- Lots of people ask me about my body refin '55 affectionately named "The Biscuit". Here's the story about how I came to own it. I got it from Uncle Larry when going his place to buy a different guitar. I remember seeing it in these two KILLER videos of his, and knew I had to check it out:
• Homeskoolin' Monday Ni...
• Homeskoolin’ Honky Ton...
In this video, playing starts around the 5:15 mark.
Thanks, once again, to Uncle Larry for a GREAT guitar!

keep it up!
Thanks so much man. Much more to come!!
Other than Tom and Justin who are the other Pro Studio players on RUclips?
@@mikewallace1270 @timpierceguitar
So since that is your #1 tele what would be your #2 tele then? ‘55 might be hard to come by! Lol
Oh hell yeah, that's a raunchy tone alrighty 🤠😎
I am 2 days older than this guitar (02/14/1955). I have always considered the Telecaster to be the best guitar. And this "cookie" is just class!
I'm fortunate to have purchased a '53 Tele when I was 19 years old at a time (1971) when there was no such thing as vintage guitars, just old ones. I paid about what a new one sold for, and even then my friends thought I was nuts. Just recently, after getting the Pinecaster book I decided to open it up and take photos of the dates, I hadn't looked in years. Mine is clear and undisturbed, Gloria 6/1/53. The neck and body are within a week. They must have been cranking them out back then. Enjoy your guitar.
So cool! This is exactly why I didn’t name it Gloria. Haha. She probably signed hundreds if not thousands of guitars over her tenure. Enjoy that guitar in good health! 🍻
Tommy’s guitar from the night he moved into his new place. That video was different and powerful.
This dude is convincing us all to buy that special vintage guitar when it comes along!
You are very humble. Just to push that a bit: You dont just play guitar - you are a total amazing guitarist and musician.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I really appreciate that!
If you Google Leo Fender's early Factory there's an old black & white picture of Gloria Fuentes & other employees sitting for a 25th anniversary pic✌😎☮
Thats a great story. Uncle Larry seems pretty legit. I'm glad you get to work with him. Keep up the great work.
The Biscuit is a sweet, sweet Tele. Your playing definitely does it justice. If Tom let a Tele that sweet go, can you imagine how nice any Tele's he's kept are? I really enjoyed this little show-and-tell.
He has let better guitars than this go before. Dozens of them. He'll sell off what would be a desert island guitar for anyone else. He just doesn't get attached. I admit I don't get it!
Great to see you enjoy that guitar that much. Loved your whole 3 takes on that solo outro dude. It's an awesome feeling when a guitar inspires you to play and go one direction or another. Congrats Justin!
Justin, great to see your subscribers starting to grow. Great Chanel
That tele is so sweet looking and sounding. Wise purchase, Tom is a wizard and he has such a good taste and knowledge of vintage guitars (I am sure you do as well). You are so stoked! Nice!
Dude, you nailed that outtro on the first take! Great playing and, yeah, thst guitar sounds killer!
That is so cool, Man. Congrats on your incredible guitar!
Great video Justin! I saw the title of your video and had to watch being a big fan of Uncle Larry. Loved your playing and you gained a new subscriber.😎😎😎🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸
Oh man I just found a youtube goldmine with this channel! Keep up the great videos, they are much appreciated!
Thanks a ton!
Wow! I can’t believe how great that sounds not plugged in. And, even better plugged in! That is a masterpiece. You are very lucky 🍀 and you have a new subscriber. 👍☮️🌞🎸👏💖
Great video, great guitar, great playing, subscribed, Thank you.
From one great set of hands to another great pair! That's a beauty.
Gloria. Great story! Thanks for sharing with us.
Really appreciate your devotion and joy at using guitar to love life and live!
Amazing tone out of that Tele! Not to mention all of the sweet licks there.
Thanks for making me wish I had one…
That's a Cool beautiful instrument, in the right hands. Thanks for the show & Tell.
This is amazing. I noticed how clean and smooth it looked. Then you said refinish. It’s beautiful and they preserved the tape. Beautiful guitar. My uncle had 53 Esquire when he sold it they found a front pickup sitting in the cavity under pickguard. Never soldered. Must of been in a hurry
Very Cool, Thankyou. Stunning guitar and playing. Cheers
You have such a steady left hand. You're so smooth it's outrageous!
Bro! I didn't even know you had a channel! I can't wait to do a dive into what you do on here. Thanks so much for all the hard work you have put into any session you've ever done with me: I very much appreciate it. You are such a talented and great guy!
Thanks a ton dude!! It was great seeing you last week!
Super nice sounding Telecaster! You got blessed! Love that growl of the bridge!
Great tone brother. Awesome purchase.
Great playing Justin! I just came over from a Buk video and am now subscribed to your channel!
I shall be subscribed! Great stuff, looking forward to more vids... Loved what you said bout playing tastefully! Definitely appreciate that as a bassist who also plays guitar.
That Tele is my favorite of all of yours, but honestly I have not heard a bad sound from any of them in your hands.
Been a subscriber for a while - it's great to see the channel grow. Nice work, you deserve all of your success. Keep it up!!!
Thanks a ton, Doug!
very nice , great playing , Tom and you are amazing players, I've played bass professionally for a long time always played acoustic guitar, now I'm playing lead guitar in a band , thanks for the inspiration ✌️🎸🎸
That is SOOPER cool Maestro. (I’m with you regarding your instrument approach. Both in the acquisitions and liquidation approach and the “what’s best for the song?” aesthetic.
As always, THANK you for your time.
Killer Tele and great story to go with it.... nice one!
New subscriber Justin! Great video, agree on the gap in YT vids and happy to have found you through this awesome tele. Thanks in advance for all the effort that goes into making these videos and sharing your knowledge and experience with the community
Thanks for the sub! Much more to come 😊
Cool guitar! Great playing, sounds amazing Justin. The Biscuit 🙂
Beautiful guitar & fantastic playing!
You got a new subscriber here. Great playing and thanks for the interesting tour of the Telecaster. I just bought my first Tele today - a 2022 ‘63 AVII reissue. That’s cool as hell that whoever did the refin put that piece of tape back in.
Someone else pointed out that the control cavity isn't refinished. They may have just left it in there and stuffed a rag in the cavity to protect it. Either way, I appreciate the care they showed. Very cool little historical Easter egg, if you ask me!
Love that Tele. Thanks for sharing.
Great hands man, quick and light touch. Congrats on a great purchase.
Appreciate it! 👊🏼
You make me want an old one! Great playing!
Your video randomly showed up on my feed. I'm a Fender guy. Had to watch it. Loved the guitar and the playing. Subscribed sir!
Much appreciated!
Great stuff Justin...1st time subscriber...why in the Hell did it take me so long??? Righteous chops!!!
fell in love with your sound, feel and playing on the Shannon LaBrie "War and Peace" album... your channel is very inspiring and insightful. Thanks!
Thanks so much! Had a blast making that record.
Your straight up when explain and give nice authoritative info and expertise on guitar is rocking🤘
Sweet guitar and youve got some serious chops! 👏👏
Thanks a ton, man!
That is cool! Respect, gotta have more of that. Pretty great.
Super cool signature inside that tele. I’ve been buying some cool used guitars from all over the US & I put the small shipping sticker inside the control cavities. That way the next owner can see where it started before me & hopefully they’ll do the same….let’s start this trend y’all! It’s a great idea to show the guitars’ life & travels.🤘🏼
DAMN That's what I'm looking for!!!!!!!!! I watch uncle Lar too and I think I saw him play it a couple times! Big Buchanan fan too and been trying to find the right one. I can't get around to well so hard to find stuff! Cool vid brother!! Wish I could find one!!
"one more time just 'cos it's fun" loved that, man. Subscribed.
Thanks a ton!
This probably one of the sickest guitars ever! That biscuit sure does rock!
I wish I had that kind of money sitting in my Venmo 🤣
Just found your channel and loving it, man. Sweet guitar!! 😎
Hey Justin! I just discovered your channel and it's fantastic! Gonna spread the word to my fellow Home Skooler's out there. Bravo!
Awesome! Thank you! Yeah I just need to tell like 100,000 of my closest friends haha
I have a 1955 tele original finish. The way you described your guitar fits mine almost perfectly. you have an early 55 and I do too. We both have the flat pole pick ups. Later on in 55 they had staggered poles. Sounds awesome! I wish I could play as good as you do though!
All hail the Biscuit! You lay some nice gravy on it dude. You rock!
New subscriber ,great stuff brother ! Look forward to more great shit and hearing more from biscuit. Congratulations on the purchase !
Thanks a ton!
It’s mostly the electronics and metal and copper in the pickups that it’s not the same anymore few to the new lows.
I loved the sound of this one the most on UL channel.
Great purchase!!
Very nice guitar,... love your playin too!
What a great story, and a GREAT guitar. Lucky you!
I'd love to find a Tele that light, too.
Thanks so much!
Wow just came across your channel. What a beauty she is!
Nice, man. I've been trying to buy random guitars from Tom for a couple of years.(ever time he puts up an "uncle Larry's garage sale" vid). But it seems like Nashville residents end up the lucky buyers. Which makes sense, I guess. My money is just as green in Connecticut, though. I swear. Haha. Good for you, man. Someday, I guess. You're right on what you said. All of his guitars are absolutely top-notch playing/sounding. He's an incredible player. That aside, his guitars are all incredible, sounding, for certain. Good luck!
i had seen that leslie style speaker cabinet he was putting in the yard sale. made me want to make a trip to TN. but now i REALLY regret not making the trip!
Well you just kicked some serious ass!!
Glad I found you!🎉
Yeah man, congrats...sounds great & great playing!
Andy!! How in the world are you man?
@@JustinOstrander Doing good man, hangin' in there. Thanks! Great to see you killin' it!
Wow. I am so glad that you bought that guitar. When you played to the song it sounded so amazing. Really amazing. I am so happy that a real player has that guitar and knows what to do with it. It sounds so REAL. It sounds like the real deal, because it is. But it is nothing without a good pair of hands, and you have them. Fantastic. Never sell that guitar, and record the hell out of it.
Thanks a ton!
Congrats on the guitar!
I love that c shape index bend you do a lot. Very nice..
T Shirt : "One more time, Just because it's fun ! " 😁... Also, what a badass, beautiful sounding piece of American History. Your playing ROCKS !! Keep up the cool content. Subscribed! 🍻
Thanks a ton!
You 100% nailed it with the slow growth woods (ask old school framer how things have changed (hint now you need a king, queen, jack, rook, bishop, and pointdexter stud now) the grains to loose. That's why strativarias fiddles sound so good. Old ass ice age wood! Imo that tele sounds amazing
Wow! What a great sounding tele. I fully understand why you didn’t want to pass it up.
Sounds superb !!
Talk about a ringer……and that sticker in the control cavity. That is amazing and also let’s you know you are holding Fender and American history. I would never sell that once I had it, ever! Happy for you and it sounds like you know exactly what to do with it. That guitar is meant to be played so play it!!! 😂
Some of the things you mention, like the bridge pickup's note bloom and the beautiful-sounding unplugged strum, are present in my new Original 50s Tele, though it has the fat 52 neck and won't be really resonant for another decade or two. But plugged in, yours has so much power and sustain - one of those guitars that sounds like it's playing itself, like Mick Taylor's ES-345 on "Can't You Hear Me Knocking." Great purchase.
Nice stuff Justin.
That geetar is a beauty. I’m just a little bit jealous.
A friend bought a pair of old P basses that belonged to The Guess Who ( i live in winnipeg where they're from) and it had an old bag of coke under the pickguard, that's how they'd travel with it back in the day. Played it in the studio, it was an amazing feeling bass with a ton of vibe.
Haha! WOW
Thats a sweet guitar! Congrats!
Damn!
The biscuit is the way.
Subscribed!
Wow! This cat, is a serious player... Just subscribed!
Cha Cha Cha! Good buy! Uncle Larry is also a matchmaker
That he is!

Thanks a ton!
That thing sounds super mean!!! Love it!!
Real nice Tele, sounds awesome too.
Sounds great!
Duuuuuuuuuuude! Met you on the David Nail tour. You had a Buk SG I didn't have cash for! Still remember those shows and you coming out to say hello in Philly. Hope the family is well.
Hey man! Thanks for stopping by the channel!!
Good lord, that Tele sounds insanely good!!
I'm a newbie to the channel and Biscuit sounds as if it was soaked in Alaga syrup... just too sweet!
very cool, ... thanks !
Very cool guitar and story !!!!!!!
Makes you wonder about “the life of Gloria”…. People are important, that’s something we all should consider…..
I hope the folks that made my guitars are leading Happy and Stress-free lives. 💛🎸😊😺
Edit: 1955 is when I was made, too.
loved the tom impression , ha ha ha, he's quite a character , that is a good sounding tele and think your spot on about not being able to reproduce a great vintage guitar no matter how much effort is put into it ...
Man what an amazing guitar!! Sounds awesome!!! It’s definitely in the right hands 👍🏽 gonna pickup my tele and play a little bit now 😊 it would be so cool to find out who Gloria the final assembler was…
Someone else said Gloria Fuentes. I'm gonna do some searching
Wow...nice score!
That Tele is one happy guitar in your hands and our ears.
It did really sound good unplugged. That is how you tell how it is going to feel and what the guitar really sounds like by itself, and that is what drives the amp. I think got a good one.
Great Tele! Finding the Gloria label was a cool bonus.
Beautiful guitar...
Very cool I have a 56 that I have changed over the years cause I will never get rid of it and it is also super light.
The Biscuit.😎🔥🎸
Love it.
