@@Bazgti250 I'm picking up a 2013 Golf R this month. I currently own an Autobahn Edition 2012 GTI with a DSG and a k04. Going to have to make a decision if I'm going to keep the GTI or not this next year once I really spend some time with the R.
@@JustinStrife 1st stop is remap! I had APR on mine. Unleashing those extra horses makes all the difference. Mime was stage 2 + in the end and was a match for most things on the road. Excellent car. Enjoy it mate.
@@Bazgti250 My GTI has an APR k04, Tune, FMIC and DSG Tune and it rips. Planning on going stage 2 with the R right away. Wish we got the DSG here in the states with the 6R and debating whether it's worth finding a shop to swap one in to replace the stick. If you had both cars, would you try and keep them, or sell the GTI?
@@JustinStrife THe DSG is a game changer. The 6R was my 1st, and then both RS3s I've had have obviously been S tronic too. Once you own a DSG, you won't want a manual again. They're just so much easier to own. The purists wouldn't agree though. I can imagine it'd cost to get a DSG box to the US, but if you had the money, do it! There won't be many over there that have done the conversion. Depends on your budget. Driving in the UK is expensive. We have road tax, fuel and insurance to contend with begore maintenance. I couldn't run both. Il throw it out there and say that once you drive the R, the GTI won't get a look in. As good as a GTI is, the R just does everything better.
also as for APR tune for the MK6R it demands max boost at all rev range and has a very sharp TQ curve as well my DG250 in my MK6R also has some slip from just running APR stage 1 ECU and APR TCU, just from the aggressiveness of the tunes its also why i steer clear of APR now.
Build has come a long way Brando! You now at the infamous TFSI smoking section where everyone will criticize you. I would recommend the Dynodrome Stage 1 injectors. Great for 600HP and perfect for daily. Do not get the Stage 2 ones. You will be able to tune them right for the strip and although they are rated for 800HP, your car will smoke like a train as a daily. I can imagine with the emissions laws you guys have there that it could become a problem.
@@richiebtime489 Agreed , its safer to run rich rather than lean but its then going to use more fuel than it needs to . It could do with setting up a little better and leaning off a tad to reduce the smoke in my opinion .
@@markevo6 Yep, I would also agree with that. It doesn't need to fuel 'that' much.....With the bit of turbo tuning I've done, meth/water injection isn't all it's cracked up to be as water isn't compressible and just increases in cylinder pressures?
These PQ35 platform golfs are soo expensive to get to this level of performance compared to the MQB platform, this EA113 engine needs to bee fully build to get there, on a EA888 gen3 your doing that power on stock block. Still great build, and very nice performance.👍And yes people these engines smoke, they don't have port injection like the newer engines only direct injection on these.
Smokes because of the spray pattern on the rs3 injectors and pcv delete. Ea113 can do 500bhp. The reason most don't is high egt hybrids, more miles, years of weathering piston rings (main culprit of failure) and early torque spikes. Other failures are maintenance related. Personally I don't think the ea888 will hold up as well due to widespread lease deals and poor maintenance. Granted its a better engine in some parts but has silly design implementation in other. I also think the older ea113 based cars is a much more rawer experience allowing for a more engaged drive. My friend has a 550bhp golf r and it was just soulless, the experience is so insulated that 120mph feels like 40 😂 very capable cars but you have to be going crazy speeds to get any sort of buzz. My edition 30 is running 530bhp and it's just savage, the feedback and experience is similar to my evo 5. Plus my eddy weighs 1280kg and is only clubsport spec it absolutely tanks his car in races.
@@MikelDog So essentially you'd want a built ea113 because of their age now. Expensive but might as well if you're after big power. Otherwise just do an OEM k04 upgrade with associated OEM upgrades (S3 FMIC, S3 injectors, S3 HPFP, RS4 FPRV) and call it a day. I love my ea113 and I'm bone stock lol

that 270hp was at crank/flywheel not wheels.. i think if i am correct they came here in AUS at 188KW at the crank and would dyno around 145KW at the wheels.. so you would be lucky to make say 210hp at the wheels stock in the UK.. if this is 540hp at the wheels you are making well over double its power.

Im running stock injectors on my 6r and use straight meth as a power adder to keep things afe and to also help keep the carbon build up at bay! I did want to run a IE manifold and ustilse the stock injectors as well as a big set top mount for my fuelling, but found out quite quickly that to run 8 injectors on a mk6 r is bloody expensive! Seeing as how popular they are there has to be an ecu out there in the poor mans range that i can afford to run a proper setup. Making 357awk at present at 32psi. Had it at 380 at one stage but as the meth is being used as an power adder, it was tuned down to a safer level. Tbh honest i only use about 2-4 liters of meth per tank as it only turns on at about 15psi. So everyday driving it lasts for ages, but if you get a heavy foot my G25-660 will suck that meth down like a crack head!
