Data brokers are the least of my worry when it comes to data security. Can they prevent your data being leaked from your health insurer? No. Can they remove the data from the dark web? No. As a person focusing on scams you should have some principles.

I really love that stores are beginning to put up warnings about scams. I recall one store chain, possibly in Japan, but could be in USA too, where they put up fake gift cards so that the elderly would take those, and the cashier knows to intercept the customer before anything bad can happen.

Not kidding when you say it's one of the oldest in the book. It's just sad that it's still effective enough to run.
Used to do resale from Storage Unit Auctions about 12 years ago and had this happen. The funny part was the guy was so bad at it, I spotted the scam instantly. Mother used to work in a bank so I know all the security tags to look for on a check these days, allowing me to see the check was a super-bad fake.
The best part was a guy in "Florida" wanted to buy an item, and ship it to him in California. Check came from an address in NYC and had the name of a company in Arizona on it. I'm in South Carolina. Just awful handling from start to finish. I notified the company in AZ about it and offered the check to them for criminal evidence but they declined. Back then, scammers didn't know emails could be sourced via the header, so I was able to quickly find he was from Nigeria, not Florida. So I just spent the next 3 days messing with the guy and calling him out before he finally gave up.
Edit to add: You should have that Money Order framed and hang it in the studio.

I hate these scammer with a passion. They got my 92 yr old father for thousands before we came home and stopped it. They made it sound like something was wrong with his granddaughter. Her was so upset because she lived on an army base at the time. My father was so embarrassed. I wish I could get in a room with them for 10 minutes. I HATE THEM!!

The whole death thing and the drama is the oldest thing in the book. My family company went through that last summer. What was really messed up, they gave us an email that was like “Christ has risen” with this women on the phone who ordered the service who kept complementing me. Once the card declined for the first service then the death thing came in and I cancelled it, luckily 😅

@Denvermorgan2000 Typically, the money mules get to keep some of the money. They most likely receive the money order, cash it, keep some of it, use a Bitcoin ATM to deposit the rest into a Bitcoin account.

Sir, you are one of the best. I've been thinking of scambaiting over RUclips myself, and I must say, you are one GREAT inspiration. In many ways, like Jim Browning, you have a total edge over the likes of Kitboga, Scammer Payback (Pierogi), and IRLRosie (don't get me wrong .. LOVE all those guys!!). What you do best is explain everything in absolute detail, every step of the way. This has probably benefitted (and ultimately, saved) many vulnerable senior citizens especially. Fantastic work sir.
I really enjoyed this one. 💯

7:10 "If you believe you may be a victim of a scam..." The messaging needs to change, to show examples of scams. Because why would you believe you're a victim of a scam if you have no idea what scams look like? Everyone should like to a website that exemplifies common scams, at the very least. And scam examples should be regularly shown in a rotation on screen.

Stores also need to stop putting it in super tiny writing on small signs at the gift cards. Who do you think is most unable to quickly read super tiny writing on a barely visible sign? Like I appreciate there's even messaging there at all in the first place, but please make it clear and impossible to miss.
