That first one is intentional. You can’t just ignore gravity, you need to wait for your downwards momentum to reduce after you grab the ledge so then you can pull yourself up.

regarding the first example, dying light 1 also has a fast pull up animation, the trick to consistently get it is to not jump higher than the object that you are trying to grab, because this makes aiden "fall" into the grab requiring more force for him to pull himself up, whereas if you jump at a lower height than the object and look up towards it, he will instantly climb up. if u want to maximize speed, you need to either jump above the objects to the point you land on top of it, or jump upwards toward it, from bellow.
for speedrunning DL1, its really helpful that you can switch weapons/equipment mid sprint or parkour etc, and the fact that Aiden's slower movement isn't enjoyable makes DL2 speedrunning non existent rn lmao
DL2 e3 has alot of details retail can implement ;) -Flashlight -A few animations that adds immersion like close ledge grab where Aiden prepares himself to hold the ledge, E3 Tic tac and Climbing animations -Sfx -Lighting, Shadow, Textures, Map, and alot. -UI too
Ws're talking about the game not real life. And DL2 parkour is not realistic anyway, and the move showed on the video only annoys players and ruins the gameplay. Aiden can make Street long jumps, run 7 meters up the wall, run 10 meters long on the flat wall, survive falling from building. These things are not realistic. So why not add that move to improve the movement. Its a game, its not meant to be like real life, and that slow move showed on the video trying to be like real life only ruins the fun, some players don't even realise how much they relied on it in DL1. Don't You think it would make parkour more fun and improve the flow? Cause I do

Im sorry but you can literally quick switch between weapons??? lmao if you just press it briefly instead of long it quick switches while you move... (It did that literally since launch, and is way more convenient if I can quickly switch from hook to uv flashlight if I need it, I dont even have to select, just briefly press 1) Im honestly surprised how no one knows this and complains abt it crying to techland even tough that issue is non existent, you can quick spam trough your 4 items there by clicking the change button briefly instead of holding, its not that hard bruh 😭 I agree with the vaulting but the second one isnt "Actual facts" like someone else said :)
I know and everyione knows about briefly pressing button, that's not the problem. The issue is that by briefly pressing the button you may still accidently hold it, which results in bringing the wheel and selecting the wrong item as you go, which also stops your movement. If you change your inventory a lot you don't know on which position you are curently, plus you have to look down to see if you selected the right thing, in DL1 you didn't have to focus on it. It's also slower to go from 1 to 4 by pressing the button 3 times than bringing up the wheel, comparing to DL1. Also don't tell me you never accidently missed and skip what you wanted and had to make another round around your inventory. It's a small detail, and as you can see people would really appreciate it. I used to Speedrun DL1 and being able to set up your gear as you go without stopping or slowing down time was amazing.
I wrote at least 3 tweets about Aiden stopping when selecting a weapon tagging them. They still haven't fixed it. Are they really listening to community? It is such an easy fix...

In DL2, the parkour is significantly more dynamic and creative, with a grappling hook that acts as an extension of the parkour rather than a detriment. But ik for a fact you "DL1 better than 2 hurr durr" brainlits won't ever attempt to make an actual point outside of that lmao

Exactly, so it would be nice if they speed it up. I recently came back to E3 trailer, and it had the same exact pull up animation, but much faster
