- TEAM TALK: SHARROW PROPS ON BASS BOATS??? (ULTIMATE PROP?)
We called Sharrow to discuss rumors that they had made a "Bass Boat" prop and WOW did they blow our minds! Testing isn't fully complete yet but the road map is layed out. Now, some of y'all have seen the price of these props and have about fell outta your rocker but they gave some reasoning to the price and at the end of the day we can ALMOST justify it. (have to see how it performs in person) All we can say it the Propping industry IS going to change in the future and it's all because of Sharrow. Drop a comment on y'alls thoughts on this prop!

I just installed a Sharrow on my 23’ Proline with a Yamaha F300 and the results were phenomenal, I replaced a Mercury Mirage Plus. My normal cruising speed used to be 26 knots at 4200 and 12 gph, I get to the 26 now at 3500 rpm and 10 gph. At 3000 rpm I get 23 knots 7.8 gph compared to 4000 rpm 10 gph with the old prop. The boat planes at 2800 rpm compared to 3900 with the old rig, and a lot less noisy. That is a 16% and 26% decrease in fuel consumption and significantly less impact on the motor as I am running it now anywhere from 700 to 1000 less rpms.
We need a part 2. Stop by Team Marine and lets get this done Eric! We need to see this prop in action on a Suzuki 250 SS
As soon as I get some of my cool additions I will...count on it! Have some other magic that will blow you away as well...Allows your own customizing of the prop to adjust to conditions ...lol...really trick stuff!! Never been done before!
@@ericolsonoutdoors9171 what kind of time frame you thinking so we don't bother you?
Sharrow has teamed up with Veem & will soon dominate the world with next level props no one will be able to compete with. Seriously look em up 💥
My dad runs one on his 23' Parker with a Yamaha 300, his top end stayed essentially the same but everything else was improved, and if I remember correctly, the mpg increased by like 12% which is HUGE on a boat that you run in big bays and the ocean.
I needed to see this comment. I have a Parker 2320, total dog getting up on plane when it’s loaded and run it in the mid/high rpm’s most of the time. Hoping to get a better hole shot and some better efficiency.
@@rnyhc if you're having those issues, switch to a 4 blade and make sure the pitch is right. It'll make a big difference just by doing that
At first i thought 5k was insane for a prop, but not im starting to get it. Great video Andy
I looked into these months ago. I don’t care if they’re custom to my boat, $5000 is ridiculous for a prop in my opinion. Good info on the prop that I didn’t know about though.
I'd say the value of the prop becomes much more apparent for people like fishing charters who take larger boats out farther than your average bass fishermen/weekend boater. Claimed fuel efficiency increases of 20-36% would be well worth the price at that point due to the savings in fuel cost overtime
yes these arnt for single engine boats. these are for ocean boats and charters with multi engines.
Makes sense if the fuel savings will be more than a few thousand a years
20-36%, not even close…more like 10-12% in a VERY narrow rpm band at best.
A trolling motor Sharrow prop would do it for me.
Somebody needs to 3d print one.
Fully agree with the above
What do y'all think? $5k, customer made prop, limited time free replacement, Sharrow Care insurance. Very enticing
LOL HOW MUCH DID THEY PAY YOU ....? THAT THING IS A NOVELTY LIKE A TESLA EV !!!!LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Gives me a pause for thought...not an automatic NO, would love to see comparative test results!
NOPE
For 5k hell nah
Yeah man that's just an insane price difference. I'm not saying it's not potentially a amazing prop. I like the innovation of the things happening. It's just soo high in cost. Things are just getting so high in cost people with good jobs still can't afford it. It's just fkin insane if your not making a minimum of 150k a year you can't afford a pimped out bass boat and have other nice life stuff.
Sharrow is only a few blocks from me. Showroom is in Saint Clair Shores and the machine shop is in Detroit. They are doing 60” diameter props for inboards now. Really cool company and product. I hear nothing but great things about the props and improvements on handling to fuel economy, especially in choppy Great Lakes. My opinion anything custom made will be pricey over mass produce made. So you get what you pay for.
Live in Florida, I called them, it should stop chime walk, and all the other benefits. The main one for me is, hydrilla. They said, I could start the hole shot in the mats. The grass doesn't wrap around the prop. The price is no different, then Lithium batteries in 2014. Which helped to sell my, Triton in 2016. Thank you,
Have you noticed that all bass boat accessories is the 5000$ BS price tag 😂😂 Power pole trolling motor and so on. All this stuff should come with a free BJ 😂😂😂😂 keep up the good work Andy 👍👍👍
What is 1717 stainless steel. Never seen it
Shits way to expensive! Maybe 2k and I would be interested
Would love to see some real life tests on normal boats.
Here is what caught my interest on top of performance in all areas including coming on plane faster. Quiet! The quietness for hunting and finding and catching fish.
Would love to see a video on the process of them actually building the prop.
Ask and you shall receive. HELLER Machining at Sharrow Marine ruclips.net/video/xfA-gzqhkXw/видео.html
Just curious, if the vibration is a lot lower, do you get more better motor longevity from the less vibration?
Be kinda cool if the did a trolling motor version
Thanks for the video. You answered questions for me. It's just too rich for me. All the new technology is making this sport out of reach for the hobby guys.
Thanks for doing this video, have been waiting to hear about a bass boat application and here it is. Can’t wait for actual tests on the water and the characteristics of how this prop preforms. Thank you!
I’m very interested but wondering what it will do on Toledo Bend lake Stumps?
Trolling motor, Trolling motor, Trolling motor!!! Maybe this stile prop will make those minn koata motors worth owning 😂
Love the channel and content. I have been watching this prop since it came out. It truly is groundbreaking technology and would pay for itself over time. Unfortunately for me, the up front cost is too much right now. If it were around $3k I would probably have more interest. In today’s market all the manufacturers are pricing the normal person out of the market for any new toy. I am excited to see part 2 of this video. Maybe the results will make me think $5k is a bargain!!
Man I got some of those orange squishy ear plugs, now my prop is 26 decibels quieter
I definitely want to see this thing run!
I have one on my GB2221 Riverhawk with Yamaha 225. The boat ready to fish weighs in close to 4500 lb. Plaining speed is 18mph speed and rpm are perfectly linear 2000rpm- 20mph, 3000- 30, 4000- 40, top speed about 53mph. Fuel mileage is from 3.5 to 5 mpg depending on weather at 30 to 35 mph. The prop does everything better than what I had on previously. Fuel savings will pay for it in short order.
Hopefully see part 2. Eric is a great guy!! Very knowledgeable
I wonder if they make one that will fit a smaller outboard .. like 50hp to 115hp ? ..
Imagine this business closing shop in 2 years and your prop breaks 😂
Where can I purchase the shirt from? I cannot find a link.

I believe all the performance claims are truthful, but I'd love to see a real world reaction by y'all.
Great video as usual! Too much money for my old ass boat but thanks for the info. Please do a video on the 17 foot basscat bobcat. I want a boat that fits in my garage and isn’t a piece of junk. Does the bobcat fit the bill or should I look elsewhere?
We have a older video talking about 17footers and the Basscat Margay is featured. The new Bobcat is a solid rig
We need to see it in action to believe it. Kind of curious how it would run on a fully loaded tournament rig
There are several videos of these being field tested. They do work well, but it’s not a night and day improvement worth the exorbitant price.
Like I said, wait for the Chinese to start churning these out and buy one for a realistic price.
What ya think about procraft ? I just got a 94 pro 200 with a xri 200 on it seems to be very solid for its age
i have a question for you, not a prop question im looking at a 2003 champion 203 ,only drawback is is that it has a 225 yamaha vmax hpdi and i have heard horrible things about it. it only has 180 hour, i appreciate your opinion and love the show. as far as props i have been lucky, my 95 181 with my bad ass fast strike 150 will run 66 all day long with a 14.5 x24 raker worked by cronxton
What happens if your custom prop doesn’t perform on your boat? Do they replace it till it works…
I watched all videos on this a year ago and it was def a 30% fuel savings on boats tested . On plane in record timing. Unreal but def next level
It would be lipstick on a pig, but I've got an 85 Champ 184 with a 25M but 19% prop slip (goes up with a smaller diameter prop). It would be interesting to see what improvements it would bring. I'm 10 props into trying to get the slip down... Should I try a Scorpion 23P?
How do they perform as a surfacing prop on say, my Bullet with a sport master ?
Waiting for part 2!!!
Great Video, Great Prop. But……It ALWAYS comes down to price. 5k, let’s be honest it’s crazy expensive for your average bass fisherman. If you can afford it awesome! But make it reasonable and they will sell more…….That is if they can make a legitimate profit to stay in business. Good concept thou.
Would it benefit a smaller 30 Tohatsu 4 strk my boat is 14.5 and is heavy and take a long time to get on top, tp end 23mph/5000rpm, super smooth and quite for trolling
Outstanding Video
It makes more sense to spend the money on the prop than a $5000 trolling motor
I imagine just a little bend in the shape of the prop will severely effect what it is designed to do. One year warranty is nice, but cannot imagine it holding up on a stump ridden lake like Toledo Bend? But yes,,,,seems like a heck of a prop.
look up hole shot performance props out of Texas if you want a great unique all around prop.
These props are definitely worth it. They arnt for everyone, but if you can afford it why not? It’s great to see this dude invented something so ground breaking in a area he wasn’t even really trained in. I would love to try one on my Evinrude G2!
Could you do a video for the beginning bass fisherman’s. Straight out of college kids that don’t have 15 grand to spend on a boat. Late 80s early 90s boat that make great boats. 18-20 foot boats with some work needed maybe but great starter boats for the budget limited fishermen? I’d greatly appreciate it!
Well if you could save $500/season on fuel or run less fuel/weight in a tournament could pay for itself in a few years. Not to mention it’s built like a brick $hit house and has an awesome warranty. Would love to see it perform on a smaller rig with say a 90-115hp OB.
I hated these but the replacement, warranty coverage and the fact it’s built for my boat setup is very interesting. Still that’s like a 7 thousand prop here in Canada.
What’s the weight compared to the most common props?
I picked up these guys when they were looking for investors several years ago. Sharrow are all they are supposed to be. I'm putting one on my Suzuki 250 SS once I sell my first born to afford it.
People got to remember one thing!!!!! How much do you use your boat a year, how many hours? How often in the power band to get decreased fuel gph. In Michigan I can only go out on Saturday because I work, and only for about 4 months so it’s only one day a week for 4 months. But realistically it’s maybe 8-10 times a summer. Which according to my hour meter 30-40 hours a year, and I’m not always cruising to get those gph specs. According to my math, it would on take me about 30 years to start saving fuel, and remember, only if in the power band to get the best mileage, which is MAYBE only about 25-30% of the time! And if you want the warranty at $365 a year, for ten years that’s another $3600 you shelled out. Think before you buy, how much use, will you always be in the power band to get the decrease in fuel gph, etc etc. For me it will NEVER EVER save me money!! In FACT I’d lose money!!! I, and I bet most WILL NEVER EVER COME OUT AHEAD, PERIOD!!!! I may not be an engineer, but I am a retired marine tech and I DO know props. Props were my specialty, repaired, tweaked them, everything. Just saying, write down how many hours boat used, speeds, cruising hours at peak fuel efficiency, etc etc per year, then do the comparison! Oh, but for you sir and your videos, LOVE THEM!!
Great video guy's!
The fuel savings will pay the insurance.
I was told to comment, so I comment
Make one for a trolling motor.
The prop costs more than what i paid for my 93 Four Winns lol.
If they are looking to test this on an aluminum bass boat I would be happy to swing over with my 2075 Lund Pro V Bass / 250 Pro XS. I would be really interesting in learning if this prop would help improve the wake for Slalom waterskiing!
Not for me and my Ranger but I can see it for those with the money
I'm very interested in part 2 love this content keep it up brother
Does anybody know if they make them for small Outboards like 20 hp
Part 2 would look good on a Champion!
why is shop empty? is business slow this time of year?
beginning of the boating season, everything is done from pre season, give the people time to wreck their shit 😂
We have some big boats arriving in the shop next week.
Hahaha yep
Being a machinist and know what it takes to actually make stuff. Thats not a bad price if they're doing all that to produce each individual prop.
Oh boy! Eric from Red Wing.....
as ususal another great video!
I know that it's a new tech and I think it's great but is the price really worth it Andy I love ur vids keep it up man
I mean 5000 sounds like a lot but if its basically every prop rolled into one with a warranty thats pretty hard to beat lol
This reminds me of the merc 2.5 performance parts that were going around yrs ago. Loys of talk about how good it is, but no real proof. I don’t see $5000 worth of gain. That’s 5 new props. The warranty is cool but what about down time? Still gonna have an $800 prop for back up and what kind of hub is it using? No mention of that on their website
Looked at these last year or so. If you were a great lakes guy (deep water) fisherman, deep water pleasure boater, long distance cruiser, blue water (ocean) boater / fisherman. This is a no brainer. A lower unit and props are a "tool" abuser, probably not. River guy, nope. Can't believe the navy and coast guard aren't in talks with these guys for their fleets. Heck 1% fuel would add up quick! Price seems high but these guys need to make hay while the suns shining. Knock offs and the competition will be breathing down their backs in no time. Wish them all the best. Cool tech.
It's cool but I wouldn't run it on a bass boat in the Mississippi river. . It would probably be alright on some big lakes and reservoirs
I can’t wait to order one for my 1992 evinrude 9.9 on my jon boat.
I’m probably going to gain another 1.5mph and save a few extra gallons of fuel too. I wonder if they give team marine subscribers discounts?
As a person whose last name is Sharrow, it's pronounced Sharrow like sparrow with an "h".
Open to use my hewes red fisher for a testing platform. Here in Florida 😊
lol first a 150+K iKon and now a 5K prop to stick on the back of it. Fast forward to next year Andy will be saying a 200k bass boat will be under valued. Perfect for the f.u money folks out there, and more power to them. Not for the tournament angler imo
Thought it was 105k
Thanks Andy, I asked about this prop, Several months ago. When I talked to them, chime walking, is reduced. Here in Florida with hydrilla, they told me, you can take off, in the mats, works ,no grass wrapping around prop. The warranty that you said, is reasonable considering, that I have 2 props, just case in case of a ding. The same can be said of Lithium batteries, when I purchased my first in 2014. They paid for there self, and sold my boats.
The prop doesn’t make sense for me and as much and how I use my boat but I absolutely can see the market for the prop especially with that insurance plan guys that are already spending 100k plus on a boat the extra 4K over a regular prop can easily be justified. Some guys will be saving 1k or more in fuel alone so doesn’t take long to break even.
That's what they call inflation
We definitely need real world testing first, like on the Mississippi on pool 8!
These have been field tested and they definitely do out perform everything else.
Now, there is absolutely NOTHING that justifies the absurdy insuting price tag. As someone who's had products machined, These are machined on the exact same CNC machines that cut standard Props. At $1500 they'd make a mega ton of profit on these. If people don't buy them they will have to lower the price if they want to move units.
They've got to get the price way down before I would ever consider it!
To be honest, it sounds great, but if it is hooking up like they’re saying, and the slip numbers are down like they’re saying it would be the gear case next they would have to upgrade in my opinion I know about that because I run to Sportmaster and I surface my Propeller I run either a mercury 30 ET lab or I run a 30 Yamaha drag propeller. I’d be interested in trying one only because I have a big gear case I would like to see slip numbers also sounds like they might be onto something.
That's an awful lot of talk for never having tested one of these props out. Show me real numbers on a real boat in real conditions
All the technical info you need is on their website
@@TeamMarineService has your shop installed one yet?
@@shark_bones lots of real world testing on them out there. They are the real deal!
Andy looking good
Hell yeah
As a retired CNC programmer and toolmaker the price of a prop is a steal. The efforts on these props made is 3 weeks are outstanding. To cast, mill, polish the props along with NDT (non-destructive test) and the other processes making them ready to ship. The CNC programming along would take 1000 of hours to perfect the mill phase. Consistent quality and engineering is what keeps America on top. Good video Andy as usual straight to the top.
all of that for nothing its a novelty for guys with more money than sense. my old school custom hand tuned DAH 30P SEC prop will still outperform this abortion....i can run 100 miles on 20 gal of fuel and avg 70 mph in my Allison SS 2000.WITH A 260 MERC...PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT!!!
I agree this is a great price. 3 weeks to build it on a CNC. Definitely worth the price. If you are spending 100k for a boat why would you not look into custom props.
maybe on a 22-23 ft walleye boat with a 400hp?
I still maintain that it is not worth it for bass boats for the price they are selling them for given that the majority of your significant gains are had in the midrange area. For offshore, okay, I can see why people would want to run them, but you don't get any better top end off of them and that's all that bass boat dudes want is straight up top end.
I need one for 20 hp and 60hp
my heart would sink if i flung it off and didnt have that warranty
I'd buy one for my 40hp suzuki tiller.
No thanks. I'll stick with Signature, and Mercury propellers.
I do want to see someone fix a damaged one though.
When i see all the proof from a skeeter fx 20,I would buy
I could see the use for offshore, it might pay for itself in fuel savings but not for my bass boat. Too pricey
May be the answer to the Suzuki prop debacle .. 🤷🏻♂️
Ok, so after watching this video, I can't help but think that your followers would love to see a thoughtfully selected $5k used boat (in rough shape???) with a 250hp or bigger outboard. Fix nothing on the boat (except maybe a hole in the hull with flex tape). Tune the engine so it runs decent. Get a full performance report from the current prop. Slap a sharrow $5k prop on it. Do a full performance report for all to see. Then, give the boat away to a randomly selected comment from someone in that video. After all, it would give someone a chance at bragging rights for a bad a$$ prop (and boat) they would never buy! Haha, but really, that would be cool if you pull that off, I'll be there to watch. Oh, and throw some t-shirts in the mix for a couple/few more randomly selected comments on that same video... Nice content, keep it going!
The protection plan last up to 5 years.
someone needs to tell them you can make a lot more money if you have a less of a markup and sell 10x as many
You lost me at $5000 a prop.....cannot leave that on the motor overnight 😮
Nope. At best its a novelty for people with "f.u.money". The price absolutely kills any of the b.s. "improvements" over a standard prop. Fold that prop up on a rock pile on day one of a 3 day tournament and you are still putting a standard prop back on your rig.
Imagine fishing a tournament and damaging a prop then just changing to your spare. Over 8k of prop in your boat so you can stay on the water. NO. WAY. JOSE....lol
No way!
Will let the ikon guys run these if you have a 147,000 for a boat you can afford a 5,000 for a prop
I’d love to have a nice enough boat to justify spending that kind of money on a prop . It’s gotta be better on that junk land and sea variable pitch prop that was on the market 20 years ago !
If it gives you more fuel efficiency then over time the gas savings would pay for itself in the cost of the prop.
I’m not bashing. A good 70-75 percent of fisherman can’t afford it. Now that leaves 25-30 percent of fishermen that can. If you have a power pole trolling motor you will have this prop
