I have both conditions. Rotate cuff tear and frozen shoulder. My doctor wants me to start PT at 3 weeks after op. I am concerned re tear while he is more concerned re freeze. He wants me to move so early and I am afraid to move so early. I have to listen to him I guess. Any chance to re tear if I don't wait to 6 weeks?

Have you ever done a second tenodese further down the arm if the 1st one failed ? My 1st one failed and I was told it's really rare that you do it again because it's a bigger operation with a longer opening and bigger risk of infection and so on. I know it's not possible to put it near the supraspinatus now as the tendon is damaged now and probably not in the bicipital groove any longer so harder to find the tendon

I am here for information and support. I am up in pain and I am waiting on surgery. My tear was traumatic. Thank you for your explanation.

Thank You Dr Orcutt for all your helpful well explained videos. I’m on my fourth week Rotator and bicep tear repair at 58 years old. Not a fan of the length of time for recovery but it is what it is. I am crossing my fingers that all goes smoothly but it sure is a bumpy road. Keep up the Great videos and thanks again!

I have full thick tears on my Supra, Intra muscles and a partial tear on sub sap. All three are atrophied. My doc says they are too far gone to expect a successful surgery. So I’m doing PT. Would either of these methods be viable options for my situation?

Why steroids using bodybuilders hurt so often is since their muscles grow stronger so much faster than their tendons and ligaments, and when you have that power its hard not to lift heavy. You can see many pro bodybuiders who understand this and they lift relatively light weights keeping their joints healthy. I think most recrational users dont even know this.

Hey! Thank you so much for all your great content 😊 I have a question around Biceps Tenodesis. After 12 weeks post op, and 6 months post op. Do you know what the respective loads/maximum loads are on the bicep tendon/repair at this time? I understand that at 12 weeks, the repair is fully strong, and the tendon has healed to bone. Is that correct?

Use iPA to remove the sharpie. Not sure on a white board but works on most things I have found. Worse case WD-40.

13 days post repair in the UK, all I remember my surgeon telling me is I had 5 anchors and they couldn’t do arthroscopic as there was more damage than anticipated, surgery was 4 hours, find these vids really useful thank you ❤

Thanks for the info. I am 54. Dr wants to replace shoulder. Very nervous about recovery time. It will impede my business if I am out to long.

It dosen't always end well. I exploded my shoulder in my dominant arm. I went through three surgical procedures, nothing worked. So they ended up doing a complete reverse shoulder replacement. A year later and my arm only functions at 25% at best. I now have a full thickness tear in my other shoulder. I went back to the surgeon that did my replacement procedure. Choosing the right surgeon is everything. I feel if I would have had my last surgeon who did my last two procedures. I think things could have possibly turned out differently. But he told me that the tear in my left shoulder. Is nothing like what happened with my right shoulder. He assured me that my left shoulder is completely fixable. Best of luck to everyone out there getting ready for a shoulder surgery. Everyone on here is correct, take your pain medicine as directed. I like most people here have had surgical procedures before. Nothing can prepare you for the pain of a rotator cuff surgery. But none of the three rotator cuff surgeries I had. Prepared me for the pain of the complete reverse shoulder replacement. It's no joke, the absolute worst pain I've ever had before. The only thing that comes close to it is tooth pain.

You can actually use a dry erase marker and draw completely over the permanent sharpie/marker and then wipe it right off. By doing so it will completely remove the permanent marker.

I just had first post op appointment today. My doctor told me l can start to take off sling to move my elbow and do some simple exercises. I said that early? He said i don't need 6 weeks. He did not put anchor, he used something to patch my tear ( supraspinatus). Mainly cleaned my frozen shoulder. I am afraid to move too early and re tear. What shall I do? Wait or start now? He already gave me PT prescription. I really need your second opinion. I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I've been diagnosed with a full thickness supra tear. It definitely hurts..more at night. I'm 45 and a very active and workout and in very good shape. I would love a second opinion. My doc wants surgery and I have put my faith in him but would love more advice. Thanks

Great presentation Doc. My question, are the PEEK suture anchors engineered to remain in the body for life? I assume they are designed to never break down or cause a chemical reaction. Do they become integrated into the bone and so become part of the bone? Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My bicep tendon is noted as normal in my MRI and ultrasound imaging, but I have partial tears of the labrum, infraspinatous tendon and supraspinatous tendon. After 6 months of physio and a cortisone injection in the shoulder joint and the bursa I still have pain and difficulty to lift my arm. My surgeon has requested another injection but in the bicep tendon. He says if I don't get relief from it he will do a bicep tenodesis. Why would he do that if the tendon is not torn? Any ideas? No narcotics for me. Meloxicam was prescribed because I just don’t take narcotics. I’ve had very little pain and I’m nine days from surgery.

Had my rotator cuff surgery today to my right shoulder . I am right handed! Was going to wait until the nerve blog wore off to take my prescribed meds but after seeing your video am getting up now to take them . Thank you for your information.

Unfortunately after a shower almost 3 weeks after surgery the biceps came loose and we couls see it on ultrasound and shape is only slightly different and you wont notise it. Can it grow to the ligaments and bone in the bicipital groove and be as strong as before and how long does it take ? I did a little bodybuilding only 3 times a week before and did biceps curl with 26kg in each hand. I am 55 and in good shape. Doctor say that you do not fastened the tendon with screws anymore as it was too painful afterwards.

I'd like to provide a counter comment to @MOAB-UT, if you have a rotator cuff injury like I do and are facing into surgery and a long rehab an 8 minute video that I can play at 1.5X with CC is not too long. I was literally hanging on every word and the clarity here is incredible, speaking in simple language so I can fully understand and can grasp the issue. Thank you for this video, again...IF ONLY I had seen it immediately after injuring my shoulder what could have been. Well done!

Extremely informative vids, doc, thnx a million ! I have week 1 of rotator cuff repair behind me. Not a lot of doctors like to give information. I even chose another surgeon, because the initial one refused to explain how exactly he was going to repair the torn tendon. I had to do my own research and fortunately found this channel. Please, keep up the good work, doc !

8 weeks post op rotator cuff and tendinitis surgery, still having discomfort pain I hurt my shoulder a week ago I heard or felt a pop and I’m praying I didn’t re-injured my shoulder I did ice it off and on for 15 mins it feels much better but it hurts. When the cold air hits my shoulder oh boy I feel it in the bone I can’t wear a bra for a long period of time it hurts also 🤦🏽‍♀️ help me.

Why would steroids be suggested if it is clear that a total shoulder replacement is required? How can a steroid injection repair bicep tendon tears? How can steroids repair tears to the labrum? How can steroids turn back the clock on Severe AC osteoarthritis? Thanks

If I had only seen this 10 minute video after my rotator cuff injury it would have saved me from being one of those guys who waited too long and now have a non-repairable full thickness retracted tear. I am heading for a tendon transfer surgery to try to salvage my shoulder. My advice...get the MRI so your doctor can see what is going on and get it immediately!!!! The clock is ticking, my doc said you have about 6 weeks and that is consistent with this video. Do not mess around with it, you can evaluate options after you know what has happened. So sad. Completely unnecessary what happened to me.
