Thank you. I have become a tad addicted to 48 Hrs, It is fascinating to see how investigations play out, but one cannot help but feel sorry for the victims and their families, their suffering is palpable.
I can never understand why some people believe that murdering another person will solve what they see as a problem. Not only that but how the murderer can be so stupid as to tell others about things like finding the perfect mine shaft into which they can dispose of a body. I suppose it's simply a matter that they aren't anywhere as smart as they think they are. All-in-all, these are matters where logic has flown out the door. Well done 48 Hours NCIS!
This story is heartbreaking. I was a young military spouse and I was also cheated on. It hurt so much. It's a betrayal. I forgave my spouse, but it happened again. I finally filed for divorce. Situations like this are common in the military for many reasons. Some were stated in the video. Many military couples are very young. They get married so they can be where their spouse is stationed, but often have a lot of time alone if the spouse has training away, or is sent on temporary duty elsewhere. This case is very sad. Erin started out with a young mother who couldn't keep her. She was homeschooled and hadn't been around a lot of people, or away from her family. Getting married so young and going to an unfamiliar place is hard. Her husband wasn't around because of his training. She made a mistake that I saw happen with friends and coworkers. I saw a lot of comments blaming her, but it took lonliness, homesickness, and the attention and advances from a man who led her down the wrong path. 18 is just too young to be married, but marriage is the only way a couple can stay together in the military. RIP, Erin. And to her loved ones, I send my prayers. I know you will see her again someday. 🌹 ✝️
My mom graduated from HS &!married my dad later in that year @ 19 years. Cooked homemade meals, sewed her own clothes & worked as a Secretary until she retired early as a State Director! Plus she was unbelievably naturally gorgeous & she knew it.
During my time as a military spouse I met plenty of young couples having married young-ish (22) myself. I can't say we encountered the problems stated by the OP. We attended good churches and the wives were truly like sisters who supported eachother through everything in prayer and practically. I myself had no problems with the separations throughout his career - one knows beforehand that'll be part of life and marriage to a service member. There is so much to do on base abroad and if you're stateside even more off base. Hopefully wives in any marriage learn from this episode that adultery actually never solves anything.
I’m older & the first thing that came to mind is DONT overshelter children because they won’t know how to handle real life later on. Our parents were strict but we were allowed opportunities to live & learn ..
Growing up as freely as I did is amazing when I think about it now. The world wasn't as dangerous than but my parents were very trusting. My sister, a year and a half older was smart and level headed. My parents trusted her to stay out of dangerous situations. If parents behaved like mine today, they would be accused of neglect. Life turned out great for both my PhD sister and me.
@1:39:19 That poor, naive woman. She was willing to throw it all away for a man who cared so little about her he took her life and threw her away like trash. Dear people: if someone is married; leave them alone. There’s a reason they’re with another person and not you.
Haven’t watched before. As usual the root cause was “cheating”, marry too young. I feel sorry for the defendant’s innocent little daughter and the victims’ husband.
I’m so mad I fell asleep and had to figure out where I left off that I can remember well ended up rewatching in the morning as I cleaned 😂. This is pure heartbreaking 💔 prayers continued to her family and loved ones 😢🙏🙏🙏🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

I wonder, tight budget, no money for reenactment production. With those I get bored with the many repeated of the same photos, victims and main character, I yell I KNOW HOW THEY LOOK
@justinkelly3106 I have always told my daughter to learn from the mistakes others make. Hopefully more folks will because adultery can indeed get you killed.
My parents met in a playpen when their moms attended events with their older brothers. In 1st grade my father slipped a note under mom’s classroom door: “Gay loves Dot.” (Galen & Dorothy) They married a couple years out of high school “til death do us part.” Mission accomplished.💞 🕊️🙌🏼💕🤍💞🕊️🙌🏼💕

But, he's in the military, so he KNOWS ABOUT REPORTING. Well sounds like she needed to go back home...or mom needed to visit. My ex and I were together since age 11 and got married our if HS and went into the Army...yes from Tennessee, Oakland Ridge is about 20 minutes from us, this case got my attention. Yes we military wives do serve in many ways, but we have to fill our own lives as well.
John May not have killed her but he isn't blameless. He's an abusive, cold, terrible partner. He carries a lot of blame for his abuse pushing her away. And Nicole's no better. Two terrible people who pushed their partners away with abuse.
John's no angel, but people change in the military. They see things that change them. Until we become fully supportive of the mental health needs of our veterans, people need to think long and hard about what being with a veteran can entail.
@17thknight Oh boy... The only persons responsible for their mistakes are Chris and Erin. People invented blame-sharing (ranging from Johnny made me do it to the devil made me do it) so they don't have to own their sins. But, that defence neither works on earth nor in heaven.
Why?Being quite, emotionless and boring is not a crime. They were simply incompatible. Erin was just too young to not make the mistskes she made under the circumstances.
My God,if ur man enough to serve ur country, but not man enough to own up to up mess ups... twisted. If ur man,n one. Talk about getting things twisted.😓

@@clarechomyn9686lucky, many of us were just lucky 🍀 😮 We did stupid stuff & frankly surprised we made it through the early years!

Cheating, money, power, excitement, attention, it’s all of that & more!
Marrying young's not a problem. Adultery, however, is.
❤😢 Poor Erin. What a tragic life. She deserved so much better; so much more. 😢❤
poor erin? lol she cheated and lied
@@pookie47 yes that doesn’t mean she deserved to be murdered, that’s cruel.

This is tragic.
I wonder why Erin cheated on her husband with this creep? And, yeah, not premeditated with that homemade garrote?
a. He made her laugh.
b. Well, it's hard to find a store-bought garrote.
What is a garrote?
@@charsiu_808 The garrote is the hideous tool he used to strangle her. 😥
@charsiu_808
This is a garrote. 3:38:14.
Do not cheat.
A lot of these murderers have roots in “cheating”.
This is 4 hours long but thank you for the spoiler cause my phone’s about to die 😂
Don’t get married at 19.

This story was too much all around! Baby girl did not deserve to lose her life, but everybody in this case was doing WAY TOO MUCH!
😔 That poor girl.😢
I used to listen to radio shows when I was a kid and there was no video medium like You Tube and I think I prefer the visuals.
I wonder, tight budget, no money for reenactment production. With those I get bored with the many repeated of the same photos, victims and main character, I yell I KNOW HOW THEY LOOK
I like the radio style. I turn off my screen anyway on stuff like this. YT heats up the phone so much & eats more battery with screen on.
There wasn't a community on the Marine Base
I find that hard to believe.
The oath thing they have them do in court is useless.
Cheating spouses often get murdered, especially when they get pregnant.

I have always told my daughter to learn from the mistakes others make. Hopefully more folks will because adultery can indeed get you killed.
Dude has a special place in a very hot place. As if she abused that child. Way to ruin so many lives
Wouldn’t they find her car and start a search there?
They did...
She sounds far too sheltered and naive. Married the first man who inquired. A tale as old as time. What a shame.

Neither homeschooling nor marrying young are problems but adultery is never a good thing.
To bad there r no pictures of the people talked about!!
Thank Youuuuuu..Greetings gs from Switzerland
The audio of the podcast sounds off? Like it’s generally echo-y? That’s my only critique here
Within 5 minutes it was suspect of the husband.
An innocent person's story NEVER changes.
This wasn't six episodes. It was one l-o-n-g story that lasted 232 minutes. Sleep inducing.
Ugh, my daughter and her Marine knew these guys at 29 Palms.
This REALLY could have been 30 minutes!
Yes
It's called "Full Podcast + Episode" for a reason. If you want the short version, just watch the last chapter "48 Hours: NCIS": The Marine's Wife.
Oh my yes! I'm twenty minutes in, and allthey've said is Erin is missing - too repetitive to continue.
I don't agree. I enjoy the added facts and history, and how we got to know Erin through her mother. I also enjoyed the trial coverage.

Why wouldn’t he go with her on hike? Why didn’t he immediately start looking for her that evening?
