I've told you this before, but I gotta say it again. Your approach to writing and production is amazing and has been paramount to my progress. You break things down so clearly and simply in a way I haven't really experienced with anybody else. I've gotten further in the last 6 months than I have in the previous few years by watching you videos. I have to repay you by clicking that Join button. Here's to many more videos and progression for both of us in our musical endeavors!
Recently discovered Like Moths To Flames I Found The Dark Side Of Heaven. Been blasting their last Album aswell but that 2 piece single is just sooo sick. And so are your riffs my man.
The Narrator, Elwood Stray, Bilmuri, Sleep Theory, a ton of Beartooth, Her Last Sight, In Hearts Wake last album, is pretty much what i have been into lately! Oh yeah and check out Driveways, great easycore/pop punk band! And they're touring with Bilmuri this year!
Those little scratches at 8:17 reminded me of New Groove from Periphery. I always love the old video of Matt in the studio laying down drums for that, and I think it's Good Buddy Elliot doing like a hand motion along to the beat that always cracked me up lol
"...and everything In between" by Unprocessed has been on rotation almost every day since release. Best album of 2023, no competition. The new Erra record has also been banging.
I seen in your Kontakt Library that you have RS Drums The Fairview Kit. I’d really like to see you use that kit for a TRT. I’ve always used GGD but when I started using Fairview, it was so refreshing and fun. Also there’s some great features within it that you can’t get with any GGD library.
Get to see Oceans Ate Alaska a fair bit being from Birmingham UK myself. Watching them get some real recognition is ace! Been listening to a lot of Boundaries, Distant, Synestia, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, The Plot in You. Anything riffs anything big lows gets my listen haha.
3:50 - The new album from Ulcerate, New EP from Stoort Neer and I've been pumping some of the old Counterparts albums and 2 most recent Currents albums at work a lot, it's just hyperfocus music. Thank you for sharing your beautiful riffs with us 😌
I finally got the Spiritbox Fear of Fear EP vinyl in the mail today, like 8 months after it was supposed to come out (yay production delays!) so I was listening to that. Otherwise have been obsessed with VOLA for like a year. Head Mounted Sideways is a good one if you haven't heard.
The singles of the new Four Year Strong album go crazy on the guitar stuff. I've also been revisiting Koloss by Meshuggah, especially Do Not Look Down.
OAA's Chris Turner has amazing solo instrumental stuff, cannot recommend it enough also went back around to Between the Burried and Me's "Coma Ecliptic", such a hood record
Besides knocked loose’s new record, a lot of Invent Animate mainly Sleepless Deathbed, Heavener, and How We Used To Say Goodbye, and Opal in Sky’s new record as well
Listening to Thornhill heavy the past couple weeks inspired me to buy a 7 string finally lmao. Lily & the moon, Coven, and human were the songs that made me do it lol
To answer your question. I've recently been checking out "Sleep Token" I stumbled onto them by checking out their drummer. Not sure if Im into their music yet......but digging on their drummer.
3:30 I found Eidola and Galleons from the same song recently, and they’ve both been in my rotation nonstop. Especially Eviscerate, Eidola’s newest album.
You mentioned “eyeless”, that’s the song that made me stop what I was doing and sit down and listen. The middle drum break, broke my brain, those were the fastest drums I ever heard at the time in 1999.
I've been jamming on the newest Boundaries record, Death Is Little More. I listen to it on my morning walks and it puts me in a peaceful mood for the day haha. Also, love the riff. For the B section I'm hearing like an old school Veil of Maya lead like the intro of [id] or something similar.
Haven't heard anything recently that's caught my attention so i've been jamming to some old school Underoath bangers. Not very thall of me i know but they got some juicy dissonance in their stuff.
Recently i've been listening too ( but not limited too ) these bands: Earthside: Let the earth speak The Faceless Sade TTNG: Animals & 13.0.0.0.0 A Wilhelm Scream: The newest 2 albums Strike Anywhere Caligula's Horse Carcass: Heartwork & Surgical Steel Jean-Luc Ponty: Cosmic Messanger Job for A Cowboy: The new album Protest The Hero: Palimpsest UFO: Strangers in the night Live 1979 Obsidious
Hey Nick! Been absolutely frothing the videos especially Thall Thursdays. Would be keen to see a run through of your DAW what software and equipment youre running as im looking into buying a setup
Nick, please go crank the new Bilmuri. I have listened to it probably 30+ times at this point. Also I track my guitars left first. I can't explain why but it feels correct. Another blast of an episode that riff is noice, thanks as always!
Little late but lately I've been heavily into Hammok (E Standard hardcore, they kill it for the tuning and prove standard is still heavy) and Ling Tosite Sigure (Eb standard math rock, they have some of the most ridiculous riffs and drum parts in modern rock music)
3:26 Since you asked, I've been listening to a lot of the Spiritbox, Lovebites, and Decapitated. The riffs on the song "Suicidal Space Program" are fucking CRAZY have been driving my inspiration hard.
In bands I discovered recently, landmvrks is a cool french band, they played at Hellfest this year. And the tone in some of their songs of the last album is crushing, say no words is a good example.
If you're after new music check out Celebrity Therapist by The Callous Daoboys it's incredible. Also listening to Knocked Loose, Paledusk and King Gizzard a lot but I feel like you'll probably already know them.
honey wake up, thick riff thursday just dropped
relatable
👊🤣
"SORRY, RICK BEATO!"
😂😂
That got me. Oh, Rick.
I've told you this before, but I gotta say it again. Your approach to writing and production is amazing and has been paramount to my progress. Dude! Me too! I watch every Thursday to learn and get my face melted.
MAJOR P1 vibes with this one. Love it.
Thursday’s are the only reason I choose to stay alive in this world. Nick saving lives one riff at a time
eyeless gave me a love for those bends too! sick track man. love watching your content
In response to what we are listening to lately, I been listening to Mirar's new drop. It's been insane
been boppin that new Olly Steele EP!
Recently discovered Like Moths To Flames I Found The Dark Side Of Heaven. Been blasting their last Album aswell but that 2 piece single is just sooo sick. And so are your riffs my man.

Been on a huge ulcerate binge. Last two albums are some of the best of this (short) decade so far
The groovy part at 9:24 has Tooth and Claw/Animals As Leaders vibes and I'm here for it
Those little scratches at 8:17 reminded me of New Groove from Periphery.
Another nasty riff as always! I’ve been rocking Moodring lately
The subtle alien slide and chopper sound really makes the entire riff pop!
That bend in the 1st section, and that 2nd section is absolute heat 🔥
Favorite band of the past few years for me has been The Dali Thundering Concept, def give it a listen for inspiration
Definitely listen to the new Bilmuri album!
Sick riff brother 🤘kinda sounds like it’d be on Thornhills “The Dark Pool” record
Major Spiritbox vibes
I thought it sounded like Termina - The Abyss
Sylosis has been my go to recently
3:45 been listenin to a band called haken so much. phenomenal music and honestly nothing like it out there rn
Get to see Oceans Ate Alaska a fair bit being from Birmingham UK myself. Watching them get some real recognition is ace! Been listening to a lot of Boundaries, Distant, Synestia, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, The Plot in You. Anything riffs anything big lows gets my listen haha.
man so glad i stumbled onto this channel.
Bilmuri, SeeYouSpaceCowboy and Waste have all been on a constant loop for me
3:50 - The new album from Ulcerate, New EP from Stoort Neer and I've been pumping some of the old Counterparts albums and 2 most recent Currents albums at work a lot, it's just hyperfocus music.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful riffs with us 😌
New Ulcerate is just a masterpiece! Great video btw as always. Love fron Poland!
Knocked Loose's new album has been on continuous repeat
I finally got the Spiritbox Fear of Fear EP vinyl in the mail today, like 8 months after it was supposed to come out (yay production delays!) so I was listening to that. Otherwise have been obsessed with VOLA for like a year. Head Mounted Sideways is a good one if you haven't heard.
Nib the bendy booii, the bends everything, from phisical intruments to midi ones, music bender
Awesome riffs as always. Thanks for sharing. You probably already know them, but Black Peaks are my favourite band lately. Also Vower.
Im stealing that Tremolo Pickscrape technique, genius!
fire riff homie. been listening to catsclaw nonstop
Gives me Reflections vibes! Love your work dude 👊🏻
The singles of the new Four Year Strong album go crazy on the guitar stuff. I've also been revisiting Koloss by Meshuggah, especially Do Not Look Down.
I think a tapping higher end riff for the second half of that textured part would be dope
OAA's Chris Turner has amazing solo instrumental stuff, cannot recommend it enough
also went back around to Between the Burried and Me's "Coma Ecliptic", such a hood record
Besides knocked loose’s new record, a lot of Invent Animate mainly Sleepless Deathbed, Heavener, and How We Used To Say Goodbye, and Opal in Sky’s new record as well
yeah once again fucking awesome
HELL YEAH, SOOO THICK. LOVING THE OVERLAYS WITH THE PICK SCRAPE
Hikari by Oceans Ate Alaska is one of the best records made. Definitely check that one out!
Listening to Thornhill heavy the past couple weeks inspired me to buy a 7 string finally lmao. Lily & the moon, Coven, and human were the songs that made me do it lol
I love that Rick Beato is becoming the punchline to quantizing things haha. Nothing but respect for Rick, just funny seeing it spread around RUclips
I’ve been on calva Louise’s whole discography. Lots of fun
The pick scrape synth was actually dope. Heavy handed maybe but siiiick.
To answer your question. I've recently been checking out "Sleep Token"
I stumbled onto them by checking out their drummer. Not sure if Im into their music yet......but digging on their drummer.
That is such a sick texture under that riff.
3:30 I found Eidola and Galleons from the same song recently, and they’ve both been in my rotation nonstop. Especially Eviscerate, Eidola’s newest album.
The b section reminds me of the ending of reptile by periphery, so sick!!
The bend in Tremor by Currents is SIIICK
Way to go Nick!!!
3:25 Vibing with Moodring right now. Still kinda heavy but tapping into that Deftones/Loathe sound with a hint of BMTH.
Easily my most anticipated weekly upload on this website. I built a small home studio, and this gives me a lot of inspiration.
Happy ThursHOLYMOLYTHATRIFFISTHICCday everybody!
Thick riff Thursday is the only thing getting me through my Thursdays 🤘
Mortal Reminder self titled. Shits pure slapology
You mentioned “eyeless”, that’s the song that made me stop what I was doing and sit down and listen.
The middle drum break, broke my brain, those were the fastest drums I ever heard at the time in 1999.

Haven't heard anything recently that's caught my attention so i've been jamming to some old school Underoath bangers. Not very thall of me i know but they got some juicy dissonance in their stuff.
Been listening to Avralize, their debut record from this year is incredible
Strong P1 vibes on this one. The Rick Beato joke sent me. 😂
I did enjoy this episode of thick riff thursday very much, thank you sir.
sick bend!
Could put a spacey clean guitar under that last breakdown with dotted quarters of the notes of the tremolos, maybe octave up tho. Could be sick
Synth and strings with a little creepy choir would be sick on that last half, almost like an anti-chorus.
3:30 I’ve started listening to a band called Hollow Front and they are sick. My favourite is thick as blood by them
I've been massively into Dance Gavin Dance and Eidola recently. Also Ohio by Bilmuri
Recently i've been listening too ( but not limited too ) these bands:
Earthside: Let the earth speak
The Faceless
Sade
TTNG: Animals & 13.0.0.0.0
A Wilhelm Scream: The newest 2 albums
Strike Anywhere
Caligula's Horse

Hey Nick! Been absolutely frothing the videos especially Thall Thursdays. Would be keen to see a run through of your DAW what software and equipment youre running as im looking into buying a setup
Chris turner absolutely slaps. You should listen to his recent solo album. Every song is 1 drum take. No triggers.
Nick, please go crank the new Bilmuri. I have listened to it probably 30+ times at this point. Also I track my guitars left first. I can't explain why but it feels correct. Another blast of an episode that riff is noice, thanks as always!
I genuinely look forward to this every Thursday
fun groove, also shouts out Misha's soundclick
I had all that shit downloaded lol. I was like how is this type of production possible at home?! And I still suck 15 years later lmao
Little late but lately I've been heavily into Hammok (E Standard hardcore, they kill it for the tuning and prove standard is still heavy) and Ling Tosite Sigure (Eb standard math rock, they have some of the most ridiculous riffs and drum parts in modern rock music)

That pick scrape sounds insane!
dude, that pick scrape is nasty af😂😂
In bands I discovered recently, landmvrks is a cool french band, they played at Hellfest this year. And the tone in some of their songs of the last album is crushing, say no words is a good example.
While She Sleeps - Self Hell - album on repeat 😊
Great episode by the way, love that guitar tone!
So Thick!!!! 🙌🏽
This sounds sos sick dude. love your videos homie. what's that spacey tone though
3:29 / Silent Planet, Invent Animate, Thrown, Unprocessed, Olly Steele, and a lottttt of Sleep Token 🤘🏻
I have been listening to a lot of I am abomination. Their latest album is their best yet
Listen to Karmanjakah. Especially wild horses. It scratches something for me
When keeping it real goes wrong vibes for that intro
This riff lends itself to some cool Chris Turner style fast ass fills!
This riff is so sick!
If you're after new music check out Celebrity Therapist by The Callous Daoboys it's incredible.
Also listening to Knocked Loose, Paledusk and King Gizzard a lot but I feel like you'll probably already know them.
That pick scrap thing is NUTS
The Bilmuri album!
The new Stoort Neer rips and the new Alcest is so beautiful
Dirty loops have been owning my jam lately
You gonna check out the new Josh Middleton drum library?
PLEASE do an Eyeless cover. 100% my favorite Slipknot song.
A cool ambient clean tone would sound cool in your B part IMO. Great video Nick. Thanks for doing these!
Listen to the new Speed album if you want mosh riffs
Been listening to a lot of the new Dealer album as well as Half Me, Greyhaven, and Cohen Noise
oh yeah man this one is going on the album
I see you've got the Brooks Wackerman drum library 👀would be cool to hear a bad religion or a7x inspired riff/song!!
