    I have always enjoyed the mellow sound of the group Bread. They were at their peak in the early 1970s --- my childhood years. Kudos to lead singer David Gates. The makers of this video are the only people saying to themselves "Bread, you're toast!"

      @LaurynX-n8e 10 дней назад

      Absolutely, if one was making a list of one-hit wonders with brief careers, but even so, it's a stretch to say that groups like the Chantays, The Pharos [Pintor], The Pyramids [Penetration], The Astronauts [Baja, Surf Party], The Tornados [Bustin' Surfboards], The Surfaris [Wipeout], The Atlantics [Bombora], The Centurians [Bullwinkle II] etc. have been forgotten... at least not while we have Quentin Tarinto to remind us😏

      And when you consider how many guitarists of note cite Hank Marvin as being a major influence on them, and how The Shadows made Burns of London Guitars collectable, and first put the Vox AC30 & The Fender Statocaster 'on the map' for so many musicians then & now, one can hardly say "without a trace"
      Someone doesn't know shite about their subject!

    Once again, numerous of these groups are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Platters, The Four Seasons, The Ventures, The Righteous Brothers and The Lovin' Spoonful (and as someone else mentioned, you included them on your first listing). And there are several of these groups that easily could be in the Rock Hall, including The Kingston Trio, even if only in the Early Influence category. Again, it's great to highlight these bands for younger folks who may not know them, but they haven't been forgotten. None are obscure.

    6:07 Bands that vanished from the 60's starts off with a band from the 50's... got it!
    That being said, I played in a punk band back in the eighties and we played in Vegas. The Platters heard us playing and and invited us to their table in another psrt of the casino, and we hung out and partied with them all night long.
    They really dug our guitar player, and we all dug them.

    The Four Seasons are so "forgotten" that they produced a Broadway musical based on their story, called "Jersey Boys". The bands may have broken up as music evolved, but as long as people remember their hits, they'll never be forgotten. Steppenwolf was still big into the '80s, headlining at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the mid '80s, and they still get airtime.
    Music of that era is much better than what passes for music, with all the technology that makes a frog sound like Karen Carpenter, these days. Those groups had talent, and today's "music" would not even be here without having built on their musical forebears.

    • @LaurynX-n8e
      @LaurynX-n8e 10 дней назад

      Yup... I've even seen the 'Jersey Boys' here in NZ... and there's the tribute band 'The Valli Boys UK ' also keeping their sound alive. Hardly 'vanished without a trace'!

    With your thesis all rock bands become relics even the Beatles, Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, Tears For Fears, Kiss, and on and on, are all faded into music history as relics of their particular sound. Mozart is a relic.
