 has so much interest in gays, he can't help but mention them in a comment about RC cars.
Lol
