      The sad part is when you realize this uplift was one of the _better_ ones of the generation. Look at the 3060ti>4060ti or 6800xt>7800xt. Many cards gave pathetic uplift or got price hikes that made them an even _worse_ value. Even with price drops there's nothing that stands out and even the best case scenarios can't muster up better than "well I guess it's not _that_ bad."
      AMD and Nvidia were perfectly happy for decades making 25-30% margins. Neither them or their shareholders want to go back now after enjoying the 50-60% margins of the crypto boom.

      It not shit really, i can confirm the power to performance is insane on the 40xx series cards, it all depends on what you upgrading from. In my case i had a rtx 2060 then upgraded to a rtx 4070 super. Basically was a 130% increase in performance but if you have a 30xx series card i would suggest wating for new cards to come rather. All i can say is the 4070 super is a beast and even though it was not meant for 4k gaming i can play 80% of the AAA titles on 4k med/high settings and still hit +-60fps. So for me was money well spent.

    If your budget is £300 then these are the two options you have from Nvidia, 4060 or 3060. 4060 looks okay but then you realise it has on 8GB VRAM and then you look over to the 12GB 3060 but you have to sacrifice DLSS/FG and power if you want to go with that one, for me what saved the day - the best option imo - £300 for a brand new RX 6750 XT and you get the 12GB VRAM and faster performance than both the 3060 and 4060.

    ITT people make dumb comments about GPU naming when the problem is bad price/perf and poor product placement with inadequate VRAM for the core's strength, regardless of naming.
    quibbling about the naming is a dumb waste of time and completely misses what the actual problems with this gen have been.

    Its a great video but with one sticking point when he says 40fps feels good on a VRR display but 95% of VRR panels have a VRR range of 48Hz and Up, so 40Hz isnt in the VRR range, causing the Vsync judder effect. Many youtubers seem to forget this and give bad advice on 40Hz caps.
    Other than that bit, its a great video.

    • @danielowentech
      @danielowentech  8 дней назад

      No, most vrr displays will go into low framerate compensation mode below 48hz so if it hits 40, the monitor will run at 80 and display each frame twice, staying in sync.

    • @SKHYJINX
      @SKHYJINX 8 дней назад

      @@danielowentech But most dont thats the thing, as I said, lots of panels sold out of the hundreds available still shudder under 48Hz, so many panels exist that do not have LFC, some do but its not the majority of models. LFC is a godsend feature, but the monitors people (normies) buy, most dont have it as a feature. You can literally check most models sold at any time, its pretty clear.
      People should always check when purcasing a monitor of course, as with anything, but LFC isnt as common as people would hope, and 40Hz looks bad in those circumstances. Daniel could have mentioned his 40Hz statement is because LFC and I wouldn't have even commented.

    Remember, the 3060 was released with 12GB of VRAM several months after the 3080 and 3070 were criticized for having too little VRAM. In previous generations, did a lower level Nvidia card ever have more VRAM than a higher level card in the same series? Has it ever happened since the 3060? Nvidia probably meant to release the 3060 as a 6GB card, like the 2060. If it had, this comparison would have a completely different outcome.

    I'm an architecture student and I'm also torn between the RTX 3060 12GB and the RTX 4060 8GB. I prefer the 3060 because of its VRAM, which makes it more future-proof. However, most benchmarks indicate that the 4060 is faster. I'm undecided whether to choose slightly slower rendering times but more future-proofing or faster rendering times with potential difficulties handling larger projects.

    Bro, the arguement low actually looks really good isnt a arguement for that price XD, Framegen is also made unusable on the more budget GPU super Nvidia way of doing things.. First paygating DLSS3 on RTX40 cards and letting rtx30 cards out of the picture. Now the 4060 entry lvl GPU also cant even really use the tech. Whats next? only 70,80,90 cards can really use the next DLSS(4)? Wouldnt be suprised. Also all the leaks from reliable sources say the 50 series gets the same size framebuffers so super exciting!
