Make sure you have cut toenails as short as possible/ hair done / have a care-taker that can show you how to put sling on and off/ how to shower/ how to dress and if single have ready made meals so you can just warm them up..
Margaret, Thanks for all your tips! Great ideas
Hi Dan,Just had a massive trauma tear repaired, learnt so much from you. My question is what is the right time to start pt.
Well that question depends on what exactly was done, what was the quality of the tendon itself, how hard was it to fix, how retracted was the rotator cuff. Unfortunately the only one who can answer that specific question for you is your surgeon. Good Luck for a speedy recovery!
Good info, thank you

Do you have to get the nerve block prior to being put to sleep?
Candace, typically it is done under light sedation in preop, before you go to sleep.
I am going to have rotator cuff surgery, but my concern is how am I going to get dress and how will I eat?
Gloria, It will take a little time but you will get there. I would recommend trying to use the other hand before surgery to get practice. Please consider joining our newsletter. First ten days or so u won't need to be dressed just have an oversized sleeveless night or shirt on as u can't get yr shoulder wet u will need assistance in some way or another so organise good friend or family to stay with u for a few days.
