Long before the current Mangalore highway was built, travellers from Bengaluru enroute to Hassan, Coastal Karnataka and beyond took the state highway that would meander through towns along the way. Kunigal was an important stop back then, and I remember pit stops for breakfast here in the nineties when quality eateries were hard to find, barring places like Hotel Parimala that first opened doors over four decades ago. Since then, a new highway has emerged that bypasses most such places. On a recent road trip to Chikmagalur though, I decided to stop at Hotel Parimala and rediscovered for myself a culinary institution that takes great pride in its age-old traditions that places great emphasis on serving quality fare to customers at prices that also seem to be an honest echo to the past.

As a visitor to Karnataka, 20 years ago, who ended up living there for 4 years, I miss the strong masculine voice of Kannadigas like this uncle. Completely different to what I am used to hearing lol. Respect!

I am actually a native of kunigal but currently residing in bangalore whenever we go there we definitely won't miss to eat breakfast in Parimala there bene masala is a must it's one of the best dosea I personally hav ever ate there idly vada is just a classic. If u ever go to mangalore make ur time to just visit kunigal and savour this timeless eatery

Hmm…nice restaurant Kripal 😊, I should visit sometime for a breakfast. . I used to go to Mangalore via Kunigal back in the day. Kunigal brings to mind the famous Kunigal stud farm , which produced some of the best Arabian horse breeds for the erstwhile Royal Mysore army and Tipu Sultan 👌🙏🏾👍

I almost felt the same excitement on my uncle's face when he introduced us to his fav kunigal stop - this hotel.. we stay in Tumkur so most frequently we are forced to cross kunigal junction.. I have been to this hotel a couple of times.. I loved masala dosa n Vada there...
I visited this hotel last week... Its nothing less than Swathi Delicacy in Bangalore Hassan highway... Prices are reasonable... Taste is pretty good.. I highly recommend this hotel...Just listen last sentence of Kripal as "Just 300 rupees "

Thanks for the review of Parimala Hotel @Kunigal, Mr. Kripal. You are, as usual, bang on target. This hotel is really good. Their masala dosa and even their meals are tasty. The food is hygienic too. I visit this place every week, when I travel to Kunigal. The recent renovation of the hotel is also well done.

I remember that prior to the construction of the existing freeway, it had been a two - way carriage way and there is this only eatery a little distance away from Kunigal where nearly all the KSRTC buses parked and it was nearly impossible to get a plate of what we ordered. Until Bellur cross, this was all the eatery. I felt that this was the one.
Most of the time, I would try to get some sleep and would be awakened by the vibration caused due to the movement over atleast ten rows of speed brakers. It was an indication that we arrived at Kunigal.
Me and my parents used to visit this hotel back in 2006 whenever we used to travel for my parents native. This video reminds me of my childhood.

I was wondering what happens to the leftover food at restaurant kitchens? Are there NGOs out there that collect leftovers and distribute to the needy? There was one such initiative in TN that would collect from wedding halls and distribute it to old age homes. Please shed some light on it. If anybody else knows please share your thoughts.
