I've worked with many cats and have never seen this level of "shut down" before. Usually there's some hissing and growling involved if they don't want to associate with you. This cat must have been so very depressed... I'm glad this lovely woman spent her time with Jovi.

@@rrrrcccc7155 I think sometimes it's traumatic just being in a shelter for some animals. This broke my heart as Jovi's behaviour reminded me of my Katy. My friend had been approached by Katy several times in his front garden. She had obviously been abandoned during a snowy period, as well as abused. I agreed to take her in as I was already offering end of life care to several animals, and, to be honest I felt that she would probably only last hours. I had to give her a shower, she was so dirty that the first water flowing off her was black. She obviously loved being warm, and after drying she took herself to my bed, curled on a blanket close to the radiator and slept for the next 48 hours. She didn't even wake when I went to bed. To my surprise she got stronger, but she too hid her face just like Jovi. When I took her to the vet, there was evidence that she had been kicked repeatedly, including her head. The vet was, unfortunately, correct that she had brain damage, and she suffered major mood swings, during one of which I was so badly bitten I needed hospital treatment. I've had her 3 years now. She is gorgeous, sometimes loving, often moody, but then she is a cat after all. She is in charge of the house, and, no matter how much he tries, my Toby is still totally controlled by her, just as I am.

@@ajrwilde14 that would be ideal but not realistic. Cats or dogs are fostered because they have suffered trauma and need a special kind of owner to get them to trust human again. It’s a huge task that not any owner is capable of. And you run the risk of the new owner not knowing what to do and “return” the pet. Your Do Not know if he was abused!!
Edit: Justice JoyceTV ... All I was trying to say was that you don't know if he was completely shut down from being at the shelter. He may have been on the streets for a bit & people were not very kind to him & then he went the shelter. You just don't know for sure if he was abused.
As for reading about animals being abused, I Have Read about it. Are you An Expert? Or a veterinarian? It was pretty crappy of you to pretty much yell at me about my comment! There were 11 comments total. You hadn't needed to single me out and, well, treat me as if I was stupid! Shame shame on you! Or are you just that opinionated? 🤷‍♀️

@@PADS62 ahh yes. *I can only presume from an animal or any human not making contact, avoiding interactions IS ABUSED. THANKFUL for the doctors and scientists that give us the published literature so we can realize signs. MAYBE YOU WILL READ ONE DAY MS. T & report back your findings or choose not to reply when no one asked anything of you!?* Who knows🤷🏿‍♀️

Can I just say? We see the miracle of Fostering. If he stayed at the shelter he would have been against that wall forever, I can garuntee that. And he would have probably been euthanized. I hate it, but that's the reality of the situation.
But because this amazing woman decided to take him in, foster him, show him love, and then allow him to find a home... this is why we need more foster homes.
