I actually like the camera bar for two reasons I think It actually looks great and if you don't have a case on your phone and you place it down on your desk or something it doesn't wobble when you're texting.

Fair point - but it seems like an odd thing to let happen in your app considering one of your primary AI features is one where you take a bunch of images in succession to choose the best one. It's not the end of the world, but it's just one of those things that feels rough around the edges.

Loving my Pixel 8 pro, no problems so far (3 weeks of use). I think the camera bar is attractive and distinctly says Pixel. It's a great way to differentiate the phone from iPhones and others. Subjective, of course. I totally agree that changing telephoto focal lengths needs improvement.Too jerky.

Just upgraded to pixel 8 pro last night. I had an iphone 14 pro max. It's a legit learning curve but I was so ready for something new. I feel like the iPhone forgot to innovate or something. It's as if it became boring to me. Not sure how to explain it. Anyway, Google is at least trying new things and I just want something that feels new at this stage. I've been a iPhone user since the first one. After I bought my 15 pro I was just bored with it. So I preordered the pixel 8 pro and pixel watch 2 and since I've gotten them my iPhone 15 pro and apple watch are back in the boxes and will be for a bit i think. I love my pixel so far. It's a great phone and I got use to the OS pretty fast. Unlike Samsung (my husband has the zflip 5. He also switched from his iPhone this year). And I just can't do the OS on his zflip.

Could reviewers PLEASE give some damn context when talking about battery life!!! Barely 10 seconds spent on battery life.
Doing what? Light stuff? Heavy stuff? How much time off the charger? 10 hours? 16 hours? How much time on wifi vs mobile data?
Doing things like just web browsing or messaging on wifi only vs things like streaming video over mobile data makes a HUGE difference. If your review of battery life is either mostly or completely on wifi then as far as I'm concerned it's utterly useless. 🤦‍♂️

The price difference in my country it like 150 euros, with the main monitor difference the contrast 1200:1 vs 2000:1 (with dci-p3 98% vs 95%).

As an appliance repair technician I can see many uses for the added feature. Of course precise measurements I would use my laser thermometer but if that wasn't handy, the phones thermometer would be nice. In some ways it's like the flashlight option on the phone, I use it more than I should. Same thing for people that tow and just want to take a rough estimate of wheel bearing temps. When it comes to why Google added it, I sort of think they are using it as just another tool to build their AI database. The reason I think this is that it asks you for the item being measured.

8pro user here. AI is not something I use daily. Magic eraser is the only useful thing for me. I don't even use voice assistants to begin with. It's an ok phone, I say that because I have a S23U as my 2nd, and they both cost the same price in my country. I just wished they focused more on nailing the fundamentals - performance, transitions, stability - than invest a ton into new features, half of which are probably gonna become #killedbygoogle.
Comparing both software experiences, One UI is still superior for me because outside the US, your pixel experience is already halved, whereas on a Samsung device, there's no segregation. They even have Bixby call that now sits in place of Google call screen which I don't have on my P8P. I also get better performance, a more stable app experience, no weird AOD colors, no uneven speaker loudness, random stutters, image/video processing delays and a few other things, on my S23U when compared to my P8P. But to be fair, it might just be an Android 14 (new and underpolished) thing, which is pretty much what you can expect when using a Pixel.

    • @firesidethewater
      @firesidethewater 9 месяцев назад

Many pixel 8 pro users have complained about excessive battery consumption when connected to the internet via mobile data. They only reached 3-3.30 min on the screen all the time. So halfway to this test. There you should do a mobile data test. Now I also ask, is it true that the pixel 8 pro battery drops so dramatically in mobile data? Because otherwise I like this phone. It is neither too big (like the s23U) nor as expensive as the ip15pm.

    Some cons:
    1. Tensor G3 vs A17 Pro or SD 8 Gen 2❌
    2. Fingerprint scanner vs Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on S23 Ultra ❌
    3. UFS 3.1 vs UFS 4.0 on S23 Ultra❌
    4. AI Processing on Google Photos, faster on my 13 Pro❌
    5. Changing lenses during video shooting❌
    6. Few software issues/question with Cameras
    Also a lot of Pros:
    1. New design✅
    2. Flat screen ✅
    3. Brighter screen✅
    4. Security with Face Unlock for bank apps✅
    5. 7 years updates✅
    6. AI features for Calling, Traduction, Google Assistant✅
    7. Little charging speed improvements✅
All Android features that still works on Pixel 8 Pro:
    1. Navigation Gestures from Left to Right and from Right to Left✅
    2. Multi-tasking with Split View and floating Windows✅
    3. Moving icons on my home screen wherever i want, top, bottom, left, right with empty space or not✅
    4. Easy use with a Windows laptop✅
    5. Pro Camera Mode without buying an app like Halide✅
    6. Keyboard with numbers row key on top by default✅
On raw performance, Pixel 8 Pro is not the phone to buy, but Pixel 8 Pro can be a great personal assistant.
Sorry Google🫤. Either you switch to Snapdragon or you fix your Tensor for Pixel 9 next year. Now, for me, it’s🥇S23 Ultra or 🥈15 Pro Max: i like them both.

I hear a lot about how bright the P8 Pro's screen is -- but in my experience just being bright doesn't necessarily equate to it being good. For instance when I compare it to the iPhone the retina display still looks sharper / clearer than the Pixel. I wish Google would switch to AMOLED. The Galaxy s23 screens look better than the Pixel in my opinion.
