The GTX 1650 used to be a decent budget laptop GPU back then and now the RTX 4050 can manage to keep it’s head (only just) above the water thanks to the 6GB VRAM. But the RTX 2050 and RTX 3050 were outdated on arrival which is a shame. 4GB VRAM was still decent in 2019 but now it’s no longer a good choice, even if you are on a tight budget.
No wonder I have to change laptop so fast. My Quadro P1000 can’t even run Davinci Resolve properly anymore because 4GB of VRAM is ain’t enough. Oh well at least I only pay $650 for RTX 3070 laptop

And for now, it does satisfy that expectation. However it's rather shameful that otherwise capable GPU will be held back due to it's 6 GB vram in this year. It's just 18-20% slower than 4060 but due to 6GB vram and it would have survived as long as 4060,but due to it's 6GB vram it will no more be able to handle games on ultra. Even 5060 desktop card will have 8GB vram. It's time to stop buying NVIDEA products till they sort their greed out
@@noa_wave Yes, what you said is actually true, but the pure performance of the graphics card without dlss and fsr is more important because although you already do this with applications such as lossless scaling, their support will be cut off when the graphics card becomes outdated.
@@emogelo actually rdr 2 have only dlss scaling, not fsr and any other's. The author of the video doesn't show this in the gpu comparison. I play in rdr 2 50 hours on rtx 2050 and i have 50-55 fps on high-ultra settings (not 40 like this video)

If anyone's looking to decide whether to get 2050, 3050 or 4050, Please please choose 4050 for budget gaming. Where I'm from, all 3 are going for the same price (600USD). With little compromise on CPU (i5 12th gen vs i7 12th gen or 13th gen) and Ram (3200mhz vs 4800mhz), you can get a way better GPU in 4050. I repeat, if your budget is tight and still wants to game, pick 4050 at all costs.

Your current specs are better. Don't go for rtx 2050 it's already struggling to run newer games on higher settings. If you have the means go for either rtx 4060 laptop at minimum or rtx 4080 laptop for futureproofing. You can also wait for rtx 50 series mobile to arrive and grab a rtx 5070 laptop with the same price range of rtx 4080 laptop.
When optimized, the 2050 is just 4% off the 3050. With the money you save by buying the 2050 you can upgrade your RAM and SSD which will increase your performance much more than buying the 3050 will

Comparatively RTX 3050 isn't doing good. Over power consumption.
