The 4060 has a temperature drop of 13-15C compared to the 3060, and fps increases by 6-20%. However, most laptop CPUs are Intel's 10nm, resulting in high CPU temperatures. Even though the 4060 is over 70 degrees, the fan is still very loud because of the high temperature of the CPU. So you should choose amd cpu, only 7nm

I believe that in general, no generation of graphics cards is intended for those who already have a computer with a graphics card from the previous generation. If you have a laptop with an RTX 2070, it's not advisable to switch to one with an RTX 3070, but rather to wait for an RTX 4070, where the significant improvement in performance justifies the expense. I would even say that for the majority of people, the most advisable option in terms of cost-effectiveness is to buy a generation below the current one. For example, buying an RTX 30xx now, because the latest generation is always quite expensive and has a worse cost-effectiveness ratio. In my case, I have a computer with a GTX 1650, and switching to a laptop with an RTX 4060 would be an incredible improvement. Buying a computer with an RTX 3060 would also be a good option, but considering that the price difference is not very significant (at least where I live and shop), the 4060 promises a longer lifespan in the future. BTW, I have just bought a laptop with RTX4060, just waiting for it to be delivered...
Depends on the performance difference between 50 series and your current GPU. If it's really major, then it's best to upgrade. Keep in mind pricing as well because NVIDIA from the start of 30 series are selling their GPUs higher than they should be
This is the exact reason why i always hated and avoid recommending people to get RTX 3050 laptops and just save a little bit more to get an RTX 3060 Laptops since its actually more performance per $, the 3050 is SO BAD that it even loses to the previous RTX 2060 😂

Seems like 4050 is a good deal then. Lower watt but comparable to 3060. No need to upgrade if you already have 3060 but 4060 is a disappointment and embarassment. Unless they get 140W version and actually make huge difference than this one 105W.
Apparently 4050 60 and 70 are all limited to 105 watts even though they might be advertised as more.. notebookcheck guys have an article experiencing that...Nvidia already is denying 30 series dlss 3.0 knowing otherwise 40 series won't sell well and now they're doing this as well. I guess they'll probably remove the limit next year so that the prices don't drop and they new laptops get a performance boost. Real scummy stuff if that ends up being the case. I hppe fsr 3.0 has a decent version of frame gen.. it'll be a big blow to Nvidia.
thanks for these comparisons, a 100w 4060 costs way too much than 140w 3060 (you could even get a 140w 3070 for a cheaper price). unless frame generation is a need there is no point in going for a 4060 laptop
This is the exact reason why Nvidia will try not to release Frame generation for 30 series even when they are capable. But yeah its good to see laptops perform this well in AAA games altogether
Frame generation only looks good in the demo they show. In other games, it looks like trash in almost every other game. I disable it in every game I play.
4050 is a pretty nice card in laptops specially with its tdp to performance ratio and frame generation. I would consider this over 3060 if price is same.
4060 is a disappointment compared to how 4050 is performing. There's a lot of fps difference between 3050 and 3060 while 4050 literally gives a decent competition to 4060
The Gap between Rtx 3060 and 3050 is huge example in 0:16 the 3050 get 35+ fps while the 3060 get 70+ fps it felt like both are using different settings but no so yeah for people that own the 3050 i think it might be time to sell it and buy the 3060 or the ti
if you actually pay attention to the game your playing though, theres not really a big difference in ANY of the cards - its like arguing over liking sugar or placebo's more.
I remember the days when the new generation card was equivalent to the previous gen +1 cards (eg. 3060 = 2070 or 2070 = 1080). Now the new gen barely beats the exact one it's replacing, much less trying to compete with the one up higher previous model.
The numbers are a bit misleading. The 4060 is pushing more frames than the 3060 at a much lower wattage (4060 is 115W, 3060 is 170W). A 3060 running at 115W would perform much worse. So i guess technically the 4060 is more powerful, (or i guess much more power efficient). I doubt 115W is the best the 4060 can do, its just that Nvidia is probably limiting it to make it look worse than it actually is to make you buy a 4070.
@@ameera8423too bad it's voltaged limited to 100W. You barely see any difference above 100 so any 140W laptop are just selling smoke and mirrors. But make no mistake, the 4060 can run at a minimum ~10% better performance than the 3060 while drawing more than 30% less power, making it way cooler and pretty much impossible to thermal throttle unlike the much hotter and power consuming 3060 card. Couple that with better firmware and the much needed extra 2 GB of Vram, and it's pretty decent on its own. If you can get it for under 100$ more than the equivalent 3060 model go for it, but don't pay ANY extra, not worth the money. Just go 3070 or 4070 if you want more performance. Preferably the 4070 as the 3070 was also kinda ass for its price.
It kinda surprise me that the 4050 does have a lot better performance than the 3050 in all game unlike the 3060 and 4060 which has the exact same performance in some game
@@waseem8830 the 50 tier of GPUs were never the sweet spot anyways so this is pretty much expected. Each generation you will feel the same. It's always been the 70 or the 60ti or the 60 tier of GPU which have been the best bang for buck GPU segments

@@g00dl00kinb0i You are ignoring the fact that more than half a decade ago and by the end of these laptops product cycles in 2025. Nvidia will be selling gaming laptops for 2000 bucks that are slower than 1200 dollar laptops from 2018, despite one being 7 years later.
"Ignoring a fact" while you tell me something no one can possibly know since it's in the future, therefore how is anything you just said a fact I'm somehow ignoring ? You have ZERO idea what will the next generation of these GPUs bring in terms of performance and how the prices will look like. I've been buying gaming laptops since 2011 and GTX/RTX xx60 was always between $1000-1700 depending on the laptop brand while xx70 were about $300-500 more, nothing changed. I'm not saying the 2070 wouldn't be a deal today specially with discounts but the 4070 is better then a 2070 in every single test or measure. 2025 won't be the end of any cycle, even a 2070 will be fully capable.
No, they were not. They were at least 15-20% slower than a full power 3060, and probably 30% slower than a 4060. They were bundled with absolutely power hungry processors and the GPUs were power hungry themselves. At least until the 3000 series, gaming laptops had always been reputed to have extremely shit battery and were loud as hell. A 4050 running at 75W could definitely match a 2070 running at full power without a problem while having much better battery. Not to mention that build quality and displays have become much better in cheaper laptops. Now sure, the increase in price to performance is not great if we use inflation as a comparison but there are multiple aspects that have been improved in laptops since the late 2010s and I'd definitely not want to own a laptop from that era.

NVIDIA, giving you the same thing as 2 years ago, just at higher price... Only 4050 is clear upgrade over 3050. 4060 is meh, 4070 even bigger meh. 4080/4090 cost arm and leg. Even if the power consumption of the 30 series is higher, you are probably better buying good discounted 3060/3070 laptop like the legion, compared to cheaper brand 40 series laptop. The exception is if you want thin, low power laptop, where 4050 and 4060 will be clearly better. It was shown that the 40 series lose very little performance when lowering power consumption (because NVIDIA clearly overclocked these small chips to the absolute max...), therefore even the 75W models will still have very similar performance .

Honestly the 4060 seems to have very little worthwhile improvement over the 3060 in terms of FPS. So I don't think it's really worth it getting the 4060 over the 3060. The 4050 however based on this video and couple other test has a decent amount of improvement in terms of fps over the 3050. There are also cases where the 4050 while using less watt is able to gain the same or more performance than the 3050. Which means, it's good for laptop battery life. So I would definietly recommend getting a laptop / pc with 4050 over the 3050. However if you don't care avout frame gen and the new 40 series features, the 3060 laptops are sold at around the same or cheaper price than the 4050 so you can get that. The 4060 doesn't seem to be worth it, so better off avoiding it at all cost.

@mogatys depends on your budget really. 30 series cards are still very capable. If you get a 3070 or 3080 laptop, it will be more future proof.

I guess they'll probably remove the limit next year so that the prices don't drop and they new laptops get a performance boost. Real scummy stuff if that ends up being the case.
I hppe fsr 3.0 has a decent version of frame gen.. it'll be a big blow to Nvidia.

It is laptop 3050 bro, 3050 and 3060 desktop do not have that big difference like laptop
if you actually pay attention to the game your playing though, theres not really a big difference in ANY of the cards - its like arguing over liking sugar or placebo's more.

Hey, I have been doing some research the past few days to find my first hesitant between these 4 options.
1. MSI Thin GF63 (15"), 3050, Core i7 11th gen, 144 Hz
2. Dell Gaming G15 5515 (15") , 3050 TI, Ryzen 7 5000 series, 120 Hz
3. Acer Nitro 5 AN515 (15”), 3050, Core i5 12th gen, 144 Hz
4. Legion 5 15ach6 (15”), 3060, Ryzen 5 5000 series, 165 Hz
Or is there any better options out there with the price range around $850 - $950?
Definitely 3060 laptop anytime
GO for legion mate
Legion mate
Lol Legion far out classes every other laptops you have mentioned not just because of 3060 but for many other reasons.
4th option is better
I'm curious why nobody does comarisons of laptop and desktop GPUs?Like 4050 laptop vs 3060 desktop or so.I rly want to see how desktop 2070 comapres to mobile 3060 and 4050
Are you using frame gen?
No
Okay so the 4060 is useless for it's price. Your comparision is a bit better than the other doofus dude who compared a thermal throttle 3060 140w with a 4050, imagine using fg where the total lantrsnct remains the same. Novidio moment
NOTE:3060 140w is not thermal throttling but temp is a bit high so if you keep it cool like mine (legion 5 5800h 3060 140w vbios flashed, 71c max temp 60c avg) im sure you will get 1-3% better fps than what is represented in this video. Good job man for trying. However Jarrods Tech remains my main source of info.
In asus tuf a15 2022 rtx 3060 runs at this temperature and it is normal on this laptop
@@PCSupportGamingTest Its an nvidia thing sir, not tuf, tuf doesnt have the greatest thermal anyways
So that's why it's normal "for this laptop" as he mentioned....
@@g00dl00kinb0i then he shouldn't post this result since it's innactuare/doesn't show best performance
You're silly.
Just because the GPU is the lower TDP version doesn't mean people won't buy or aren't interested in it, in fact it usually means the laptop has lesser cooling and is probably cheaper then the one with the best cooling system, i.e more people will look at it first as not everyone is as accomplished in life as you.
Who cares what computer you *already have* ?
*When he's making these videos so that people who DON'T can make a better decision about purchasing one...* Why are you even here ? To complain and state yours gets extra 3fps, sad...he presented the laptops he had on hand.
i need an opinion between rog strix g16 rtx 4050 , msi cyborg rtx 4050 and rog zephyr g16 rtx 4060
Rog zephyrus rtx 4060 is better
I have a rtx 3050 and nvidia is selling the 4060 at $300 so is it worth upgrading?
Yes

4050 because of frame generation
when i first got this laptop, that i currently have i got told it had an RTX 4060 laptop, but around 1 week after i bought it i realised it was an rtx 4050 not 4060, and i paid 1300 dollars for this, did i get scammed?
Which laptop did you buy?

Quality on 3050 looks better... Is it intentional.? Looks like Ray Tracing is turned on 1:18
