  • Josh and I discuss his approach to task management and time-blocking using Cal Newport's framework. He also discusses some more general approaches to productivity, and how he balances a number of different roles in his life.
    We also do a quick detour into Dendron, as he is doing a 30-day time-boxed trial of the program. It's another great tool in the PKM space which is also free and open-source.
    From the Dendron wikisite: "Dendron is an open-source, local-first, markdown-based, note-taking tool. It's a personal knowledge management solution (PKM) built specifically for developers and integrates natively with IDEs like VS Code and VSCodium." More information available here: wiki.dendron.so/

    Great. I watched all the videos at x1.25. I don't go above that speed as I'm retired and not as nimble-minded. Study the manual next, do some experiments, and see how others are using the software. It's wonderful having goals but no time constraints after writing c/c++ for 35 years. Play the piano, read, study, or spend all day in my recording studio and create synthwave. I should have retired 10 years ago!

      If you can follow at 1.25 that's pretty nimble 😉
      It's a great privilege to be able to direct your attention to whatever arises - enjoy!

    Hi, great content, is there any reference about "black hole of information" that you are talking about?

    Can you help me how you created the design for your tags. They look really neat and tidy. Also are you using any specific theme for logesq ?

    about your problem with too many lines block in "deleting and archiving notes", the plugin Split block could help

      Thanks, will take a look :) I wonder if it's not doing the same as I would do in VS Code though, but will play around...

    Awesome stuff, curious if Josh has a Github repo or similar where he shares his actual Logseq config?

    i wonder how Josh could insert the morning-grid template w/o any headers. normaly templates are nested below a header...

    • @CombiningMindsPKM
      @CombiningMindsPKM  Год назад

      You can create a template and choose not to include the parent block. Logseq inserts a property: "
      template-including-parent:: false"

    Hello
    Can you help me I am having issues with MacBook Air and Logseq. I take a lot of notes on iPhone but none of them show on my Mac. Is it a case of them both not be stored in iCloud??

      Hi Robert - I'm not familiar with the iPhone app or using iCloud (Android user here 🙂) The best place to ask for help is on the forum 👍🏽

    I tried Dendron for a while. I really wanted to like because it would be great to use vscode for note taking as well as programming, but I've given up on it and am back to Logseq for the following reasons:
    - No wysiwyg editor. It really makes the reading much nicer.
    - Dendron Markdown preview has some rough edges
    - Some things are oddly hard coded. Like you can use @person to link a person, but the person note *must* be in user.person hierarchy. Can't change it.
    - Templates are handlebar templates. No idea why they don't use vscode snippets, which are much more powerful in this context.
    - They use [[label|Source]] wikilink labels, which is backwards from every other tool I use.
    - No implementation of aliases for searching
    And finally development on the project appears to have pretty much stopped. Hopefully they start up again.
    My biggest complaints about Logseq is that the non-standard markdown makes sharing/publishing difficult, but being able to tell a coworker to open a graph in the browser helps a lot

      Holding thumbs for improved sharing / publishing in the future. Would love to have a standard Logseq -> Ghost export or something like that...

    In your videos, it looks like you have a page named 'Dashboard' as a favorite page. I've been logseq'ing for just under a week and have things organized in my graph to build a dashboard and am interested in how you built your dashboard... Keep up the good work!

    • @CombiningMindsPKM

      Thanks 🙏🏼 My dashboard is very basic - just a collection of queries, most of which change as I start focusing on different things. Would like to develop a 'one-stop shop' but not currently on the cards
