This guitarist is amazing, he's so good, so mesmerising, I want to be his student, I just wonder how he started it all,I could listen to him all day n night bcoz I don't get tired of that, I respect this guitarist, I think Africa needs to see him, others have come,he really should consider coming to Africa
This is bireli lagrene...probably one of the greats already...hes mainly influenced by gypsy guitarits such as django...he then played with lots of jazz greats such as jaco.
Check himout ..he has the same mastery since he was like 13

Même en faisant moins bien, comme sur ce morceau, semble-t-il(...), Lagrène réalise une interprétation excellente...
A savoir surtout ce que l'on entend par "mieux"...
ce mec il sait qu'il joue bien , bon enfin bien dans le monde du jazz , manouche ! car electrique ...bof ! c'est un virtuose mais les virtuoses ne sont pas toujours de tres bons musiciens ! trop de notes ...un truc en dehors de la realité de l'art ! en plus la guitare est un instrument tres lineaire , je veux dire les trompettistes ne voient pas leur fingerboard , la guitare peut vite etre cet instrument vide en plus avec ces cordes qui sonnent petit ! là....oui c'est bien les numeros de cirque ! mais la musique n'est ce pas autre chose ?
ah c'est sûr que si on est "tone deaf" et qu'on se borne à "regarder des doigts courir sur le manche", on risque pas d'entendre son phrasé qui est tout sauf linéaire...
C'est juste une question de goût et d'état d'esprit.
Ce n'est pas ce que disaient Jaco Pastorius et George Benson lorsqu'ils parlaient de Lagrène, qui reconnaissaient en lui un guitariste qui apportait beaucoup à la guitare dans son ensemble.
Mais sûrement des guitaristes qui abordaient un sujet qui les dépassait...
Une année à Marciac pour des raisons persos Mc Laughlin a dû déclarer forfait à un concert prévu. Il a suggéré aux organisateurs un guitariste qui pourrait le remplacer au pied levé et ce fut Biréli...
