      They bumped heads anyway, even with him not in the "Cliq." Bret Hart fit better with his family. You're right, but I think the Hart Foundation was way better for wrestling professionally. DX was just a couple of adults acting like little kids with a woman who looked like a man. What foreshadowing... Bret and Shawn made the business the best. Eventually, Bret's professionalism and Shawn's immaturity crossed each other. Easily the best performers of the 90s easily.

      It's not the first time it has happened in the wrestling business. Buddy Roger's gang ran Bruno out of new York and almost killed the wwwf, flair had his little group that followed him around and if you didn't buddy up with him or kiss his ass he wouldn't put you over. Hogan's got his little group he came to WCW with as well and ran out some of the younger guys, namely Austin.

    • @dingdong7610

      A lot of what he is saying is at least vaguely, or factually true. I remember they did do that bit with Owen and the insiguri on Shawn, Shawn fainting and taking time off. They were building Shawn up, but how much of that was just business, or whether or not it was favoritism, well, it's pretty obvious if you go back and watch the tape. Vince is really putting over Shawn hard here, and it's a time when WCW is starting, just before they had a 2 year old on the ratings, Vince could feel the heat, so he was probably trying to get Shawn over AMAP, ASAP. That his 2 buddies left town probably goes against what Bret is saying here more than anything. Hall and Nash were out for money, not simply gold. Whether Shawn wanted to work with his friends or not, they were gone.

    Brett still doesn't understand the Kip formation wasn't about belts or pre-determined matches, it was about pushing for. changes in the whole wrestling salary structure. Wrestlers in the mid-1990s were still making peanuts compared to the value and revenue they were bringing in. The only one to the exception was Hogan. Hart is salty because Vince played him, he wrestled for less than he was supposed to get to market value, he did that just to be loyal to Vince, and then McMahon still screwed him.
    Scott Hall went to Vince many times asking for a raise but he didn't have leverage because the hitman worked for cheap. Hall decided to explore his options then WCW entered the picture and he got the salary he wanted in the first place. Nash then heard about this and jumped ship. I still chuckle at Brett's comments he thinks what he did was Olympic wrestling or the real stuff. The two guys Vince brushed off and ignored their salary demands played a significant role in WCW's rise and almost put Vince out of business.

      @crash777burn 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@mikeg2491You are correct about half of tbe kliq leaving for WCW for the money. The belts were still important though to have. Bret said it himself, the champion and his opponent got paid equally or fairly close. If Shawn is champion, and he wrestles Scott Hall then both get that pay. Before the guaranteed contracts, that would be big. They could wrestle together, and cycle through each other. Hogan did that with many wrestlers with the exception of losing the title.
      The problem was while business was never Hogan level at the time, Bret drew more $$$ for the company at that time than Shawn, HHH, Hall, and Nash; especially, outside the states. It's why he kept getting the belt back. Not until Hall and Nash left for WCW did they get the high paydays. Then the NWO angle exploded, and they really started drawing houses. Ironically, they were paired with Hogan. HHH became the big draw during the attitude era by being the guy who could feud with Austin, Rock, and Foley

But then he was able to train bc they were only putting him in triple threat matches where he could rest. Well did they want to make you tired or let you rest?

    I really thought this guy moved on.
    Does he realize how bitter he sounds? It made no sense for Shawn to tell Bret Hart what he was going to do after he wins the title. Most likely he didn't tell him he was going to wrestle only his buddies because that's not what happened. Also considering that Shawn at the very worst is top 3 performer of all time and possibly the very best. His win loss record was never that important to Shawn or the rest of the Kliq. It was about making more money. Scott Hall was very open about it. Money was the reason Hall and Nash left to WCW. They realized early that you more often than not come out looking better putting someone else over. Fans are not stupid.
    Shawn was suppose to go over Kurt Angle after weeks of getting humiliated by Angle who would then get his comeuppance but Shawn thought Angle should go over because he was younger.
    Shawn still looked great working with Kurt Angle even though he was on the losing end.
    Also Shawn Michaels was called MR WrestleMania even though he had a losing record in WrestleMania.
    I wonder if Bret will ever realize how silly he was being so concerned with winning matches. I think Bret looked the best when he put his brother Owen over. Which brings me to the last point. Nothing wrong with working with your friends when you know you have a better chance to have a great match and not get hurt. I remember Bret wrestling his family and friends just as much as Shawn worked with his friends.
    I think deep down Bret Hart wishes he had more programs with Shawn Michaels, which never happened because Bret insisted on not just beating HBK but breaking his leg and giving him the middle finger. Not surprisingly Shawn decided to go in a different direction.

    Been a Bret Hart fan all my life but they say the best characters are extensions of themselves. Remember his character when he whined and complained always getting screwed in 97? I guess that is the real him. Let things go already, its embarrassing now. You complain too much and had a career many would want to have.

      The funniest thing to me a few years back when Vice did the Dark Side special on Owen's death, they discussed how Martha still refuses to allow WWE to induct Owen into the HOF and Bret did some editorial on how it was time to move on so Owen could get his due. Now obviously I'm not disagreeing with Owen being in the HOF, but having Bret Hart lecture on letting go of the past is the ultimate pot calling the kettle black moment.

    • @EGarrett01
      @EGarrett01 11 месяцев назад +1

      It's not a good match. There was no storyline to it except both of them refusing to drop the first fall so they just did spots and worked body parts for an hour. The ones with Bulldog in 92 and Austin in 97 were five-star matches and far better.

      @EGarrett01 11 месяцев назад

      @BourgProductions Bret vs. Stone Cold probably started the Attitude Era. That's true. And the double-turn was so perfect and unique. It might be the best match. I should say also though that Bret vs. Bulldog was the match that convinced Vince McMahon to try wrestling as his top draw instead of just size and muscles. It was the main event over Warrior vs. Savage and the British crowd loved it.

Does it really matter if you lose to somebody in the ring it’s predetermined it’s not like it’s a real fight and I’ve been a fan of wrestling most of my life. As I saw it back then and to this day, I still feel the same way, that Bret was booked to be a weak champion during his 3rd reign. All while Shawn was made to look like this amazing Adonis with Vince McMahon figuratively sucking him off on commentary; it's no wonder the fans would turn on HBK during his reign.
    Bret should have been booked strong as a champion so that Shawn winning the title isn't perceived as a foregone conclusion.

      1.He went over on Bulldog avenging his loss at Wembley
      2. Ended Diesel's year long reign ....something Shawn failed to do previously
      3. Ended Goldust's undefeated streak the day after Goldust beat Razor
      4. Beat the guy who spent more time in the 96 Rumble match than anyone else clean with the sharpshooter.
      Sure had Shawn looking real strong going into mania didn't they? I mean, wins over tag team guys and guys that Bret already beat lol. What a killer. Lmao
