Every time there’s a story about an HOA I always feel so bad. I live in an HOA - we pay $25 a year and the money gets used to throw neighborhood parties (Easter Egg hunt, Summer BBQ, and candy grab Hayride instead of trick or treating) for all the kids. HOAs COULD be something great, but they get run by people on power trips and it’s really unfortunate.
The idea of an HOA is good, but you get people who are power hungry aholes who forget that an HOA is to keep the neighborhood in shape and to try and bring everyone together for events like you state. The fines should be extremely lenient for the rules broken as in strike one on day 1 fix the rule broken soon otherwise there will be a fine.
Not all of them. Not all HOAs are evil because their not all the same, my grandpa was a board member when he lived in HOA before he retired, and he was a down to earth people person, he'd recruit young volunteers during the summer to keep the street and sidewalks clean, even went above and beyond by offering both bottles of water and sun block, he'd invite naybers to a barbecue in his back yard, and called out other board members that tried to use the HOA funds maliciously
Honestly an HOA is not far from a Soviet, and if you look into these things' history before Russia became communist they were great. They're similar as they're both attempts at creating local government, organization and community but most of them ended up going power hungry
Right? My parents' HOA is adorable and runs little events throughout the year (Get *Sporked* is a community favorite, lol) but also uses the money to maintain the streets and coming spaces so they're actually in better condition than the rest of the town. Their "rules" are pretty chill, too; basically respect the town ordinances, please check with us before trying to paint your house like an Easter egg, and please try to keep your yard nicer than "abandoned," (exaggerations, but still).
I think it was a pure power play. And in the end, he respected the salesman for just standing his ground. Even though the customer was acting like a manchild.

Having the HOA president also be the treasurer without any oversight is CRAZY. That story is exactly why my HOA doesn't allow that kind of thing (I'm 40m and the treasurer of our HOA).
HOA: OP should have reported any and all city ordinance issues to the city so that Todd would have to get them fixed (near the end when he wouldn't have access to HOA money) and made sure that realtors knew of the violations so that Todd would have to get them fixed before he could sell his house. Poor Todd would have been digging himself into debt to try to move out, and the new board could have fined Todd for HOA violations enough that they could have put a lien on his house (after the fixes were made). Todd would be struggling to not lose his house. 😈
As a Canadian who lives in a province that HOA are not legal the amount of control freedom loving Americans give to these people who run these HOAs is mind-blowing.
@stephenfrank7156 well, I think some Americans prefer the illusion of freedom and not actual freedom. Where it's freedom for everyone, not just a certain set of the population.
Their propaganda machine convinces them they have great freedoms whereas the reality many other countries out perform the US on the freedom scale, including Canada.
I live in a trailer park as annoying as it can be an HOA is good for handling disputes and background checks. If they weren't here this place would eventually look like a dump like almost all trailer parks eventually do. If you have fencing you don't need a HOA.
I would just call the PI on Todd, then the IRS, report him to the city, and request an audit from the state HOA board of the funds in the neighborhood.
@michaeltelson9798 I was hoped that yeah they would The class action lawsuit would have probably been either having to face jail time or reimbursement.
Second story: wow, that ending is hilarious. “He charged me extra!“ “Really? Why?“ “He called it an asshole tax!“ “Seriously!? Damn, I gotta buy from this guy, he’s totally got you pegged!“ “Yeah, I-! Wait, what?”
HOA: at 2:10, the part about high HOA fees... OP writes that they're much higher than in similar neighborhoods. Dabney reads "smaller neighborhoods." 🤣
HOA: Never, and I mean NEVER give the job of financial decisions to the financial recorder. Treasurers and bookkeepers are separate for a GOOD reason. Same for churches, same for any entity that handles money.
We have a HOA but we're very lucky. Theyre very chill and lenient. As long as those in our neighborhood dont do crazy things we dont hear from them at all. It's awesome.
Absolutely! I hate seeing people mistreat workers, no matter the industry. I go out of my way to try and make things easier for different employees. I stack my dishes and wipe my table at restaurants. I make sure my items are ready and payment prepared at stores. I put items back that I either don't need or can't afford. I always try and give a smile and a happy, but short convo to whoever is helping me. It's the polite thing to do.
S1:This is yet another reason while I'll never live in hoa, they go on so many power trips. Of course another hoa president getting caught using the hoa budget as their own piggy bank, I'm just OP was strong enough and called out his stealing from the hoa. Karma came and it was sweet. S2: Seriously they put the safety of a baby just so they can get a truck no matter what. These are some of the worst types to deal with. I think they have tried to pull this type of stunt before in order to get free or reduce price of stuff, i would have snapped at them. No RUclips nothing hateful was said
HOA’s, which I don’t live in, could and THATS A GIANT HEAVY COULD be a potential positive thing, but with how much HOA can EASILY GO DOWN THE TOILET, with just one dishonest person. This is like we need people to double check the people in charge.
10:12 🤣🤣🤣 Why are they invested in diving under the bus with this Hotheaded Scheme?? Automobile Dealers are NOT Public Forums. They can reserve the right to refuse service to any and all customers, for any reason.
There are a few situations when they can be beneficial but that’s only when they serve an actual /purpose/ for example in my neighborhood there’s a community pool run by an HOA where there are reasonably low fees each year that go directly to paying for the pool and its maintenance. If you’re on the board your fees are covered as long as you’re actually doing your job and volunteering (such as helping plan and close the pool each day) can lower your dues. If you pay your dues you get a key each summer to use the pool and the HOA doesn’t bother with anything else.
It’s weird how If you’re poor or a member of certain minority groups and steal something like food from a store you go to prison but if you steal thousands even millions from your customers or employees ect meh 👮🏻♀️🤷
The ahole tax story is freakin fabulous. Especially his friends buying from OP because they knew he was an ahole. Like they respected OP for finally telling him.
Car salesmen story: I believe that "don't care if your baby lives or not" as while working at a grocery store during covid, I was told that everyone dies one day or another when I told someone to wear a mask cause my mother was at risk and I lived with her
Story 1 - OP was telling this story as if it was some grandmaster strategy to defeat Todd when he could have simply hired a lawyer from the start and got them to get all the records.
First of all, mistakes do happen, and that's why on my dealership website, there is a section of fine print saying that the prices might not be accurate. There was a time that the vehicle online show that it was for a 10th of the price of the actual vehicle, a number was missed, and when it wasn't double-checked, so it was a whole decimal place off of where it should have been. I had this annoying person come in to buy that vehicle, they apparently drove from 40 minutes to like an hour and a half away, it's been a while, so I don't remember exactly, but they took a screenshot of the post, probably because I know it was a mistake and didn't want it to be taken down before they got their, and threaten all kinds of legal crap to get the vehicle, when we don't need a reason not to sell it to them, especially when it was obviously a mistake, and I wanted to say that if that was actually the price of the vehicle, it would have been bought before we had a single customer come to the lot, because one of us would have bought it because we could sell it the same day for a massive profit. Since they were making such a big fuss, I just love my management deal with it, who politely then not so politely told them to screw off, they were being unreasonable, they were just flat out in the wrong, and since we don't have any cars for a 2300 because why would we, especially a 2020 or newer vehicle, and we didn't want to deal with that.
Car dealership story is old. Maybe several years old. And since I don't read reddit myself and blacklisted ALL other reddit readers from youtube recommendations - I've definitely heard it here. Happens occasionally
That couple who was hostile and rude to the car salesman deserved all they got. Imagine being so self-entitled that you think treating others like crap is the done thing to do. I tend to treat sales people, cashiers, and service industry staff with respect because they often go out of their way to reciprocate your politeness with excellent service. Plus, your politeness might possibly make their day because the sales and service industry often have to deal with rude halfwits on a daily basis.
Story 2: Suddenly A-Hole Tax. Sounds like that man didn't learn to not talk down and gravely insult employees that day, but who knows perhaps someone will give him a. reality check. By the way, you NEVER make that kind of comment about someone’s child
Last story: if they made a mistake, aren't they liable by law for that mistake and have to keep the deal? Many years ago in my country a very known store made a mistake in their web page and all their product's price shifted two decimals, so iphones were listed as $15 instead of $1500 (can't remember the exact price) and people went wild and started buying online. At the end the store had to sell all items at the price shown in the webpage, by law.
The key difference is the words, in your story the site had the listing prices mixed. This story has the wrong picture, but the correct listing numbers and description for the vehicle it actually is for. The picture would not be enough if the listing is for a different item. Legal gets really touchy about words over pictures
Unrelated…. I was curious and I put on the Hot Frosty trailer from the other day and my wife and I thought, “That looks terrible”. When I was leaving for work this morning the wife and dog moved to cuddle on the couch so I put Hot Frosty on and took the batteries out of the remote. Joke’s on me because she loved the movie and we watched it this evening. It was okay. She’s seen it twice now.
Story 1: I’m genuinely curious about something: what is the point of an HOA…? Like seriously how do they help in anyway? All i have ever heard is horror stories about them.
it’s used to keep order in the community and for safety like if there’s crime near the community or if the community is big and hosts events there will be a HOA most HOA’s are not that bad I used to live in one and it was fine
In theory, an HOA *could* just be neighbors helping out neighbors. In practice, it's just a legal version of redlining to keep poor (and usually non-white) residents out of the neighborhood.
In some areas, they keep corporations from buying homes and jacking up the renting price, because they insist that the owner have at least partial residency in the home.
Man, I bought a car in 2022 and in all the test drives and walkthroughs, I practically had to come bearing a katana and throwing stars just to get of a dealership without buying. I know it was kind of a tough year for cars in general, both buying and selling, but that’s how dealerships usually are. How bad do you have to screw up to get THROWN OUT of a dealership? Well, I guess the key is to be so offensive that you might actually be found at fault if the dealer punched you in the face. Pretty sure that came close to the level of “fighting words.”
Its crazy how much markup is on cars and how little salesmen make these days. No wonder there are so many dealerships, owning one seems like printing money since you dont pay your employees unless they make you money that day
Second story: OP it better then me, I would probably had swing on the husband when he said he don't care if my baby live or died but OP try keep his job and not get sue and I did like that the desk manager was mad at OP but once OP told what the husband said, he immediately was on OP side and when the husband came bac, OP stop play nice to him and show him the price higher, the husband should kept his mouth shut and brought the car the price OP gave him
Don't most scam cars sale places do this? The truck isn't here. It was sold yesterday or this morning. The truck pictured for less is wrong. It was a mistake in the listing. I phoned a dealership to ask if they had a specific truck. They said they had it. Great, I'll drive down. 2 hours later, I arrive to find they never had that truck, but how about a new, more expensive F350. No! And we drove home. Another dealership. We'd like to have you bring in this vehicle so I can buy it. Sure, but why don't I show you this more expensive vehicle. You'll love it more. No, I've done the research and want this vehicle. We'll Miss, I don't think you want that. We leave. Talk to another salesman in the same store a few days later. He has 2 available, i pick the one i want, and he brings it in. When we leave, the original salesman sees us and asks if we're back to buy the more expensive truck. Nope. Do we need help. Nope. I've already bought the exact truck I wanted. And it took a half hour total. No extra this or that. I showed him the specs I wanted and that was it. I hate getting jerked around at a dealership.
I would say the same, but Volvo doesn’t even currently make/sell pickup trucks. Maybe the writer didn’t do his research when he chose a random “competing” brand for his story.
Bro...I hate the vids where there is no commentary. I didn't listen to rslash at that point reacting. I listened to two stories and had my reaction and thats it. I know usually people come here for just stories but I like rslash's input. Without it? it feels kind of souless.

I'm beginning to realize we don't love freedom as much as we might say we do. 🤦♂️
@stephenfrank7156 well, I think some Americans prefer the illusion of freedom and not actual freedom. Where it's freedom for everyone, not just a certain set of the population.
Yea really
Their propaganda machine convinces them they have great freedoms whereas the reality many other countries out perform the US on the freedom scale, including Canada.
@@stephenfrank7156 Well, we did just elect a president who said that he would be a dictator.
Story 2: "But why is it higher than before?!" "Butthole tax." AAAHHHH!!!! XD Would of loved to do this to some customers in my past
My dad sold cars for years, and that story was chef's kiss perfect
I'm yet to hear a single beneficial thing about Home Owner's Associations.
I live in a trailer park as annoying as it can be an HOA is good for handling disputes and background checks. If they weren't here this place would eventually look like a dump like almost all trailer parks eventually do. If you have fencing you don't need a HOA.
Same
I would just call the PI on Todd, then the IRS, report him to the city, and request an audit from the state HOA board of the funds in the neighborhood.
I just wondered how Tod escaped a felony conviction and jail time.
@michaeltelson9798 I was hoped that yeah they would The class action lawsuit would have probably been either having to face jail time or reimbursement.
Second story: wow, that ending is hilarious.
“He charged me extra!“
“Really? Why?“
“He called it an asshole tax!“
“Seriously!? Damn, I gotta buy from this guy, he’s totally got you pegged!“
“Yeah, I-! Wait, what?”
HOA: at 2:10, the part about high HOA fees...
OP writes that they're much higher than in similar neighborhoods.
Dabney reads "smaller neighborhoods." 🤣
Yeah, he tends to misread stuff. xD
@@ItBePatYo Yeah, and I tend to make a comment when he does. 😁
6:34 Hahaha, I love that! “Plated, GARNISHED and savored” 😂
I understand wanting a good deal on a vehicle but acting like a jerk is not a good way to do it.
especially if you talk shit about someone's child
that's a good way to lose some teeth
HOA: Never, and I mean NEVER give the job of financial decisions to the financial recorder.
Treasurers and bookkeepers are separate for a GOOD reason. Same for churches, same for any entity that handles money.
We have a HOA but we're very lucky. Theyre very chill and lenient. As long as those in our neighborhood dont do crazy things we dont hear from them at all. It's awesome.
Every company should offer a A-Hole tax.
Good for OP for not tolerating that from the customers. Abuse is not part of the job.
Down with HOAs!
6:50 🎵Yabadabado the king is gone, and so are you
S1:This is yet another reason while I'll never live in hoa, they go on so many power trips. No RUclips nothing hateful was said
People are stupid
that last story - i love a happy ending.
Yea
HOA’s, which I don’t live in, could and THATS A GIANT HEAVY COULD be a potential positive thing, but with how much HOA can EASILY GO DOWN THE TOILET, with just one dishonest person. This is like we need people to double check the people in charge.
Yep
10:12 🤣🤣🤣 Why are they invested in diving under the bus with this Hotheaded Scheme?? Automobile Dealers are NOT Public Forums. They can reserve the right to refuse service to any and all customers, for any reason.
I'm not naming the company I worked for but we called it twat tax.
Story 1 is absolutely a NuclearRevenge moment
I have literally never heard a story of an HOA that wasn't corrupt.
Yea really. HOAs are dumb
Is it wrong to love the car sales story? Because I LOVE the car sales story!
Todd was like "Stealing money? It just works!"
I really want more HOA and crazy neighbour stories
It’s weird how If you’re poor or a member of certain minority groups and steal something like food from a store you go to prison but if you steal thousands even millions from your customers or employees ect meh 👮🏻♀️🤷
R/Slash: People started reading, whispering then shouting
YT AD: the only other thing popular then me is Wild deodorant 😂
I just *_love_* prorevenge! [grabs snack and drink]
I'm listening to this while I'm Student Directing a play!!! I need my daily rSlash
Bro is becoming an IPad kid. Damn
The ahole tax story is freakin fabulous. Especially his friends buying from OP because they knew he was an ahole. Like they respected OP for finally telling him.
“Evil HOA?”
Is there any other kind?
13:49 Those people were scumbags.
Also yay Desk whiskey?
God I hate HOA's
Perfect reason why no one should EVER live within an HOA.
We need more tree law
Car salesmen story: I believe that "don't care if your baby lives or not" as while working at a grocery store during covid, I was told that everyone dies one day or another when I told someone to wear a mask cause my mother was at risk and I lived with her
Story 1 - OP was telling this story as if it was some grandmaster strategy to defeat Todd when he could have simply hired a lawyer from the start and got them to get all the records.
I will NEVER move into a neighborhood with an HOA.
I hate car salesmen. They are crooks too.
I could never understand how HOAs get away with fines. The common areas are their ONLY responsibility.
where can I get a 30k king ranch lol
Story1: as a non American I’m always shocked who much time, money and effort it takes to take down an HOA dictator…
Story 2: Bro legit played stupid games and won a giant stupid prize.
story 1: The HOA don't have the power they think they do.
Story 2: Suddenly A-Hole Tax. Sounds like that man didn't learn to not talk down and gravely insult employees that day, but who knows perhaps someone will give him a. reality check.
By the way, you NEVER make that kind of comment about someone’s child
Yea
lol I have never seen or heard of a single good HOA, why do they still exist?
@mikiliwilliams You have a good point in there.
I lost it at the "a-hole tax" lol
Anyone else feel like there is never a non evil HOA?
HOAs are the worst thing ever invented. 😂😂😂
A lovely start to another good morning!
Hope everyone’s doing well on this fine January day.
And to you. It's midnight here and a lovely, cool night.
Same to you, it's late afternoon where I am
Wow, such fun time zones! Love that rSlash posts so consistently, as I think it unites us all through it being a fun little routine. :)
@TheChaosOfBlank Indeedy, he does! Praise Dabney!
i miss reddit prorevenge stories that there isnt enough ;~;
Story 1: I’m genuinely curious about something: what is the point of an HOA…?
Like seriously how do they help in anyway? All i have ever heard is horror stories about them.
A properly run HOA pays for shit like sidewalks, snow removal, and the maintenance of common areas like pools and parks.
it’s used to keep order in the community and for safety like if there’s crime near the community or if the community is big and hosts events there will be a HOA most HOA’s are not that bad I used to live in one and it was fine
In theory, an HOA *could* just be neighbors helping out neighbors. In practice, it's just a legal version of redlining to keep poor (and usually non-white) residents out of the neighborhood.
it's basically communism with extra steps and a bunch of red tape.
Works in theory, but not in practice.
So when friends and family don't care about children it's justified, when strangers do it THEN it's horivle.
Its crazy how much markup is on cars and how little salesmen make these days. No wonder there are so many dealerships, owning one seems like printing money since you dont pay your employees unless they make you money that day
Imagine being such a jerk that you are basically getting donations because they're glad you shut him down.
I hope that everyone is having a good Thursday!
That last story Rslash done already
Second story: OP it better then me, I would probably had swing on the husband when he said he don't care if my baby live or died but OP try keep his job and not get sue and I did like that the desk manager was mad at OP but once OP told what the husband said, he immediately was on OP side and when the husband came bac, OP stop play nice to him and show him the price higher, the husband should kept his mouth shut and brought the car the price OP gave him
I don't know if hoas exist here in new Zealand, but if they do then I think they're heavily monitored
I hate HOA’s
I think most people do
you have to imagine how op 2 would've reacted if he wasn't at his job when that douche said what he said
Don't most scam cars sale places do this?
Morning everyone ❤
Morning from Alaska
I might be going crazy - but I feel like I already heard the first story on this channel before ?
All that over a ford lmao
Me: Then buy a Volvo
I was thinking that too
I would say the same, but Volvo doesn’t even currently make/sell pickup trucks. Maybe the writer didn’t do his research when he chose a random “competing” brand for his story.
Why wasn't Todd in prison?
First story is fake
i might be making things up but i thought you read story 1 before
Has anyone seen the lotion man update??
Lol, the last story had the funniest ending, when the complaining Mr. Butthole ended up promoting OP. :'D
Satisfying justice for my birthday? Yes, please!
talk like that about any parents kid and you are DONE!!
under a minute is crazyyyy
Bro...I hate the vids where there is no commentary. I didn't listen to rslash at that point reacting. I listened to two stories and had my reaction and thats it. I know usually people come here for just stories but I like rslash's input. Without it? it feels kind of souless.
In story one, op saved himself and the rest of the people from a mini Trump in training.
Story 2 butt hole tax, lol. That's perfect.
Morning all 🎉🎉❤🎉❤
Good evening
Ooo more hoa
PERSONA
I hate HOAs and I'm not scared of hoas
Good morning everyone!!!
