Amazing review compared to others man! Most reviewers wake up at 6AM and record 4K footage along with doing 18 other things they would never do with their phones. This one is plain and simple

Exactly I watched one guy who did a "real day in the life" and took the viewers on a tour of his city and to the zoo and stuff which isn't at all a real day in the life for anyone I don't care who you are. That's not an average day.

This was a great video (no need for fancy editing to give good info), would love to see an update (6months later). respect for using the phone at it's full capabilities. ps I also stopped playing and started watching tournaments now.
Great video. I have a P8P I'm getting the same battery life. Coming from a P7P I think it's a great upgrade. I'm also on team no case so I just use a magsafe sticker for the car and nightstand charger.
I've been thinking about getting a Pixel for GrapheneOS, and saw that you had a terrible time with the Pixel 7 (on launch ofc) so I'm glad to see the Pixel 8 turning out great this year, might end up getting it.
It's a solid advice. From others it seems that Android 14 has made he Pixel 7 Pro feel like a new phone.
If you're putting another OS on, focus more on the hardware specs. And similar to what Dayo said about new phones needing some time, it sounds like the Graphene team are getting used to the 8 Pro. Either wait if you really prefer the hardware or save some money.

Phone makers need to step their game up with this battery capacity problem because certain new features will drain the battery like the "always on" feature. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾 I saw some low end budget phones possessing an impressive 6120 mAh battery capacity. Higher end phone makers need to step their game up.
FULL agree! There's no excuse for high-end phones to suggest turning of AOD and high refresh rates when phones costing half or a third of the price get double the battery life with those features on.

Great vid! Been using the pixel 8 pro for about 1 month now. Swapped from my iphone 14 pro and never been more proud of a decision in my life. It was basically a screen size upgrade, battery upgrade and software support upgrade for a simple trade in, so a really good deal already. The best thing about the phone is simply how amazing the software and ai features are, moved to a different country so all the translate features are saving me!
Overall worth the upgrade just for the screen size alone already. Wouldn't really recommend any iphones anymore unless you get the max if you're someone who cares about watching content on your phone. The smaller iphone combined with the huge dynamic island just wasn't worth it imo

Loved the video. Your hours are insane man! Im a junior developer about 1.5 years in, what's a piece of advice you'd give your past self at this point in his career?
Read documentation from whatever library/language you are using. Googling then copying & pasting works in the short term, but its better to understand fundamentally what is going on based off what you read from StackOverflow or source's documentation.
Before immediately reaching out to senior engineer when you don't get something, try some stuff out first. Im saying this as a senior because I notice it becomes a habit for some people to just ask the senior how to do this or what to do, when some googling or trial & error would have solved the issue and also give the jr more experience long term on actual problem solving skills. Basically, feel free to ask questions, but come with attempted solutions/options first.
Tinker around with stuff and work on side projects. Doesn't have to be a full blown application, but just mess around with tools you use at work on your own to get a better understanding.
Even if it's 10 minutes, just read/look at articles tech related. It's good to be in the know.

Appreciate the day in the life. I have a 7 pro and fairly happy since Android 14. I'd be interested to see your review on a revisited 6 pro or 7 pro. I might end up going back to Samsung if the snapdragon 8 gen 3 ends up being even more amazing.

How in the world did you get that battery life? I've gone through 3 pixel 8 pros with different issues, and none of them had that type of battery life.
That car adapter detail is huge! Thank you for including that, that is a deal breaker for me.
You can move it up a bit, or search for lower gripping car adapters. It is a bit annoying though.
Just buy a different adapter, it's a cheap, meaningless thing. Definitely not a deal breaker.

What do you mean fumbled? The Pixel 7 was phone of the year last year 😂 I own the 6 and still to this day the connection issues are abysmal...
@@mrfrench821 It gets crap all the time from the Pixel forums. Mostly due to battery life. I've never used it. My 6 is great.
The main complaints were battery life from what Ive seen on Reddit. But I also think a lot of these users buy a pixel and don't give it the time it needs to optimize the battery life.
Stock andriod is amazing and so is one ui home you can't go wrong with pixel or samsung
Came back to watch this after the 7 Pro fiasco haha. I really hope that Google doesn't deliver the same experience you had with the 7pro before, because I got this phone already over the 15 pro (I hate iOS but it was a gift)

The Porcelain looked almost gold or beige in the photos on Googles site, but it looks like almost pure white in your video. What does it look like in person in your opinion?
I'll be honest I do enjoy the button placement. Enjoying the pixel 8 pro experience. Switched from 21 Ultra. Always wanted a pixel since 6 seems that I came in on a good time. (11 dollars for paper towels what the hell)

Howdy! I've had my Pixel 8 Pro for 2 days now and so far, I'm Loving It!! The only game I play on my phone is Solitaire, so I don't care about gaming apps. Only app that crashes under Android 14 is .... Facebook! LOL Well, I wanted to limit my social media use, so I guess I will only use FB on my desktop computer! Transitioning from my old Samsung Galaxy A72 phone to Pixel 8 Pro was seamless (thanks Xfinity Store). Only issue I'm having now -- and the reason WHY I wanted a Pixel phone -- the Magic Eraser doesn't work. Ugh! I'll reach out to Google Support later but wondering if it wasn't installed completely.

The app not working could be an issue with the app itself. Developers have to keep their apps up to date with new versions of Android.

My pixel 8 pro is warm all the time. Iz hate a warm phone. Makes me not want to use the device. So I turned of everything that I could think of. I mean everything. Download a task killer app to stop apps running in the background. And it still gets warm at stays warm. Unless I don't use the phone at all. Then there is small little lag annoyances. Like buffer wheels and apps not responding to my touch. I have to close a app or restart the phone at least twice a day. I forgot all about buffer wheels until I started using the pixel.

I think your review is dead on from my experience as well. My car mount was able to adjust the height so I was able to fix the volume issue that way.

Honestly back in the time when pixels had always on display that showed only by tapping. Now they removed the feature 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️

So much cpu throttling and lags in some of my favorite games, I preferred using S23 ultra

had the worst experience with this overated ass phone. returned it within 1.5 weeks and got the s23 ultra for £750. way better phone
As much as I've had an enjoyable experience with the Pixel 8 Pro and think the camera is exceptional, still think the S23 Ultra is the king of Android still at least here in the States
@@DayoAworunse absolutely agree. I believe the pixel 8 is a much better value/ bang for buck than the 8 pro. It's almost the same phone but with some features locked by software. Other than the the only real difference is camera hardware
