    This is an excellent addition to make it more like a premium sedan such as in a Mercedes interior. Another great video!

    Best is to clean up the surface of the original grills with 99% alcohol and after drying use a 3M adhesion promoter. Make sure to cover around the grills with masking tape, as the promoter usually leaves stains. When using promoter, alignment of the new grill is crucial before you stick it up, as it's permanently fixed and no adjustments will be possible.

      Yes, isopropyl alcohol is best for prepping the area. The grills didn't come with any prep material. Thanks for the note.

    Thanks for the video, this helped me answer whether I could expect to be able to remove the OEM grills on the doors to repair a crack/cut in one. Looks like you can't, not easily at least.

      Yes, they're not designed to be removed. Someone with the determination and a Dremel can make it happen! I think service just replaces the whole door panel.

    I would like to know does the sound quality sounds the same. Does it rattle?

    Did you notice a difference in sound quality? Do the metal grills rattle when the volume is turned up loud?

    • @MTNRanger
      @MTNRanger  4 года назад +4

      I was thinking of that during installation. So I installed just the left side. During the week I'm listening for any differences. So far I don't notice any change or vibration. I also may take apart the right side panels to see if I can remove the original plastic covers. I'll see if it makes a part 2 video necessary.

      I was wondering the same. I guess there will be less sound coming out of the holes are blocked?

      @@MTNRanger were you ever able to remove the plastic speaker grills? My friend accidentally kicked mine in and I would really prefer not to replace the entire door lol

      @@HERPDEDERP49 I removed the door panels and the grills are firmly attached - similar to plastic melted welding.

    Do you think that it has any impact on sound quality? I cannot find pictures of how it looks like zoomed out on the entire door... what is your opinion on it?

    • @MTNRanger

      Having them installed for several years, I have no issues. The sound quality seems just as good to me. If there were a non-destructive way to remove the original grills, I would have done so.

    Mine fell off after a couple of days and that's with using an adhesion promoter. I think the problem is the grill surface area is so small that the tape can't bond. Did you have any problems with your grills?

    • @MTNRanger
      @MTNRanger  4 года назад

      My driver's side front cover is doing the same. I removed the included adhesive and used another 3M tape. I also used adhesion promoter the second time. Yes, the perforated plastic underneath is part of the problem. A big issue for me is the very cold temperatures outside may be affecting it. I'm going to try again when it gets warmer. What's odd is the others are holding well. I wonder if it is the door opening and closing frequently?

    • @SamKyosho
      @SamKyosho 4 года назад +1

      @@MTNRanger I'm in FL and even with our hot temps, adhesion promoter and trying different tapes (used genuine 3m) makes it still fail. For now I removed them all sadly :(

      For one reason, the driver's door cover had a problem with sticking and I had to remove the old 3M tape and apply new tape. All the other doors and tweeter covers are still holding well. No issues with vibration or rattle.

      Yes, it is according to any car resource website. While I don't think it's a luxury vehicle, it is clearly premium. cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/tesla/model-3 and hundreds of others I could list.
