Whenever a premium high refresh rate monitor doesn't offer a single mode that you can use across the entire refresh range, I immediately discard it as trash in my mind. This. I wonder; if MSI were to update this monitor (website says it supports firmware updates) to include a variable overdrive, would that would change Tim's recommendation from nay to yay?
LCD pixel overdrive is just a bs invention anyway. It doesn't change the native response time properties of the pixels in the panel, but just shifts them to a different type of artefact (overshoot). The non-overdriven response times are the true response times of the pixels. And it's even a bit worse than that, since no display reviewers measure the full response times of 0 to 100% change in colors. I think HU now measures 3 to 97%, which is better than the 10 to 90% it used to be for the past few decades, but still not the full 0-100% time it takes for a pixel to change color. And this does matter and can be perceived. True LCD pixel response times are really in the 10-15ms range. Barely good for 60Hz. Everything else is just pretending they can really keep up with higher refresh rates, but they don't. OLED shows how slow LCD pixels really are.

You could buy the 48 inch C1 and a decent 32inch side monitor for less than 2K and the performance would be unmatched by any of these over priced units....
the amount of research I've done on monitors to try and suit the new next gen consoles is insane. every monitor I look into has a problem that makes it not worth the 600+ dollars IS THERE ANYTHING OUT THERE. Less than a year ago I've got LG 27GN950-B for 1100$, backlight bleeding is bad for that pricey monitor, all other stuff - some are great, some pretty good. I'm a photographer/videographer/gamer and need a 32" monitor to use with Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere, and, of course, gaming. Sounds like this is the best monitor for that because of its 10-bit color depth and color gamut specifications. My budget is in the sub-$1,000 range. Thoughts?
had this monitor for a few months now, picked it up for $600 NZD i came from a odyssey g7 32' and honestly the colors are just a bit more nicer and a bit more clear. I liked the g7s 240hz display, felt nicer. I wouldn't recommend the MSI monitor if you're paying retail for it.

I was waiting for a good 4k 32". Just gave up and got the 38" Alienware AW3821DW. I never wanted to buy Alienware but it's pretty sick. 3840 wide but only 1600 tall. Which is less awesome for productivity but means fewer pixels rendered when gaming. $1499 AUD for a decent, fast, IPS monitor
any chance you'll be able to review the M32U? I have heard it should be compared to the FI32U, but I really don't know. I also heard there was a fairly recent firmware update that sounds like it applies to the FI32U, M28U and M32U. I wanted to know if your reviews reflect that update. thanks.
I recently got a RTX 3080 and was on the hunt for exactly 32" 4k monitor and this basically has told m,e what I had originally thought with a hell of a lot more detail than I, thanks guys.
same here. I just upgraded to i9 12900k with 3070 ti and still searching for a decent 32" 4k 144hz monitor. My current monitor is a Samsung 32" 4k but stuck at 59hz..I might get this one.
I tried out the 32 inch GN650-B from LG (1440p resolution) and it was super underwhelming. Extremely bad input lag/blur, with lots of overshoot. Picked up a 27 inch IPS from LG as a replacement and it is way better at handling the refresh rates that these monitors reach. The 32 inch VA panel had similar response time performance to the monitor you're reviewing here. Overshoot and inverse ghosting were extremely distracting on the 32 inch panel, and caused extreme eye fatigue while playing high-response/high-detail games like Path of Exile, where there is a lot of white text over black boxes moving across the screen. Sad to see that so many of these "higher end" monitors are plagued with either extreme amounts of overshoot or slow response times that are inadequate for 144/155/165 hz. Interesting, though, to see that the LG IPS you tested did very well.. that lines up with my experience with their 27GP83B-B. The only issue this monitor seems to have is a bit of a screen door effect, though it is most noticeable during startup and seems to go away after it's on for a while.
Hi love your vids. Any chance for a vid comparing a 43" 4k 60hz TV to a good not much more expensive monitor? I've been using a TV as a monitor for the last 9 years (32" for the firs 5 years and 43" 4k for last 4 years) and very happy with it but would like to know what I'm missing if anything.
Bit confused on your stance on the motion setting. You say "Fastest" is best but then you back peddle to "Fast" is best for Adaptive (Basically everything that is VRR). So fast is ideal with anything VRR?
I have the MSI optix 321UR-QD model for my ps5 but I feel the reds are way too strong in HDR. Do you know any way I can turn it down? Or can you recommend a different 4k HDR monitor with proper reds out of the box in HDR mode?
Hello Tim, do you know if there will be much, if anything in the curved 4k monitor market? I tried curved, due to eye strain, and was amazed at the results. I switched to curved in mid 2020 (with working from home and then gaming) as eye strain and induced headaches became more frequent and worse. In the 16 months since the switch, not a single instance of strain or headache. Finding high refresh, curved 4k seems to limited or just not there. Is it to niche of a market or was it just a fad for mainstream?

@@moetazammar964 It's an idiomatic expression where it's just right in so many ways.
@@SeraNeph I'm aware it means something, I'm just curious what it is. Also because I was looking to maybe get that monitor
27 inch is too small
@@williamg7138 nah it's acceptable
Ahh, a monitor I might be interested in to replace my (two) 60Hz 32: 4K monitors. Then the price and I tell my self I am happy with what I have.
What monitors do you have?
@@_vinke Two LG 32UK550-B's. I'm sure average at best but they work well enough for me considering the price of 144Hz models.
@@highlanderknight I got myself a 3070ti and I need to get my money worth. So I need a 144hz monitor, preferably 4k..
So, when viewing regular content, do you need to keep switching the mode when you are done gaming?
I bought this monitor because I was tired of gaming at 60hz. 4k for text clarity writing school papers, and 99% adobe RGB coverage because I am a photographer. It's not perfect for any of my use cases but out of all the 32in 4k monitors it addressed my needs the most.
There is no monitor for gaming and creativity, you have to pick either side. Picking in the middle will mean you won't be fully satisifed with either
You mentioned the M32U - does that mean you have taken a look? in my country, there is only a 50€ difference between that and the M28U... 849€/799€ - much different than the ~400$(?) difference you mentioned.
I lIked your review. I was thinking about buy this one but like you said the price seems too high compared to other. You made it clear technically. Thank you. Just sub counting on you to found the ONE
Was excited to pick up this monitor as my intro to 4K after its announcement and watching Gear Seeker's video...but now I'm not so sure. 🤔
Thoughts?
It has widest color gamut and also has sRGB mode, adobe mode and DCI-P3 mode. Definitely suitable for creation.
Hi Steve, did you ending getting this monitor, if so....are you happy with it? or which one you buy?
@@kanedafx1 Yes, I got the MSI and I love it.
@@ducrab Wow I miss your reply all this months, you still have it?
how's the deltaE?
Can you do a review on the viewsonic elite 4K 150hz monitor? Cheers
Hope you will review Optix MPG321QRF-QD too :)
had this monitor for a few months now, picked it up for $600 NZD i came from a odyssey g7 32' and honestly the colors are just a bit more nicer and a bit more clear. I liked the g7s 240hz display, felt nicer. I wouldn't recommend the MSI monitor if you're paying retail for it.
What about content creation use?
after almost 2 years later lg gn950 is still the king of 4k monitors...
I enjoy your monitor reviews even when it's not something I am looking to get.....but when new video cards are available again I would be really interested in seeing what 1440 monitors are around and good at the time.
Any chance you could review the LG 27GP950?
Isn't it essentially the GN but with HMDI 2.1? They have already reviewed that one.
Yes! It looks like it’s the best 4K 27 inch gaming monitor to date according to Rtings
@@AVerySillySausage who knows? Maybe a review would answer that question.
I bought the 32inch Samsung Odissy G7 and beside some minor points like slow wake-up times and only gsync with adaptive sync on I'm very happy with it.
May be Acer Predator XB323Q KNV bmiiphuzx (31,5; 4k; 144hz) will tell us about fast response time?
Tim,could you find out please?!)
Or Acer Predator XB323K (31,5; 4k; AHVA IPS; 144hz)?!
Hi, nice review thanks a lot. So this monitor or PG32UQ which has true 10 bits panel ?
I don't know about the "Best" part of any review / monitor because people wont use ALL the "best" parts of a monitor anyway.
Nice review.
Downvoter actually likes the monitor name
😂
Im going to wait for the 42in lg c1 monitors just don't get it this year thanks for the videos 👍
When does this come out I can’t find it on sale anywhere here in the USA
Whats the price? Can price mention be tagged to timeline as well or in the description?
I clicked on final toughts section, and no price mention even there....
What is the best 32" 4K gaming monitor did you reivew up to date? Your opinion, please?
May i suggest you test some Acer monitors ? For example the Nitro XV272U is a little bit faster than an LG 27gp850 and with better contrast according to Rtings.I would really love to see you test some of their monitors.
Did you guys get any and/or do you plan on reviewing the Eve monitors?
I have an RTX 3060 PC and a ps5. Should i get this monitor?
Hi. Which 4k gaming monitor would you buy today....at least 32"? Thanks.
if you game and want image quality i'd suggest a VA panel instead that's not as expensive
VA got trashy colors, only advantage is contrast and better black, still prefer colors as most imp. feature
Thank you! Though it looks like I will still need to wait for couple of years before buying new monitors to replace my old 2x 4K @60 experience. :(
Or buy a LG oled 48 inch 42 inch is coming next year
Thank you for your great compare, please give me an idea that should l buy MSI MPG321UR-QD or Asus ROG Swift PG32UQX your answer is very important for me hope you can answer me in a short time, or if you have better option l am open it.
Best.
@hardwareunboxed Do you guys know when the Acer Predator XB323K is coming? Or the 43" model?
You gotta review the new benq mobiuz "EX2710Q" its the new 165hz 1440p version!
haven't got time to watch this right now, but the thumbnail for this vid is hilarious
So which is the best monitor to buy bruh??
where can i buy this from and when ??
Which is better for HDR gaming, this or Dell G3223Q?
Great review - thank you. I’m not a monitor geek so a lot went over my head. I want to do 4k video editing and some light (just for fun) gaming off my Xbox One S (60Hz video push)….. will this monitor work well for both tasks?? Thank you for the help!!! 😃
Yes of course
damn in that ufo shot fi32u has the best Motion clarity 😮
I keep hoping Alienware will make a ultra wide 4K monitor.
I want Alienware/Dell to make a 32:9 monitor considering Samsung are struggling with G9 quality control.
I wanted to know if your reviews reflect that update. thanks.
Tim 3 - hi end gaming monitors 0 . Cue the music " But I still haven't found what I'm looking for ."
"hi priced"
I recently got a RTX 3080 and was on the hunt for exactly 32" 4k monitor and this basically has told m,e what I had originally thought with a hell of a lot more detail than I, thanks guys.
hey dude can u tell me this monitor is great for rtx 3080?!
@@CetutsDS did not find one yet, still on hunt, not sure it is currently worth getting as a lot seem overpriced
same here. I just upgraded to i9 12900k with 3070 ti and still searching for a decent 32" 4k 144hz monitor. My current monitor is a Samsung 32" 4k but stuck at 59hz..I might get this one.

@@Pettigo83so what did you finally get ?
Any chance you are reviewing the Eve Spectrum 4k 144hz? Looks interesting, but I hesitate to buy ut without seeing a review from you guys
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using 1 over the other, calibration of the TV, modes and best resolution to use.
I've been using a TV as a monitor for the last 9 years (32" for the firs 5 years and 43" 4k for last 4 years) and very happy with it but would like to know what I'm missing if anything.
Same here, getting into photo and video, so no sure if to get a monitor.
Which color profile would you recommend especially text reading like coding, reading works?
So whats better? Neo G7 or this?
Please do lg 27gp950
Thanks for the reviews. I'm looking for a 32 inch monitor to do double duty as a gaming display and TV. Looks like this one isn't it.
Current monitor names rival those of fax machines from the 90s. Still not at the same level, but close.
Am tempted by one of the Gigabyte hdmi 2.1's or an lg but waiting to see whats released coming months.
Remember when the numbers in the MSI monitor name used to mean something?
yeh, me neither.
@Hardware Unboxed When was the last time this monitor was in stock can't seem to find it anywhere has it even been released yet?
Hello Tim, do you know if there will be much, if anything in the curved 4k monitor market? I tried curved, due to eye strain, and was amazed at the results. I switched to curved in mid 2020 (with working from home and then gaming) as eye strain and induced headaches became more frequent and worse. In the 16 months since the switch, not a single instance of strain or headache. Finding high refresh, curved 4k seems to limited or just not there. Is it to niche of a market or was it just a fad for mainstream?
Ditto I wish they had something like this
What did you guys use to calibrate the monitor?
