- The National Weather Service confirmed on Wednesday that an EF-1 tornado had touched down in Tucson, packing winds up to 110 mph.

This is difficult to believe. We have high winds but not normally a tornado!
Phoenix has had quite a few tornados and a few of them were quite destructive.
@@standdown4929 When. I have lived here for 58 years and the only ones that I remember were in the late fall and mostly the Cave Creek area
@@alanbiancardi2531 I have lived here for 64 years and the tornado that went down camelback road in 1976, destroyed beef eater's restaurant and threw a truck through a liquor store, then jumped over the mountain and took all the roofing shingles and some roofs off of the homes in PV.
In 1997 three tornados came from the southwest heading northeast and destroyed many homes, including my parents' home, it was on the disaster list. It uprooted all of the huge trees on Belair golf course and threw them onto Bell rd.
Deer valley got hit snapping all of the telephone poles for a mile.
There are many more.
There was one in Patagonia a few years ago.

Az has super cells capable of tornados except they don't last long enough to develop. You can watch some of the monsoon storms start to develop rotation. Watch some of the local storm tracker videos. Az has rotating super cells and they are common.
This is NOT difficult to believe. Our sudden winds and tunnels can be fierce.
We get micro bursts not tornados
