Excellent anatomy video 👍👍 can an old school open surgery distal clavicle resection surgery however successful make someone prone to easier shoulder injuries many years later ??

@MrJeepJt, While it probably doesn't, a previous injury can make your shoulder susceptible for future injuries. If they took a lot off in the previous surgery it can result in instability of the AC joint. Hope this helps.

I had this injury 2 weeks ago. Dislocated inferiorly during a mountain bike crash. A friend popped it right back in for me at the time. No breaks seen on x-ray, but MRI shows minimally impacted greater tuberosity fracture. How long would you normally wait before recommending lifting my arm? I was getting stronger already and was able to lift that arm vertically on its own to full extension. I had been doing some light range of motion exercises several times a day that I saw on El Paso Manual Physical Therapy channel. They were really helping my arm feel better but the surgeon said yesterday don’t do that 😂. Basically he said I can text with that hand for the next month. 😢

Hey Matt sorry about your crash. I would follow the directions of your surgeon. Good luck on your recovery!

I just had this fracture 2 weeks back, from a 35 foot river dive on my left shoulder. After reduction xray missed to detect the fracture wasn’t corrected. Then got it fixed arthroscopically. Maybe you can make post correction video as well what to do and what not to do. Like I am worried if I won’t do something to damage it.

There is so much to think about when it comes to shoulder issues and what is the best way to repair or to treat those issues. Being I've had my Supraspinatus totally torn from the bone I've had to rely on my other arm to take up the slack, so to speak, I'm thinking that I've got some type of impingement going on and was wondering if there is something through physical therapy that can be done to help with the painful issues with that? I don't feel anything is torn but definitely pain as you described with certain movements of the arm in the direction you had mentioned. But as Always Dr. Orcutt you explain shoulder issues in ways the rest of us non-medical people can understand. I for one thank you very much for that!

Thanks Jim. You might want to check and confirm that you do not have a tear. PT can help with ROM and strength, that may decrease your pain.
