    SUGGESTION: You should really do UFO ghosting tests on top of the monitor response tests just to show people what the response of the monitor really looks like in practice. It helps immensely to put the numbers to an experience.

    this monitor is S-tier for its price but there's a major caveat: many users are reporting horizontal black lines appearing on the bottom half of the screen after 3-6 months of usage - LG has actually issued a statement admitting that the panel is defective, but according to them it only applies to models manufactured between June and October of last year, and they're offering free replacements upon request till the end of this year; so if you're going to buy this, you better hope it's from newer batch or at least be ready to deal with LG customer support.

    Despite all the comments, I still think IPS LCD edge lit is the most safe panel choice around this price point even compared to VA with FALD or OLED that are still a prince range above this yet still have certain downsides to them sometimes (blooming in desktop elements in FALD, poorer VA viewing angles and dark smearing, low whites 100% on OLED and not being 4K, VRR flickering for both VA and OLED due to high contrast/gamma hybrid). For me I'll take the best quality 4K IPS panel like this one every day.

      At this price range, just get the LG 42 C2. I have used all the panel technology over the years for TN, IPS, VA & now ended up with a C1 48 Oled. As some one who struggled with eye strain during last couple of years, WOLED is a blessing in this regard. Biggest fear for people abt Oled is burn in. I'm a heavy user, racked up about 6000hrs on my oled in 2 yrs as pc monitor, which is like 5 yrs for a normal user. Still no burn in. So, burn is a non issue at least when it comes to Woled these days.

      I bought this yesterday and it arrived this morning. Overall super impressed, everything works as it should and sRGB mode is brilliant. Only issue I can see though, and it's a bit annoying, is the white uniformity. Actually it's most the colour temperature rather than white specifically (its just most obvious on pure white backgrounds). The right hand side of my screen is more pink ish than the left, which has a green ish tint. Shame the review did not mention this, the previous top tier LG IPS panel (LG 32GQ950-B) had the same issue which caused me to return it, albeit it was a lot worse on that one. Maybe its all panel lottery I don't know...

      @@vishruthbosek6262 I've recently bought LG 42 C3 and cannot stand the horrible ABL dimming (don't confuse with ASBL), bright scenes look horrible compared to my IPS monitor. My LG 32GR93U was manufactured in October 2023 and began displaying black lines across the task bar after 3 months. The monitor was purchased in mid-May 2024 and the lines appeared in early August 2024.
    I contacted the LG RMA center in my country (Vietnam) and here is the timeline/result:
    August 28 - 4:45 PM: Submitted online RMA/repair request.
    August 29 - 9:00 AM: Received call from LS CS confirming problems.
    August 29 - 9:30 AM: Received call from LG RMA center near my area asking for proof of purchase, serial number, and pictures of the black lines.
    August 29 - 2:00 PM: LG Tech came to my house and picked up my monitor and power brick.
    August 30 - 1:15 PM: LG Tech delivered my monitor with a brand new, flawless panel.
    All in all, my monitor was picked up, repaired, and returned in under 24 hours. 😀
    *Edit: If the black lines reappear in the future, I will update this post.*

    A note about port placement: I have three LG 32" monitors in a driving sim setup. The Monitor stand uses horizontal beams which the monitors hang from with brackets similar to many TV wall mounts. The ports point right at the beam, blocking direct access for the power and DP cables. In this one situation, I wish they were somewhere else.

    • @KaizenMethod
      @KaizenMethod Год назад +1

      Similar issue here, I had a 32" LG before my 32" Dell. The way the ports on the LG make the cables come out straight instead of down made wall-mounting a huge PITA. I had to use extra-long standoffs for the bracket and it was still tight. 90 degree adapters don't work either if you are using multiple inputs because the ports are above/below eachother not next to eachother.

When we enter the 1000$ and above category, the vast majority of people have long since lost interest. So ... demand for the monitor you are describing is probably even lower, because you can get one with a curve already and not everybody sees that as a problem.

      If your country doesn't have an LG RMA center then I would suggest checking the manufacture date before purchasing.
      The LG CS rep just needed proof of purchase, the serial number, and pics of the black lines. She didn't ask for anything else after hearing about the black lines and immediately sent out a tech to pick up my monitor.

    May I ask for a review of Dell G3223Q? I can buy it for 620 USD exluding VAT (in official Dell shop) and according to Rtings it has good gaming and office performance. It is cheaper by 40 USD than this LG and 70 USD than Lenovo Legion Y32p-30, what makes quite a deal. Sadly both LG and Dell don`t have KVM svitch but on the other hand Dells stand is very slim. I can see text so clearly even when its small and im far away from the screen. The matte effect is there but not noticeable compared to my old monitor. I can only see it with plane green or red screens, things like that. I have to get inches away from the monitor to even start seeing the pixels. The only reason not to get this monitor would be if you wanna watch movies/ immersive games on it and need darker darks. Next to my old monitor with a VA panel its definitely worse blacks. But its not noticeable for productivity use. I haven't played games on it yet but not having dark blacks should just makes it easier to see in the dark unless you wanna play immersive games. Hope that helps

    • @dizzy_plays
      @dizzy_plays Год назад +1

      Is this over DisplayPort or HDMI? Try the other type of connection and see if it helps. The other potential issue could be DSC on/off, certain monitors that need DSC to reach top resolution (like any 32" 4k 144hz DisplayPort 1.4 monitor) have had issues with certain GPUs/driver combinations when the screen resolution would go above the threshold when DSC kicks in (or when it goes below the threshold and DSC is turned off), every time there was a transition you'd get input signal desync (screen goes black and comes back as if you quickly unplugged/plugged in the monitor). To confirm this theory do the following:
      1. set Windows desktop frequency to 120Hz (which caps the monitor refresh rate to that even in games) or cap the FPS inside the game
      2. set color bit depth to 8 bit (instead of 10bit)
      Now start gaming. if the screen on/off issues have disappeared than you just confirmed DSC problems (at 8 bit color, 4k, under 120Hz the monitor does not need to enable DSC as it has enough bandwidth with DisplayPort 1.4 to do that without compression).

    • @ahmetdag1340
      @ahmetdag1340 Год назад +1

      @@dizzy_plays I tried both DP and HDMI2.1 certified cable, both have same problem. Tried capping the FPS to 90 just to make sure but it still happens (Tried 4K 120/60Hz in NVCP too but the problem persists). At first, I thought it was a DSC issue as you suggested but after playing games capped at 60FPS (Amnesia The Bunker, Elden Ring etc.) and still experiencing the same issue, I think it is something else. However, I am pretty sure it is a bug that could be fixed with a firmware update since Samsung support told me a firmware update is in the works for this issue like 6 months ago. Will never get a Samsung display again even if it is 50% cheaper than those who actively support their product post-launch.

The edges are noticeably darker when viewed from center position, and it's just unusable for me. When I slide to the side and look straight at the edge, it looks the correct color. Sitting in the middle and turning my eyes to the edges, they're significantly darker than when viewed right in front of them. Very, very disappointing at the inaccuracy of this review and the fact that I wasted my BF discounted purchase on a bad product.

    I'm looking for upgrade suggestions. I bought the Acer Nitro XV273K 4k 120hz in 2019 for $700. I am struggling to find a worthwhile upgrade that would cost me less than $800. I'm willing to compromise on 4k down to 1440p if the experience is worth while. This LG would be larger, and slightly faster. Doesn't seem worth the cost to me.

      I did a Google search for `32gr93u "fan"` and found a service manual. The service manual indicates there's a fan. It's interesting because this video says there's no active cooling for this model -- Monitors Unboxed falsely said the same thing in their review for the 32GQ950. Looks like they are overlooking this during their testing, or aren't as sensitive to the fan noise as some of us are.

    Does the ASUS pg32quR change this discussion? ... The R seems to be an update with a different screen. I've been staring at it at my local Microcenter waiting for it to drop to 900usd.
    I work between Linux, OSX, Windows for (programming, photoediting), Work (programming / TPM ish work), Gaming, respectfully.
    I've been looking for a 120hz+ (for half rate on OBS 60hz encoding), Freesync, but highly accurate colors, and the new pg32quR has those on the surface. I have a data color calibrator so I can run that.
    Just curious because I plan on replacing a nearly 10 year old Dell pixel perfect monitor, and keep color consistent between multiple monitors.
    Long I know and probably not work updating the pg32quR
    Thanks

    I am considering this to replace my Samsung Odyssey 32", I cannot stand the blurring in lower framerates and I think this is a great entrance to 4K. Could you review

    • @Percules_10
      @Percules_10 11 месяцев назад +1

      Hello@@GubiYoroi2. Just to be clear, I am refering to the first G7 that came out, 32" 240Hz. The latest ones and the NEO variants I dunno how they perform. On lower framerates with Freesync (or gsync) enabled the amount of inverse ghosting is quite hudge. If you go above 150 Hz then it becomes less and less visible. The thing is, can you make 200fps for all the games you play on 2k? Because if yes, then it is an excellent monitor and extremely quick on response rate. So for competitive gaming I recommend. But on ie 90 - 150 Hz the ghosting in dark areas and trailing of bright objects is just horrible. Below 70fps the freesync just breaks down. Flickering happens sometimes as well (common in VA monitors). If you don't care for freesync-gsync then it's fine.

    $800 is far too expensive for what you get, IMO. I got the LG 32UQ750 several months back for $699, which sports very similar specs with the biggest exception being using a VA panel as opposed to IPS, and that monitor often drops below $649.99 (lowest I've seen it go was $599.99). The older 32GQ950 is currently at $899.99 at Micro Center in the USA, and that one does HDR 1000 (sorta).
