I just picked one up before realizing you had this video on them. Wanted to not beat up my purchased new over 20++ years ago ms440 using it on a chainsaw mill. Also thought it was better with air filter and size than my 590 or 620. I have to say I was impressed it had a muffler mod only it appears aka base gasket still installed. Paid $100 they mentioned something about the oiling issue but turns out it was missing the o ring that seals the oiler to the case so the chain only got about half the oil lol. My neighbor and I were both impressed how well it ran and started.
My cs680 is wearing a 32in bar semi skip chain and pulls great burried in the wood. I wish more saws had manual oiler overides, you can hit it and hear the rpms pick up. Been a good saw but i can't feel the difference between that and the cs680.
I have a ca 680 and want to run a better carb. I think mine has a HDA271 15.08 bore on it and I don’t think it runs as high as yours. The early ones ran HDA63 and or a HDA45 which are 16.8 bore. What is yours???
I had one that was stock and it was the only saw I had for a while. I had a stihl 036 built after I got rid of my 670 and I’m just saying that the 036 is faster. It’s a fair bit lighter, more powerful in stock form. 670 was good, but 036 is better
I'm truly a fan of the grey echo saws

Gosh boedy you are really making me want to rebuild my 6700
Boy golly does one extra pound get you a lot of extra horsepower
Like the high rear handle grip of the echo 680. Reminiscent of a Mcculloch 850
im happy with my cs590 muffler mod... everything else on it is stock... sadly thoe it struggles in 20 in. fresh cut green Douglas fir.
