      I come from a Ford family, always loved my Hondas but somehow ended up in a Murano! Real world power and fuel mileage is more than adequate. Another plus for the VQ engine is that it is multi port fuel injected and not direct injection. DI has a tendency to dilute the oil with gasoline and requires the owner to pay close attention to oil changes. Just a heads up really. The CVT in mine has 115k on it and still operates as it should.

    The one thing that Ford did was eliminate the NA V6 in the lower trim levels. From 2015-2018, Ford made the V6 a $495 option and reduced the horsepower by 5 compared to the 2011-2014 Edge. They wanted to push the turbocharged 4 cylinder for the sake of fuel efficiency (CAFE requirements). However, that V6 was the most efficient and reliable engine for the Edge (water pump issues notwithstanding). These 4 cylinders have been very problematic because of a coolant intrusion issue in one of the cylinders. Many Edge owners with these motors have had to get them replaced entirely because of this issue. The 6 cylinders, on the other hand, never had that and were actually better suited for the Edge.

    • @tritchie6272
      @tritchie6272 5 лет назад +1

      They probably made the video in part for fun. While I doubt many people if anybody buys a crossover to race with its probably considered a plus if it can be abit fun when you step on the gas. Then some folks worry about getting out into traffic. As for which of these are best in bad weather,probably Pass Port. I'm not sure how good the Edge and Mourano are on slick roads. But Nathan did a video with the Pass Port in the snow. It looked to me like it was doing its job pretty good. The job of restricting Nathans fun in the snow. The Rav4 which he also tested didn't seem to want him to get to crazy either. I actually wouldn't mind seeing a video of how good ALL of the AWD crossovers do in bad weather. Just not sure if its really possible for TFL to test that or not.

    The Honda Passport vs Ford Edge, the winner goes to the Passport and the reason is the Ford Edge barely beats the Honda Passport in the drag race. So due to the fact that the Ford Edge costs about $7,000 more than Honda Passport and has fewer accessories than the Honda Passport. I would go with the Honda Passport by a mile over the Ford Edge. Hopefully, one day the chief executive officer at Ford Motor Company will finally wake up. So my buying car decision is final. I am going with the Honda Passport Touring or Elite in February 2020.

    I’m a commuter with combined city and highway driving. The Edge is close enough for 0-60, and seemingly won the drag race. Unless fuel economy is vastly different, the obvious winner is the Passport because of the surprising price difference. Unfortunately, I already bought the 2019 Ford Edge Elite AWD. Hindsight is 20/20...I should have shopped around. Wish this video was out earlier!

      The Edge is the right choice IMO, and assuming you bought the Titanium as there is no Elite trim in the edge but there is in the Passport. Similar equipment packages (Passport Elite VS Edge Titanium) the Edge is cheaper. Also the Edge is more fuel efficient Combined/Highway/City 23/28/21 vs the Passport 21/24/19. At a lower elevation the Passport would leave the Edge behind. In this video, the turbo made the difference. Edge is a bit smaller as well... However, in real-world, the turbo in the Edge can result in lower MPG. Fuelly results show 2.0 Edge getting about 1MPG more than Pilot. (Passport is too new to be on Fuelly, but will likely be close.) Bottom line, it's a good comparison cause both vehicles are close. If you're happy with the Edge, then you're good to go...it's a good vehicle!

      For me, the Edge has been the better buy. First, the Passport lacks the room due to its smaller dimensions. I was far from comfortable sitting in a Passport and a Pilot. Muranos are on my stay far away from list because of the CVT and the bland styling. I am on my third Edge after trading my previous two in after 105k and 183k respectively. All have been way more reliable than the Maximas I owned.
      With Ford canceling the Edge after 2023, I am either going to stick with used Edges, Expedition Platinum, Explorer ST, or go German (Audi/Porsche).

    Run the Edge ST against the Blazer :) But the Edge has to have 1500 or more miles on it Ford has computer locked down so you don't get all the post until motor is broken in. Same thing with the Edge you tested. If it has just a few hundred miles your not getting all the power and needs high test according to the manual to get the full hp as well.
