The thing about hunger is that it increases the more regularly you eat. When you're fasting you get into a flow after some hours and the feeling of hunger is mild or goes away completely.
I just did this for a whole semester of law school and it worked really well. The biggest benefit for me was the time I saved from not having more than one meal.
Yeah I wonder if the whole "3 meals a day" is too much cooking for a modern person, thus all the fast food etc. One meal a day cooking is more reasonable. But I'd say you have to make sure you get your calories
@@d1ssolv3rJust meal prep or make larger portions. I made a bean burrito mix today and a stew a couple days ago. Only cooked twice but have meals for the entire week. I also have homemade smoothies but that takes like 5 minutes to make.
I've been doing OMAD for over two and a half months. I don't weigh myself because it triggers me to binge, but I know I've lost a lot of weight. During that time I did two two-day fasts and one three-day fast. I'm so used to it now that it is normal for me. Just now, at over two and a half months I am beginning to feel the hightened clarity and re-connection to my body. I am also doing a lot of stretching and walking since I'm still too big to do much else. I love OMAD; it's really changed my life. It's safe to do long term. This was so good! I’m on day 10 of OMAD, I’ve dropped 7.6 lbs so far and this is after quitting keto and eating carbs this entire time! 😂👏🏻 I loved watching your experience! I’m going a full 30 days at a minimum
I choose omad for the same that I could eat what I want to without starving my self and eating things that are bland and not satisfying to eat. Currently I am the 10th day of Omad so far lost 2.5kg

I actually did this without even knowing it for about a year and a 1/2 when I was working 2 jobs and yes indeed, I slimmed down to the point where I was showing all my arteries...looked like a road map. I was FOCUSEDDDD!
I was the same, (although not exactly OMAD) worked long hours in a physical job therefore didn’t really have time to eat and I ended up losing near 30lbs in the space of 5 months lol

I did this accidently, growing up athletics was 1st period so breakfast went bye bye. Then working retail and being busy made lunch bite the dust. Got to eating once, towards the end of the day, and ultimately dropped from 270 to 190 in a 3 month period. Went to see the Dr to make sure I was healthy, I was worried I was messing myself up, but got a full bill of health from him and told I was now an example for keto and intermittent fasting success. Haven't stopped since
When I was still in a calorie deficit I LOVED watching food videos😂 it actually helped me get my "fix" of food by just staring at it, imagining eating it, and especially hearing people describe it's taste & texture. I also really recommend those of you that are trying to lose weight, to watch 10,000+ calorie challenge videos! seeing how disgusting people felt from eating my favorite foods made me WANT my healthy, low calorie foods & I felt better about myself. Now that I'm eating at maintenance, food videos aren't as attractive to me. I'm moreso watching this video for the education of it.
I found that for me a 2 meal a day plan over a 6 hour window and training in a fasted state before the first meal works pretty well to find balance between getting some fasting benefits, controlling calories and not feeling weak. Occasionally doing omad because life happens and if out of home with no healthy choices just skip the 2nd meal
@@360johnn when I started fasting I also started to transition to a low carb/high (good) fat diet - not 100% keto but following the principles and make my body gain some metabolic flexibility so I would not be dependent on blood sugar for energy. I also did not start hard on 2 meals. Started with 3 over a 6 hour window but at some point with the right food choices I did not feel the need to do 3. But was also a gradual process - I think this is important. The majority of my training is HIIT or weighted workouts. In the first 2 to 3 weeks the pure cardio HIIT workouts were not easy as the body was learning were to get the energy from, however the strength workouts were ok. After a good 2 to 3 months I can actually sustain a higher peak of intensity for longer on the cardio workouts on empty stomach than I could before, and my strength also gone up ! I usually workout after fasting for 16 to 20 hours and I feel good. Personally I’m not very strict on timing, my only rule is to have the first meal after working out, and sometimes it happens in the morning, sometimes it happens late afternoon. @@geno5169 I personally don’t do smoothies, but when it comes to eating I just follow a few simples rules like, all meals are usually high in protein, and I make sure I include any kind of vegetables and good fats. Try to build my meals with single ingredient foods. Examples some chopped veggies in a pan with olive oil together with 4 or 5 eggs and some fetta cheese make up for a nice 1st meal. You can replace the eggs with meet of fish of your choice for instance… I also really enjoy bowls of natural yogurt or keffir with nuts, grounded flax seeds and berries - that makes up for a nice second or last meal - in my view even if only do these two you’ll be ok calories/nutritionwise as this is all nutrition dense foods 👍🏼 This has been working for me, and I usually eat until I’m full
Last year I lost over 100 pounds eating once a day, mostly junk food too. I’d literally eat a 14” pepperoni pizza some days. I rode a stationary bike 7 miles and walked about 5-7k steps a day. I felt so good too. Back on that again.

I used to eat one meal a day and workout too. It works like miracle. U can see the change in may b 4th or 5th ray. The bloating stops. And u feel so so energetic !!
Bein doing omad with cardio for 2 months, i lost 20 kilos, then i started bodybuilding 2 months ago with creatine and protein shakes (creatine started last week) and ive gained 5 kilos of muscle mass. All that in 4 months.
@maybenot It's best to make your own no hate I promise just I suggest using stuff your comfortable with in a protein shake if you don't have a blender you should buy some from a store
@maybenot sorry for the wait dude, i use whey protein gold vanilla ice cream, and i use protizyme choclate cake, use either one, mix em with milk and use 2 scoops after a workout, and 1 scoop on rest days, good luck king.

For Ramadan in the US I basically have to choose to either eat or sleep, what I learned from my friend who is middle eastern he told me to drink milk for the US but if you can find Doogh or another un-pasteurized yogurt drink. The fats line your stomach reducing the chance of ulcers and improving gut health for the fast
Not that this will necessarily work for anyone else, but I found the greatest benefit from doing a slightly modified version of omad . I would still have the one big meal but then I would have a protein shake or something about an hour to 2 hours later. So more like one and a half meals a day? But that prevented me from being extremely over full and also made sure I could hit all of the macros that I needed to. I lost like 25 lb in 5 months doing this and you're still doing intermittent fasting for essentially 22 or 23 hours a day. Just made it a bit more bearable in my opinion. Alternately, you could have a really light snack to tide you over for an hour or two and then have the big meal. That helped me push my food later into the day so that I would be full when I went to bed instead of binging on snack foods or junk food.
I like doing one or two meals a day, but either way, staying in a state of ketosis has been by FAR the best thing I've found for my health; I've lost 80 pounds literally without even trying. I just wanted to feel better and be healthier, i wasn't trying to lose weight, no counting calories or anything, no exercise routine, none of that. I still don't get nearly enough exercise, but this is the best shape I've been in since well over a decade ago. I actually have more abs NOW than i did when i was younger and could do 1000 sit-ups 🤣 Thank God for keto 🙏😇🙏
Strangely, O.M.A.D with my meals in the morning works really well for me while I am trying to cut for a convention. I think just getting the food thing out of the way in the morning and not spending all day anticipating what I am gonna eat for lunch/dinner is helping me to stay within my calorie goals.

i have been doing OMAD for now 23 days, and just wanna chime in. I have been absolutly loving it. You portray alot of the great things about omad, but i dont feel you get the full picture during the seven days. During the last nine days or so, the hunger during the day has almost completly dissapeared. I sometimes get hungry for half an hour or so, but it really just goes away when disstracted, and doesnt nesseceraly resourface. If anyone has any questions, id love to share my insight. @@nick8252 It matters greatly id say. You should obviously make sure to hit your macros, meaning proteins, fats and carbohydrates (emphasis on proteins and fats in my opinion). If you eat 2500 calories in junk food, then i guarentee you will get hungry within 6 hours at best. Bascially eat something that fills you up for a long time, like complex fibers and what not. For time of day, id say no sooner than like 2 pm, but its really just a matter of preference. Let me know if i need to expand on anything, and good luck, its worth it!
Insulin is only released once after your one meal compared to multiple times. Insulin is responsible for storing fat. That's why people look at glycemic index in foods. Carbs are not just carbs (fast carbs like sugar slow carbs like whole grain)
Just discovered your channel a few weeks ago, good content! I have been doing i.F on and off for awhileee now but never tried OMAD but I do recall how 16:8 used to feel how the start your OMAD week felt... can't say I would try it, still, I can put food down but jeeeez you can eat a lot of "healthy" food in one sitting, I will say the day you worked out earlier that would be what I need to do bc I can't imagine being THAT hungry before u break your fast to then try to get a good lift in! All in all, was a good video to watch!
Been doing OMAD 22/2 since March of this year, 213 to 155 pounds! You can really do OMAD wrong folks. Break your fast with protein, don't break fast with carbs, go easy. Eat whole foods, get rid of the seed oils canola safflower sunflower soybean oils, sugar and processed foods! I only use grass-fed ghee and avocado oil. If you got cravings you are probably eating junk. Dirty OMAD ain't the way to go, calories matter especially where you getting those calories from. Official calories is at 2200 max. GOD bless.
OMAD is the best thing that ever happened to me. My brain is clear my love handles went away as well As any other inflammation in my body and changed my face as well. Calmer too. Stopped taking adderall. My pp works like I’m 17 again. When I go back to eating normal is no bueno. BUT also…. I am a “chi” or energy master. And holy shit. When you don’t have food constantly in your stomach, the body burns fat as well as breathing better from the pelvic floor Much easier and also much much more chi. Intake of chi works exactly like digestion. In fact the place where chi is stored is also in the region of the stomach!!
I've tried one meal a day before. I like to learn as I go. So I'm a short guy and I noticed I can last longer without food than a bigger guy. I guess it's because my body naturaly burns lesser calories than a bigger person. But! I also noticed my life style also had something to do with it. All in all we don't need to eat as much as we do now a days.
I have one meal (not large meals) a day and during the week only on Tuesday & Thursday. Then on Monday, Wednesday & Friday I Fast. I let go a bit on the weekends. In just over 2 months I lost 30 lbs. When I reach my goal weight, I’ll have more of my favourite carbs on the weekends, but sticking to my Monday to Friday (inclusive) routine.
Yo I've never heard of this until now and honestly ive been accidentally doing this. I'm a mtb athlete and I try to fast quite a bit and I always felt bad for eating so much at the end of the day because I forget to keep track of it and I thought it was bad for me. So thank you because this has shown me that If I just watch myself what ive been doing is ok
I’ve been intermittent fasting for a few months now. Aside from the fact I lost a bunch of weight I really do think after a week you’re so used to it that your body isn’t hungry until later.
I use to do a 20-4 fasting and eating window...worked well could eat 2 meals that were not insanely big at once could actually spread it out ...lost about 30 pounds did it for awhile because of my schedule at the time
I was doing it like this 20-4 fasting with just two vegan meals a day. Then, it stopped working as well for me. In March -May I did it every day went from 155 lbs down to 147 lbs. But I wanted to burn fat which is not the same as losing weight. Fast forward to now. This past six weeks I did the 20-4 fasting with two meals again and I am always hungry and not as motivated. I weigh at 158 lbs as of last night. Thinking of trying the OMAD diet
Well done bro. Ive done a 43days waterfast with no solid foods at all, i was cooking, touching foods with no issues in my house and feesing hubby and my son. Currently on the sardine fast and will follow this by an egg fast. Going on vacation in 12 days. Ive lost 118lbs so far since having my son, and i have 7.1kg to lose, the last ones are harder to shift, started strength training, im diabetic T2 and anemic.
I`ve been intermittent fasting for several years, changing between the different types O.M.A.D.. 20/4 and even 16/8 on holidays because O.M.A.D is very anti-social . I find that soda water and black coffee are the best to kill the pangs but better than both is a short sharp exercise session, even a few push ups, burpees or whatever , things you can do wherever you are. Lately. I started to feel sluggish after a meal so I changed my fasting hours from evening to early in the day. Now I eat a huge breakfast , I`m full all day and everything I do kind of feels like a type of exercise and the bloat ends early in the day so I`m also sleeping better. I`m no where near as hungry as I used to be and I can also be a little hungry and it`s okay: I don`t have to feel full all day, I can live with a little hunger. Meal prep is important if you`re working outside of the house and upping the protein and laying off refined sugars is still important even if you`re only eating once a day. Most important of all is that it makes you feel great.
I did this during college of my first year for 7-9months. It was brutal. Keep in mind college classes plus working out. I had lost 30-35within that time frame from 195 to 160. I had 0 energy throughout the day and by the time I was able to eat; my urge to eat a lot was big. There will be days will you have energy days you won’t. But mostly energy. If you’re going to do this, I highly only recommend a short amount of time like a week to a month. 7-9months is crazy.😅
BRO I KNEW I WASNT TWEAKING ABOUT TARGET HAVING INSANE LIGHTING. One day i was gettin and trying on clothes, go to try a shirt, and i caught a glimpse of shoulder definition fir the first time ever, and since, I regularly go to target if im close to one so i can use the lighting.
I've been doing this for 2 years , try to eat 1 large meal at lunch ,and do your training approx 4 ,5 hours after lunch(when half of the digestion is done . Rest at the evening with a glass of tea . You will burn only fat during the night ,your sleep will improve and your digestion system will not be hampered at night . Best wishes
Keep the fasting up. STOP eating so close to bedtime. When you go to bed hungry your HGH goes thru the roof and your insulin drops like a rock. I feel proud seeing this.
I've been doing one meal a day routinely for the last 7 or more years (give or take the occasional party and family gathering). Personally works for me. It gives control over what i decide to put into my body given what I've done during the day. I'm not a regular weight lifter..i'm I data scientist by day and someone who enjoys physical activities (yard work, skiing, surfing, hiking, etc.) when i'm not. IMO most important part is that 1 meal covers standard nutrient intakes and you have an app to track that you make sure you're getting what is necessary. IDK how this diet would work if you wanted to gain mass.
OMAD only works if you 1) create a calorie deficit 2) do not have compulsive behaviors and develop and ED 3) are not a strength/ power athlete 4) do not want to OPTIMIZE muscle gain, but care more about losing weight.
I started doing this while in the Military, stopped a bit after I was deployed because I was drinking a lot of alcohol. Now, over the last year of working at a marina, I slowly started fasting again and now I'm sort of back on the OMAD and I don't really notice. It's 11:21am and I've had a glass of milk so far. I'll eat around 5 or 530 or so. A glass of milk for bone density, I noticed some joint pain over extended periods of exercise or lifting. just my findings though. I'm 5'11 and wiegh 215 at the moment, which is not very good since I'm not cut anymore. I also smoke a bit of weed, so that might play a factor.
I used to do this in my early 20s & people said it was unhealthy so then I switched back to eating regular meals.. Fast forward today my motivation to workout died, & I did gain weight so now I only just watched calories that I eat. Wish I can go back to omad but my only thing missing is gaining that drive to get up & workout. I don't know what happened &...I just don't seem to care as much as I did when I was younger for staying built/jacked.
No it makes sense. The bigger you are the more you lose. You probably just had a lot of excess fat that fell off due rly he changes you made. It’s when you stabilize and the water weight becomes low that it slows down
I lived this way for over twenty years and it’s no big deal. I’d just eat a big dinner every night and I was good. It wasn’t a strict diet but rather just my personal preference. I now have a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a big dinner and it’s good.
I see a lot of comments saying they did this by accident and I almost/sort of did too but it wasnt full on OMAD it was more of a snack + dinner. My freshman year at college in 2019 I had a very low budget and my daily routine consisted of coffee in the morning , maybe a snack (crackers/beef jerky) between classes, and dinner at night. In between, I was fairly active as each class was anywhere from a 10-20 minute walk in 110 degree weather (ASU) and I would usually end my day at the gym or playing basketball and lost about 20-30lbs in one semester. The crazy thing is being so broke, I mostly could afford burger king and used to use do the surveys every night to get a free whopper a couple of times a week so I wasnt even consuming quality dinners it was fries and a burger but it worked unintentionally
I did this for 40+ days and in the first 30 I lost 20lbs. I also followed weight watchers and usually ate something like salmon and broccoli sometimes with a side of avocado toast. I was full and could t eat anymore. I still continue to do OMAD and now starting alternate day fasting. Fasting is so beneficial for our bodies! I consistently lost weight daily doing this (I have 20lbs to go)
I’ve done OMAD for like 15-20 yrs and thought I was the only one on earth! I used to call it the snake diet. I worked so long and hard all day (16hr work days) then for my leisure/pleasure time, would go home and eat 3 dinners in one sitting
Very interesting. The only thing that I was thinking about was that if eating the one meal at dinner, eat it at lunch. Because if you are eating so much calories so close to bedtime you will have worse sleep. If you eat at lunch, you would have been more empty before bed and will result in lower heart rate and better sleep quality. That is one thing I do sometimes just to improve my sleep.
I know the answer cause I've been on OMAD (and strict carnivore) about a decade now. Real freedom. You have constant energy whole day, you don't seek snacks every few hours, no gasses and bloating , you look like a greek god and many, many more pros. And no, I'm not tracking callories - I eat untill I'm full. P.S.: week wasn't long enough to grasp real magic of OMAD.
I used to do something similar to this, I was always a skinny kid who skipped breakfast, school lunch, and only ate dinner and a ton of snacks at around 7-8. I never really felt hungry so I never really ate, my bodied was adapted to that. Here's what's interesting though, mid 2022-now(2023) comes around and I start to change my diet. At first it was a painful time with eating a healthy breakfast and being full the whole to having to, lets just say, empty the bowels multiple times a day which was icmpltely odd as usually I'd only do my business once a week. Skip to today and my body can't handle not eating in the morning. Interesting stuff right?
Dropper from 220lbs down to 180 following OMAD. I try to max out nutritionally with my meal. Usually it consists of about 6 eggs soft poached, 3 oysters, 3 clams, a steak(medium rare), 1 cup of wild salmon roe(cost prohibitive for some), lastly some kind of organ meat(heart, liver, or kidney.
Doing omad is great for body transformation..but only possible with one GIANT meal with an entire day's of calories in one meal....great job pigmie keep it up
The flow state you get into after around 16 hours is unmatched. It feels almost like you are heavily caffeinated. It is also just so easy to follow as planning three meals a day would stress me out lol

one of the first changes I experienced starting my OMAD lifestyle was the ability to smell see and taste flavours and food colours that I never seen or tasted or smelt before. very interesting how our brains are hardwired to notice food when we are hungry!

I did OMAD for a couple years of my life. It's only when I found out soup kitchens exist that I changed my eating habits to eating multiple times a day.

Im a tree climber and logger. I once accidentally climbed before eating, I was simply so focused on work, I literally forgot to eat. When I got to the top of the tree and went to work, I was absolutely shocked how focused I was. Absolutely insane. I can highly recommend this.
I been doing the omad for almost 1.5 years, only breaking omad on weekends, eating 3 or 2 smaller meals trough the day, combined with my job which involves a lot of walking and lifting stuff on ocasion, i lost 35 kgs in that year and a half. Considering in the beginning i felt like crap but now feel good. And actually sometimes not hungry even when coming home from working 8-10 hours.
the best thing i ever discovered for myself regarding diet is a calorie dense filling but not overfilling breakfast (like some honey stuffed oatmeal bars,fruits cheese bread, than fast troughout the day and then have a regular main meal in the evening. it totally fires up your metabolism with the energy rich breakfast, troughout the day. you really get hungry but you dont experience the after lunch energy low. and in the evening you end the day with something satesfying.
I didn't know this was a "diet" or whatever.... but this has been my way of life for the past 30-40 years, I adhere to it about 95-99% of the time, not forced but if i go out I NORMALLY eat at a buffet, if I eat at home I cook enough food for a full ONE plate, normally at around 10 pm and that's it, sometimes (not often) I eat like two or three eggs about half hour before going to the gym, and my whey protein in water during gym, followed by a huge meal right after the gym, so all together I got about three hours I ingest that one meal. I get up and drink 3 big cups of coffee for the first five six hours, in a big thermos... my weight has been stable for decades at 95-104 kilos.
I do OMAD and I don't eat remotely close to this much. Most of my meals consist of a lean protein and veggies. I don't get why people think OMAD is a substitute for bad eating habits. The point of OMAD is to eat fewer calories in a single sitting and eating healthy. As you pointed out after the first few days the hunger decreases. But OMAD without changing what you eat is vastly less effective.
I did this and it becomes HARD to adjust back to eating normal portions since your hunger ques are set to 1 time of eating a big ass meal. No matter on bulking, maintaining, or cutting you'll be thinking of your next meal all day thinking about tomorrow's meal hungry.
@@gianni3774 just count my calories and use a foodscale and cronometer app. I make sure im either at maintenance calories or a slight deficit depending on my goals.
if you have trouble with sleep you should try fermented foods, cuz it seems like you have a pretty health diet and lifestyle. Probiotics, potentially from naturally sources should help you on the long run.
I am on day 3 today. Having a little headache on my off day. I don’t exercise cause as a nurse I am on my feet all day. I am about to sleep cause my eating window is at 8:30 tonight. I can’t eat all these calories. I bought myself some red snappier fish with okra, Brussels sprouts my hubby will cook will roast my beet. I am doing 30 days.
When I want to cut I do two things : 1) Don't eat once per week. It creates a weekly deficit in one shot and allows maintenance/small surplus the other six days. My day of choice is Sunday. 2) Increase step count. I walk every morning just to be active. But a few days per week I'll add on an extra hour in the afternoon. **This process lets me lose 1.5-2lbs per week pretty effortlessly and since I never feel deprived six days per week, my hunger cues are stable. I do regular IF the other six days with 2-3 meals in a 6hr window. 👍

@Maalik Fazal - Realistically, it'll take two years TBH. But I'd do this : 1) Spend 6 months walking every single day to build a habit of being generally active. Have getting daily steps be your main focus. 2) Work on keeping it to 2 meals in a 4-6hr eating window and get used to taking in more protein. Once you spend 6 months building those two habits, then I'd slowly start working in 2-3 full body lifting workouts per week. Also if you have no real experience with lifting or calisthenics, I'd get a reputable coach that could help with form. 👍
@Maalik Fazal - No worries. 👍 The thing most people do is trying too much change all at once. So, if you get used to walking/fasting first, it's already a daily lifestyle. Then, it's easier to add in lifting afterward.
OMAD is easier if you transition from TWO MEALS A DAY or a 16:8 Diet. I'm currently doing OMAD right now and I can say it's not that hard if you've been doing Two Meals A Day. I eat one big healthy meal at 3pm every day.

did it for 3 years in med school , but had to stop and start increasing meals due to joining a gym

I made a bean burrito mix today and a stew a couple days ago. Only cooked twice but have meals for the entire week.
I also have homemade smoothies but that takes like 5 minutes to make.
And saving money!
I've been doing OMAD for over two and a half months. I don't weigh myself because it triggers me to binge, but I know I've lost a lot of weight. During that time I did two two-day fasts and one three-day fast. I'm so used to it now that it is normal for me. Just now, at over two and a half months I am beginning to feel the hightened clarity and re-connection to my body. I am also doing a lot of stretching and walking since I'm still too big to do much else. I love OMAD; it's really changed my life. It's safe to do long term. I admire how you experiment with your body and go full bore into whatever you do. Peace to you and yours. Thank you.

I choose omad for the same that I could eat what I want to without starving my self and eating things that are bland and not satisfying to eat. Currently I am the 10th day of Omad so far lost 2.5kg

I actually did this without even knowing it for about a year and a 1/2 when I was working 2 jobs and yes indeed, I slimmed down to the point where I was showing all my arteries...looked like a road map. I was FOCUSEDDDD!

I did this accidently, growing up athletics was 1st period so breakfast went bye bye. Then working retail and being busy made lunch bite the dust. Got to eating once, towards the end of the day, and ultimately dropped from 270 to 190 in a 3 month period. Went to see the Dr to make sure I was healthy, I was worried I was messing myself up, but got a full bill of health from him and told I was now an example for keto and intermittent fasting success. Haven't stopped since

When I was still in a calorie deficit I LOVED watching food videos😂 it actually helped me get my "fix" of food by just staring at it, imagining eating it, and especially hearing people describe it's taste & texture. I also really recommend those of you that are trying to lose weight, to watch 10,000+ calorie challenge videos! seeing how disgusting people felt from eating my favorite foods made me WANT my healthy, low calorie foods & I felt better about myself.
Now that I'm eating at maintenance, food videos aren't as attractive to me. I'm moreso watching this video for the education of it.

I found that for me a 2 meal a day plan over a 6 hour window and training in a fasted state before the first meal works pretty well to find balance between getting some fasting benefits, controlling calories and not feeling weak. Occasionally doing omad because life happens and if out of home with no healthy choices just skip the 2nd meal

@@360johnn when I started fasting I also started to transition to a low carb/high (good) fat diet - not 100% keto but following the principles and make my body gain some metabolic flexibility so I would not be dependent on blood sugar for energy.
I also did not start hard on 2 meals. Started with 3 over a 6 hour window but at some point with the right food choices I did not feel the need to do 3. But was also a gradual process - I think this is important.
The majority of my training is HIIT or weighted workouts. In the first 2 to 3 weeks the pure cardio HIIT workouts were not easy as the body was learning were to get the energy from, however the strength workouts were ok. After a good 2 to 3 months I can actually sustain a higher peak of intensity for longer on the cardio workouts on empty stomach than I could before, and my strength also gone up ! I usually workout after fasting for 16 to 20 hours and I feel good.
Personally I’m not very strict on timing, my only rule is to have the first meal after working out, and sometimes it happens in the morning, sometimes it happens late afternoon. Been working for me 👍🏼

@@geno5169 I personally don’t do smoothies, but when it comes to eating I just follow a few simples rules like, all meals are usually high in protein, and I make sure I include any kind of vegetables and good fats.
Try to build my meals with single ingredient foods.
Examples some chopped veggies in a pan with olive oil together with 4 or 5 eggs and some fetta cheese make up for a nice 1st meal. You can replace the eggs with meet of fish of your choice for instance…
I also really enjoy bowls of natural yogurt or keffir with nuts, grounded flax seeds and berries - that makes up for a nice second or last meal - in my view even if only do these two you’ll be ok calories/nutritionwise as this is all nutrition dense foods 👍🏼

Last year I lost over 100 pounds eating once a day, mostly junk food too. I’d literally eat a 14” pepperoni pizza some days. I rode a stationary bike 7 miles and walked about 5-7k steps a day. I felt so good too. Back on that again.

I used to eat one meal a day and workout too. It works like miracle. U can see the change in may b 4th or 5th ray. The bloating stops. And u feel so so energetic !!
Bein doing omad with cardio for 2 months, i lost 20 kilos, then i started bodybuilding 2 months ago with creatine and protein shakes (creatine started last week) and ive gained 5 kilos of muscle mass. All that in 4 months.
@maybenot It's best to make your own no hate I promise just I suggest using stuff your comfortable with in a protein shake if you don't have a blender you should buy some from a store
@maybenot The highest quality protein you can get is whey protein isolate. I personally use Promix. It's SUPER clean.

For Ramadan in the US I basically have to choose to either eat or sleep, what I learned from my friend who is middle eastern he told me to drink milk for the US but if you can find Doogh or another un-pasteurized yogurt drink. The fats line your stomach reducing the chance of ulcers and improving gut health for the fast

Not that this will necessarily work for anyone else, but I found the greatest benefit from doing a slightly modified version of omad . I would still have the one big meal but then I would have a protein shake or something about an hour to 2 hours later. So more like one and a half meals a day? But that prevented me from being extremely over full and also made sure I could hit all of the macros that I needed to. I lost like 25 lb in 5 months doing this and you're still doing intermittent fasting for essentially 22 or 23 hours a day. Just made it a bit more bearable in my opinion.
Alternately, you could have a really light snack to tide you over for an hour or two and then have the big meal. That helped me push my food later into the day so that I would be full when I went to bed instead of binging on snack foods or junk food.
I like doing one or two meals a day, but either way, staying in a state of ketosis has been by FAR the best thing I've found for my health; I've lost 80 pounds literally without even trying.
I just wanted to feel better and be healthier, i wasn't trying to lose weight, no counting calories or anything, no exercise routine, none of that.
I still don't get nearly enough exercise, but this is the best shape I've been in since well over a decade ago.
I actually have more abs NOW than i did when i was younger and could do 1000 sit-ups 🤣

Strangely, O.M.A.D with my meals in the morning works really well for me while I am trying to cut for a convention. I think just getting the food thing out of the way in the morning and not spending all day anticipating what I am gonna eat for lunch/dinner is helping me to stay within my calorie goals.

i have been doing OMAD for now 23 days, and just wanna chime in. I have been absolutly loving it. You portray alot of the great things about omad, but i dont feel you get the full picture during the seven days. During the last nine days or so, the hunger during the day has almost completly dissapeared. I sometimes get hungry for half an hour or so, but it really just goes away when disstracted, and doesnt nesseceraly resourface. If anyone has any questions, id love to share my insight. @@nick8252 It matters greatly id say. You should obviously make sure to hit your macros, meaning proteins, fats and carbohydrates (emphasis on proteins and fats in my opinion). If you eat 2500 calories in junk food, then i guarentee you will get hungry within 6 hours at best. Bascially eat something that fills you up for a long time, like complex fibers and what not. For time of day, id say no sooner than like 2 pm, but its really just a matter of preference. Let me know if i need to expand on anything, and good luck, its worth it!

Insulin is only released once after your one meal compared to multiple times. Insulin is responsible for storing fat.
That's why people look at glycemic index in foods. Carbs are not just carbs (fast carbs like sugar slow carbs like whole grain)

I have been doing i.F on and off for awhileee now but never tried OMAD but I do recall how 16:8 used to feel how the start your OMAD week felt... can't say I would try it, still, I can put food down but jeeeez you can eat a lot of "healthy" food in one sitting, I will say the day you worked out earlier that would be what I need to do bc I can't imagine being THAT hungry before u break your fast to then try to get a good lift in! All in all, was a good video to watch!
Been doing OMAD 22/2 since March of this year, 213 to 155 pounds! You can really do OMAD wrong folks. Break your fast with protein, don't break fast with carbs, go easy. Eat whole foods, get rid of the seed oils canola safflower sunflower soybean oils, sugar and processed foods! I only use grass-fed ghee and avocado oil. If you got cravings you are probably eating junk. Dirty OMAD ain't the way to go, calories matter especially where you getting those calories from. Official calories is at 2200 max. GOD bless.

BUT also…. I am a “chi” or energy master. And holy shit. When you don’t have food constantly in your stomach, the body burns fat as well as breathing better from the pelvic floor
Much easier and also much much more chi. Intake of chi works exactly like digestion. In fact the place where chi is stored is also in the region of the stomach!!
I've tried one meal a day before. I like to learn as I go.
So I'm a short guy and I noticed I can last longer without food than a bigger guy. I guess it's because my body naturaly burns lesser calories than a bigger person.
But! I also noticed my life style also had something to do with it.
All in all we don't need to eat as much as we do now a days.

I have one meal (not large meals) a day and during the week only on Tuesday & Thursday. Then on Monday, Wednesday & Friday I Fast. I let go a bit on the weekends. In just over 2 months I lost 30 lbs. When I reach my goal weight, I’ll have more of my favourite carbs on the weekends, but sticking to my Monday to Friday (inclusive) routine.

I'm a mtb athlete and I try to fast quite a bit and I always felt bad for eating so much at the end of the day because I forget to keep track of it and I thought it was bad for me. I’ve been intermittent fasting for a few months now. Aside from the fact I lost a bunch of weight I really do think after a week you’re so used to it that your body isn’t hungry until later.
I use to do a 20-4 fasting and eating window...worked well could eat 2 meals that were not insanely big at once could actually spread it out ...lost about 30 pounds did it for awhile because of my schedule at the time
I was doing it like this 20-4 fasting with just two vegan meals a day. Then, it stopped working as well for me. In March -May I did it every day went from 155 lbs down to 147 lbs. But I wanted to burn fat which is not the same as losing weight. Fast forward to now. This past six weeks I did the 20-4 fasting with two meals again and I am always hungry and not as motivated. I weigh at 158 lbs as of last night. Thinking of trying the OMAD diet

I've been doing 18:6 fasting, with an eating window between 2p-8p, and I feel less hungry than I did when I was snacking all the time.

Well done bro. Ive done a 43days waterfast with no solid foods at all, i was cooking, touching foods with no issues in my house and feesing hubby and my son. Currently on the sardine fast and will follow this by an egg fast. Going on vacation in 12 days. Ive lost 118lbs so far since having my son, and i have 7.1kg to lose, the last ones are harder to shift, started strength training, im diabetic T2 and anemic.
I`ve been intermittent fasting for several years, changing between the different types O.M.A.D.. 20/4 and even 16/8 on holidays because O.M.A.D is very anti-social . I find that soda water and black coffee are the best to kill the pangs but better than both is a short sharp exercise session, even a few push ups, burpees or whatever , things you can do wherever you are. Lately. I started to feel sluggish after a meal so I changed my fasting hours from evening to early in the day. Now I eat a huge breakfast , I`m full all day and everything I do kind of feels like a type of exercise and the bloat ends early in the day so I`m also sleeping better. I`m no where near as hungry as I used to be and I can also be a little hungry and it`s okay: I don`t have to feel full all day, I can live with a little hunger. Meal prep is important if you`re working outside of the house and upping the protein and laying off refined sugars is still important even if you`re only eating once a day. Most important of all is that it makes you feel great.

I did this during college of my first year for 7-9months. It was brutal. Keep in mind college classes plus working out. I had lost 30-35within that time frame from 195 to 160. I had 0 energy throughout the day and by the time I was able to eat; my urge to eat a lot was big. There will be days will you have energy days you won’t. But mostly energy. If you’re going to do this, I highly only recommend a short amount of time like a week to a month. 7-9months is crazy.😅
BRO I KNEW I WASNT TWEAKING ABOUT TARGET HAVING INSANE LIGHTING. One day i was gettin and trying on clothes, go to try a shirt, and i caught a glimpse of shoulder definition fir the first time ever, and since, I regularly go to target if im close to one so i can use the lighting.
I've been doing this for 2 years , try to eat 1 large meal at lunch ,and do your training approx 4 ,5 hours after lunch(when half of the digestion is done . Rest at the evening with a glass of tea . You will burn only fat during the night ,your sleep will improve and your digestion system will not be hampered at night . Best wishes

Keep the fasting up. STOP eating so close to bedtime. When you go to bed hungry your HGH goes thru the roof and your insulin drops like a rock. I feel proud seeing this.
I've been doing one meal a day routinely for the last 7 or more years (give or take the occasional party and family gathering). Personally works for me. It gives control over what i decide to put into my body given what I've done during the day. I'm not a regular weight lifter..i'm I data scientist by day and someone who enjoys physical activities (yard work, skiing, surfing, hiking, etc.) when i'm not. IMO most important part is that 1 meal covers standard nutrient intakes and you have an app to track that you make sure you're getting what is necessary. IDK how this diet would work if you wanted to gain mass.

OMAD only works if you 1) create a calorie deficit 2) do not have compulsive behaviors and develop and ED 3) are not a strength/ power athlete 4) do not want to OPTIMIZE muscle gain, but care more about losing weight.

I started doing this while in the Military, stopped a bit after I was deployed because I was drinking a lot of alcohol. Now, over the last year of working at a marina, I slowly started fasting again and now I'm sort of back on the OMAD and I don't really notice. It's 11:21am and I've had a glass of milk so far. I'll eat around 5 or 530 or so. A glass of milk for bone density, I noticed some joint pain over extended periods of exercise or lifting. just my findings though. I'm 5'11 and wiegh 215 at the moment, which is not very good since I'm not cut anymore. I also smoke a bit of weed, so that might play a factor.
The longer you do it the less food you need. Food selection becomes more important
I used to do this in my early 20s & people said it was unhealthy so then I switched back to eating regular meals.. Fast forward today my motivation to workout died, & I did gain weight so now I only just watched calories that I eat. Wish I can go back to omad but my only thing missing is gaining that drive to get up & workout. I don't know what happened &...I just don't seem to care as much as I did when I was younger for staying built/jacked.

No it makes sense. The bigger you are the more you lose. You probably just had a lot of excess fat that fell off due rly he changes you made. It’s when you stabilize and the water weight becomes low that it slows down

I lived this way for over twenty years and it’s no big deal. I’d just eat a big dinner every night and I was good. It wasn’t a strict diet but rather just my personal preference. I now have a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a big dinner and it’s good.
I see a lot of comments saying they did this by accident and I almost/sort of did too but it wasnt full on OMAD it was more of a snack + dinner. My freshman year at college in 2019 I had a very low budget and my daily routine consisted of coffee in the morning , maybe a snack (crackers/beef jerky) between classes, and dinner at night. In between, I was fairly active as each class was anywhere from a 10-20 minute walk in 110 degree weather (ASU) and I would usually end my day at the gym or playing basketball and lost about 20-30lbs in one semester. The crazy thing is being so broke, I mostly could afford burger king and used to use do the surveys every night to get a free whopper a couple of times a week so I wasnt even consuming quality dinners it was fries and a burger but it worked unintentionally

I did this for 40+ days and in the first 30 I lost 20lbs. I also followed weight watchers and usually ate something like salmon and broccoli sometimes with a side of avocado toast. I was full and could t eat anymore. I still continue to do OMAD and now starting alternate day fasting. Fasting is so beneficial for our bodies! I consistently lost weight daily doing this (I have 20lbs to go)

I’ve done OMAD for like 15-20 yrs and thought I was the only one on earth! I used to call it the snake diet. I worked so long and hard all day (16hr work days) then for my leisure/pleasure time, would go home and eat 3 dinners in one sitting

Very interesting. The only thing that I was thinking about was that if eating the one meal at dinner, eat it at lunch. Because if you are eating so much calories so close to bedtime you will have worse sleep. If you eat at lunch, you would have been more empty before bed and will result in lower heart rate and better sleep quality.
That is one thing I do sometimes just to improve my sleep.
I know the answer cause I've been on OMAD (and strict carnivore) about a decade now. Real freedom. You have constant energy whole day, you don't seek snacks every few hours, no gasses and bloating , you look like a greek god and many, many more pros. And no, I'm not tracking callories - I eat untill I'm full. P.S.: week wasn't long enough to grasp real magic of OMAD.
Omad does allow for some plant food over other eating windows. The 23 hour fast will burn everything up.

I used to do something similar to this, I was always a skinny kid who skipped breakfast, school lunch, and only ate dinner and a ton of snacks at around 7-8. I never really felt hungry so I never really ate, my bodied was adapted to that. Here's what's interesting though, mid 2022-now(2023) comes around and I start to change my diet. At first it was a painful time with eating a healthy breakfast and being full the whole to having to, lets just say, empty the bowels multiple times a day which was icmpltely odd as usually I'd only do my business once a week. Skip to today and my body can't handle not eating in the morning. Interesting stuff right?
Dropper from 220lbs down to 180 following OMAD. I try to max out nutritionally with my meal. Usually it consists of about 6 eggs soft poached, 3 oysters, 3 clams, a steak(medium rare), 1 cup of wild salmon roe(cost prohibitive for some), lastly some kind of organ meat(heart, liver, or kidney.
I surprisingly found this more entertaining then I thought I would 😅

The flow state you get into after around 16 hours is unmatched. It feels almost like you are heavily caffeinated. It is also just so easy to follow as planning three meals a day would stress me out lol

one of the first changes I experienced starting my OMAD lifestyle was the ability to smell see and taste flavours and food colours that I never seen or tasted or smelt before. very interesting how our brains are hardwired to notice food when we are hungry!

I did OMAD for a couple years of my life. It's only when I found out soup kitchens exist that I changed my eating habits to eating multiple times a day.

Im a tree climber and logger. I once accidentally climbed before eating, I was simply so focused on work, I literally forgot to eat. When I got to the top of the tree and went to work, I was absolutely shocked how focused I was. Absolutely insane. I can highly recommend this.
He did actually start to look really lean towards the end, but didn’t loose muscle
I been doing the omad for almost 1.5 years, only breaking omad on weekends, eating 3 or 2 smaller meals trough the day, combined with my job which involves a lot of walking and lifting stuff on ocasion, i lost 35 kgs in that year and a half. Considering in the beginning i felt like crap but now feel good. And actually sometimes not hungry even when coming home from working 8-10 hours.
I started 3days ago I love it the first day was kind of hard the other days been easy
the best thing i ever discovered for myself regarding diet is a calorie dense filling but not overfilling breakfast (like some honey stuffed oatmeal bars,fruits cheese bread, than fast troughout the day and then have a regular main meal in the evening.
it totally fires up your metabolism with the energy rich breakfast, troughout the day. you really get hungry but you dont experience the after lunch energy low. and in the evening you end the day with something satesfying.
OMAD is difficult when carb loading. Carbs induce grehlin and block leptin. Harder to get into ketosis because you are running on glycogen stores
I've been doing 20: 4 casting omad for 35 days and lost 32 lbs so far. I'm keeping going till January and aiming for a target of 42lbs
I lost 30 lbs in 2 1/2 months doing omad.. And haven’t worked out.. It really works
I didn't know this was a "diet" or whatever.... but this has been my way of life for the past 30-40 years, I adhere to it about 95-99% of the time, not forced but if i go out I NORMALLY eat at a buffet, if I eat at home I cook enough food for a full ONE plate, normally at around 10 pm and that's it, sometimes (not often) I eat like two or three eggs about half hour before going to the gym, and my whey protein in water during gym, followed by a huge meal right after the gym, so all together I got about three hours I ingest that one meal.
I get up and drink 3 big cups of coffee for the first five six hours, in a big thermos... my weight has been stable for decades at 95-104 kilos.
I'm actually impressed with how much food you put away lol,I'm trying to make omad a lifestyle...it's a struggle but does get easier.
I do OMAD and I don't eat remotely close to this much. Most of my meals consist of a lean protein and veggies.
I don't get why people think OMAD is a substitute for bad eating habits.
The point of OMAD is to eat fewer calories in a single sitting and eating healthy.
As you pointed out after the first few days the hunger decreases. But OMAD without changing what you eat is vastly less effective.
I did this and it becomes HARD to adjust back to eating normal portions since your hunger ques are set to 1 time of eating a big ass meal.
No matter on bulking, maintaining, or cutting you'll be thinking of your next meal all day thinking about tomorrow's meal hungry.

@@gianni3774 just count my calories and use a foodscale and cronometer app. I make sure im either at maintenance calories or a slight deficit depending on my goals.
if you have trouble with sleep you should try fermented foods, cuz it seems like you have a pretty health diet and lifestyle. Probiotics, potentially from naturally sources should help you on the long run.

I am on day 3 today. Having a little headache on my off day. I don’t exercise cause as a nurse I am on my feet all day. I am about to sleep cause my eating window is at 8:30 tonight. I can’t eat all these calories. I bought myself some red snappier fish with okra, Brussels sprouts my hubby will cook will roast my beet. I am doing 30 days.
When I want to cut I do two things :
1) Don't eat once per week. It creates a weekly deficit in one shot and allows maintenance/small surplus the other six days. My day of choice is Sunday.
2) Increase step count. I walk every morning just to be active. But a few days per week I'll add on an extra hour in the afternoon.
**This process lets me lose 1.5-2lbs per week pretty effortlessly and since I never feel deprived six days per week, my hunger cues are stable. I do regular IF the other six days with 2-3 meals in a 6hr window. 👍

You wake up as a novice… unable to do a single pushup/pull-up. You are 30% bf. You want to be 15% bf in 6 months. How would you structure your weights, walking, calories and fasting? Thanks 🙏🏽
@Maalik Fazal - Realistically, it'll take two years TBH. But I'd do this :
1) Spend 6 months walking every single day to build a habit of being generally active. Have getting daily steps be your main focus.
2) Work on keeping it to 2 meals in a 4-6hr eating window and get used to taking in more protein.
Once you spend 6 months building those two habits, then I'd slowly start working in 2-3 full body lifting workouts per week. Also if you have no real experience with lifting or calisthenics, I'd get a reputable coach that could help with form. 👍

The thing most people do is trying too much change all at once. So, if you get used to walking/fasting first, it's already a daily lifestyle. Then, it's easier to add in lifting afterward.
OMAD is easier if you transition from TWO MEALS A DAY or a 16:8 Diet. I'm currently doing OMAD right now and I can say it's not that hard if you've been doing Two Meals A Day. I eat one big healthy meal at 3pm every day.
It's so easy for me. I've done it all
